Stacking the Shelves #163

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Click on the link under the book to find its page on Goodreads or Smashwords.

Please note that I always leave a message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use DISQUS or a similar third party I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. I don't allow any company access to my social media accounts and I certainly don't allow them to edit and take over my accounts the way DISQUS does. So if you use DISQUS, I can't leave comments on your page so I can't really follow you back, sorry! I'm noticing that some blogs set with Google Plus are trying to force you to open a Google Plus or Facebook account before you can leave a comment. Well, I have no interest in rejoining Google Plus or joining Facebook so if your blog uses this set up, I won't be following it or commenting! And sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me so there might not be a message from me some weeks or you might get a double message sometimes! Blame them, not me!

What a manic start to the year! First I've been busy on the blog with Vampire Week which has been fun, with posts about books, film, TV 'real' vampires and it will finish on Sunday or Monday with a nice recommendations post where you can share with us your favourite books with vampires so make sure you come over for that! I've also been trying to upload my challenge posts for 2017-still got some work to do on those, and next week I start things like new memes, discussion posts, and a new Game of Thrones discussion post amongst other things. There will be exciting times ahead!

On the Tv side of things I've started on season three of The Walking Dead and Andrea is pretty much driving me nuts! I hope to get it finished by next week. At least I've started the year well by watching something! I need to catch up on a lot more series this year! AND find time for films! Gah. On the reading side of things, I've been motoring through my chosen ebooks at such a rate that I might have to pick more to look at this month, which is great! And then Chuckles decides to go on a great big book binge yesterday where I grabbed books and anthologies, giving me 100 books for £3! Yes it was a bargain but I'm horrified by the damage to my tbr and it's the first week in January! *sobs* I blame the authors...I signed up to some newsletters when I entered a couple of multi book giveaways and yesterday a pile of authors seemed to be offering freebies and bargain books! Nice! So a good week for books, overall!

PAPERBACKS:

FREE DOWNLOADS:

Thank you LOADS to the authors involved for sending me FREE copies of these books! I had decided this year to stop avoiding every book with an interesting plot that had romance in it and take a few chances that I might actually like them, so these came along at the right time. After all, I like Patricia Briggs, Jeaniene Frost and Kelley Armstrong, right? So I'm excited to try some new reads in UF and fantasy and these lovely authors have got me started!

  1. Wow you have been busy! Enjoy those books, they look great :) And heck, who cares about having a huge TBR?! Better to have lots of books than none at all, right?!
    Happy weekend!

    1. Yeah but the problem with a big tbr is that you can't justify re-reading favourites and there are lots I want to read again ie Harry Potter, Stephen King's 'IT' and The Hunger Games. I can't re-read until the numbers go down. Also with over 900 books to read plus all the stuff I've read and kept, I have no more space for new things!

    1. Most of my historical books are in the Tudor period but this had a Nazi wolfie Hunger Games kind of vibe from it which was intriguing! I just had to get it and it does have a great cover!

  3. I feel like I've also been adding A TON of books to my TBR list lately. I also have been getting a ton of emails about freebies but I haven't looked through them all yet because I was afraid of how many I would get hahaha! I love that Hodor shirt!

Hope you have a great week and that you enjoy all your new books!

    1. Those emails are scary believe me! I've got enough for another three STS posts already! *gulps* A couple of the offers I got were dated so watch out in case you miss out on something! I LOVE my Hodor shirt! I might even get another in a different colour...

  4. Sorry if this comes through twice -- having horrible internet issues! Yay for a big haul of freebies, and hey, I need to read Wolf by Wolf as well -- I've had it for ages, oops.

    1. You're ok, you only appeared once! That's the disadvantage of big tbrs isn't it-deciding what to read next! I want to read them all right now! I had to grab Wolf by Wolf though and I love the cover.

  5. I'll be good and wait for your recommendations post, but I just have to say one word - Necroscope. If you want a cool twist on vampires that is incredibly dark and violent, it is (in my opinion) the best fictional take on vampires in ages.

    1. I like the words dark and violent! That appeals to my inner Chuckles! I have heard of it but strangely I've never read it. I'm hoping the recs post encourages people to share the vampire books they love as I don't feel I have enough vampire reads!

    1. There are just too many great sounding books right now. I'm trying to get through books I've had for ages but I also want to have different genres so that my end of year posts are a bit more varied. Lots of urban fantasy for sure!

  8. Ha! lovely tshirt! I just finished binge watching Walking Dead season 7 pt 1. So good. Keep up with it as it just gets better. Been wanting to get into vampires and werewolves, but have not had the time to squeeze them in yet...

    1. I've got about 5 or 6 episodes left in season three to watch and I plan on squeezing a few in tonight. That gets my TV plans for this year off to a good start! I don't have enough vampire reads! I'm hoping my new recommendations feature will get us all sharing the books that we love on a wide range of subjects. Could be bad for the tbr!

  9. I also bought Wolf by Wolf two weeks ago. I am looking forward to reading it, but need to get to some ARCs first. I have too many books to attempt to get (free or otherwise) 100 more. But kudos for you for doing it! I think that is an accomplishment in and of itself! Are they full length novels? Wow!!!

    1. I've got way too many books to choose from and I want to read so many of them right now! Still, all I can do is get through them as quick as I can read! Two of the anthologies I think were short stories but most are full length I think. I was on such a grab I wasn't caring! It should keep me going for a while...
