The Coronavirus Diaries Isolation Day 10

This series of posts will be about the coronavirus situation, how it is impacting me here in Scotland and interesting gossip and opinions I'm hearing through our media. I'll be posting as and when I have something to share but I take no responsibility for the accuracy of the news I share or the medical advice and opinion that I mention.

I want to start today with a big shout out to the brilliant people in industry who have switched their production to making ventilators and other equipment for use in the NHS. Seeing how quickly they were able to start producing vital equipment was really inspiring when it was so badly needed. Again, thank you to everyone in the NHS and emergency services who are trying to save lives and keep people safe. Also a shout out to the delivery men and women who are keeping shops and supermarkets filled with food, the shop workers who continue to serve their community, those delivering the Amazon packages, our posties and binmen, the volunteers who have come forward to help deliver and to work in our most important industries and everyone who is going to work to try and keep Britain working. Without all of you, things would be in a really grim mess and I appreciate you all.

I'm no fan of Trump but I do support his decision not to have US taxpayers pay for the security of Harry and Meghan. I find it frustrating that this pair have been expecting taxpayers in Britain and then Canada to fund their security as they go globe trotting. You chose to leave Royal life, pay for your own security! I also note that Trump is no longer talking about getting things open for Easter! Our PM's advisor and policy guru Dominic Cummings is self isolating with symptoms. A very moving minute silence in Spain for victims of the virus reduced me to tears. Also very sad to hear that an NHS doctor has died of the virus-may God bless that poor man and his heartbroken family. This crisis is truly horrible. It is good to hear that Prince Charles is now out of self isolation and back to health, however.

Sadly I have to report now on the Hit Parade of Morons. An NHS worker has been assaulted and left with a fractured cheek. In Derby 25 people were at a karaoke party complete with buffet!!! In Bristol, a group were stopped from going mountain climbing in Wales. People are still going on driving lessons and caravan holidays despite being told not to. Labour MP Stephen Kinnock drove from Wales to London to visit his elderly parents yet we'll be fined for non essential travel outside our area! Footballer Jack Grealish went to a party at a friend's house then crashed his car into other cars. Clown. He was lecturing us to stay home to help the NHS but obviously the rules don't apply to him! Labour MP Luke Pollard thinks it is a great idea to let 70000 EU fruit pickers into Britain while we are locked down. What a moron.

A man has been jailed for 12 months for spitting on an emergency worker. Disgusting cretin. 16 members of the same family appear to have the virus after going to a family funeral on March 13th, and another has already died. Over 300 Iranians die, 1000 seriously ill after false rumours led them to drink methanol to cure the virus-somebody needs locking up for that.I'm also annoyed that our local council STILL hasn't done anything about setting up a phoneline where those of us in lockdown can register for food delivery! People could starve waiting for the council to get its act together.

Signing off for today. I'm having haddock chowder with cheesy bread and some cherry cola!

Stay safe everyone.

The Coronavirus Diaries Isolation Day 8/Day 9

This series of posts will be about the coronavirus situation, how it is impacting me here in Scotland and interesting gossip and opinions I'm hearing through our media. I'll be posting as and when I have something to share but I take no responsibility for the accuracy of the news I share or the medical advice and opinion that I mention.

Day 8 Saturday
I've been pretty busy today, off the computer. I've been working on my scrapbook, sticking in news from September 2012. Yes that's how far behind I seem to be! It'll take years to catch up as it is like a very complex jigsaw puzzle but worse! Death rates around the world are climbing but progress is being made on the new temporary hospital in London. Hopefully it will open next week. Cardiff, Manchester and Birmingham are looking at doing something similar. The UK government may have another virus victim as the Scottish Secretary has symptoms. One piece of happier news is that Jimmy Savile's pervert chauffeur who was jailed for raping young girls has caught the virus in prison. Oh my heart bleeds!

Another Hit Parade of Morons. A Mercedes driver in Manchester steals all the gloves provided at a petrol station. Eight friends were caught having a picnic with kebabs by police. A moron in Scotland was threatening people he passed that he had the virus. Gangs of dumb youths are going up to strangers and coughing on them. 14 year old boy in UK spits on a woman and shouts coronavirus. A man arrested at Asda for refusing to comply with social distancing and trying to jump the queue. Fake police in Humberside are trying to con people into paying spot fines. People still flocking to parks and beaches. I'm just waiting for the government to decide to stop letting people leave home for anything other than food, as too many people are flouting the rules. In the US a man dies after possibly being infected at Miami's Winter Party Festival.

Ugh what a night. I was just settling down for an early night when the buzzing began. I looked at my curtain and there was a huge uber-bee ambling across it. The damn thing stung us both before we could deal with it, which is weird, as normally a bee dies when it stings you, right? Who knows what was going on with this freaky sized thing. So we sat up for a few hours just in case one of us took a reaction to it but all seemed well. I finally got to bed at 2am but had restless leg for three hours and barely got any sleep. I was so hacked off this morning that I just ordered three paperbacks from Amazon-We Sold Our Souls, The Southern Book Club's Guide To Slaying Vampires and The Roo. I have no idea when they'll arrive.

Day 9 Sunday
Sitting here feeling grump and wanting to chuck something at the TV as Tony Blair lectures us with his all seeing wisdom about how bad government response is. We are reaping the results of all his failed policies right now-selling out to the EU and mass immigration led to Brexit, he signed that dreadful one sided extradition treaty that means the US woman whose dangerous driving killed that boy can't be ordered here to face justice, The Iraq War making us a target for increased terrorist attacks, overspending leading to austerity, the Scottish Parliament which as he was warned has lead to a big increase in demands for Scottish Independence...the list goes on and on so he has no right to slag off any other government! I can't believe I voted for that bloody guy. Sorry, political rant over. Anyway, sod off Tony!

Concerning news that a footman of the Queen has tested positive for the virus. I'm very worried for her health now, and that of her husband the Duke. Prince William has been outstanding. His intervention has led to homeless people being taken off the street and into accomodation during the crisis, saving lives. His children were so sweet in their video for Clap for the Carers. Charles and Camilla, Edward and Sophie and their kids also did a video. Camilla, despite her husband being infected, issued a message of support for those affected by domestic violence who are in constant terror during this lockdown, offering support and numbers to call. Charles continues to work during his isolation. Harry and Meghan flee Canada to avoid Meghan paying more tax. Yeah, great, really helping during the crisis.

Here is the Hit Parade of Morons for today. In the Midlands, photos have emerged of piles of food bought by panic buyers all being thrown in bins-unused, wasted and out of date. Bread, cheese, bananas, burgers, fresh veg all chucked away. Total asshats. A tourist from Sheffield was confronted by angry locals in Snowdonia and a driver from Birmingham was prevented from travelling to Devon.

On a plus point, a paramedic was reduced to tears when her whole street applauded her as she went to work, leaving cake and chocolates on her car roof.

Stay safe everyone.

Welcome to Around the Blogs with Chuckles, where I take time out to show you some of my favourite blog posts from the previous seven days and link you up so you can check them out.

With some of us going into self-isolation in the coming days, it is vital that we all stick together online. Do what you can to show some love to other blogs, to books and authors and let us all know that you are staying safe and well. Hearing from our friends will make it easier to deal with whatever is coming in the next few months. Stay safe everyone.

Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************

I've been trying to get into a routine for the lockdown. I get up between seven and half past, come downstairs and get a bit of air at my front door. Then I get my rubbish bags out to the bin, do the washing or ironing as required, get my vitamin C drink, my glass of milk, my fresh orange and iced coffee and watch the news at 8am. I try and get any housework done in the morning. I also try to get non diary posts done by noon, sometimes watching a favourite film, before lunch and the news headlines. I'm trying to get off the computer each afternoon to do my scrapbook, work on my puzzles or other more fun stuff, then publish my diary post and read the online news as I eat dinner. At 6pm I go to my room to read or watch films and documentaries. It's not exciting but I can do it!

Tonight is the night where I get my cheeseboard out! Tonight it will be Cheddar Gorge cheese with flaky cheese straws, chutney, and a nice cold lager and lime to enjoy! I'm so looking forward to that treat! I might even have a few Dairy Box chocolates! I intend to read a bit and maybe watch a few documentaries. That sounds like a fun night anyway. I could use it as I don't feel brilliant today. Hopefully that will cheer me up! I have had a mass splurge of books, just to support some authors during the crisis of course...

Chuckles Blogging World
First can I say sorry for taking so long to catch up with the comments you left on my blog over the last two weeks. I read each one the day after you left them and in my head, I must have thought I'd replied to them, which I hadn't. That is embarrassing and annoying. I have caught up now and won't be so slack in the future.

The Coronavirus Diaries Isolation Day 7

This series of posts will be about the coronavirus situation, how it is impacting me here in Scotland and interesting gossip and opinions I'm hearing through our media. I'll be posting as and when I have something to share but I take no responsibility for the accuracy of the news I share or the medical advice and opinion that I mention.

I think I'm developing a head cold. Tired, headache, scratchy throat, slight mild cough, the odd sneeze. They aren't the virus symptoms but I still need to stay indoors until they go away or I might get banned from the local shop for scaring people! I could do without the itchy left eye which is driving me mad and my concentration is having a bad effect on my spelling. Apologies for any mistakes I haven't caught. I could do with a few hours in my bed this afternoon but I have way too much to do!

News has just come through today that our Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock have tested positive for the virus. They are both experiencing mild symptoms of the virus and hopefully will be on the mend soon, but it was a bit of a shock to hear about their infection, after Prince Charles also caught it. I admit that I'm pretty worried right now. The cases in Scotland are still low compared to England but I can't help thinking about how I scratched my eye while wearing the gloves on my way home from the shops, or could I have isolated sooner or should I have risked that last trip to the shops. The fear of this virus just gets into your head and gnaws away at you!

Here is today's Hit Parade of Morons. A woman in Pennsylvania indicated she had the virus and coughed over a display of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and bakery goods for a prank, leading to the shop having to destroy $35000 (£28500) of food. This bitch needs to be billed for the damage, banned from every food store in the world and put under house arrest. She has been charged with making terrorist threats using a biological agent, criminal mischief, attempted theft and disorderly conduct. Good. The FBI has arrested a man for trying to sell his virus 'cure'. He could face up to 20 years in prison. In the UK fraudsters are going around the doors doing 'virus checks' then robbing people of their food and toilet paper, or offering to do your shopping and running away with your money.

I'm getting tired so I'm signing off for today.
Stay safe everyone.

Buy All The Books For Lockdown!

I have a wishlist of books that I want to buy if the price drops as I don't pay over £2 for a Kindle book. With so many people in lockdown, authors are dropping the price on a lot of things I've wanted to buy, and I found some by authors I liked that I never got round to buying, as well as others I just want. It would be rude not to support our authors at this time, right? I've decided not to worry about my TBR challenge this year with everything that is going on...and BUY ALL THE BOOKS!!!

The Coronavirus Diaries Isolation Day 6

This series of posts will be about the coronavirus situation, how it is impacting me here in Scotland and interesting gossip and opinions I'm hearing through our media. I'll be posting as and when I have something to share but I take no responsibility for the accuracy of the news I share or the medical advice and opinion that I mention.

The latest thing that is winding me up are moronic idiots doing dumb online challenges-licking toilet seats, handrails on public transport, food on supermarket shelves...these asshats need to be arrested and locked up for the safety of everyone else, and if they do get ill with the virus, deny them treatment. The dippy bitch who is credited with starting this was asked about her stupidity infecting others and said 'I was tired of that b***h corona getting more publicity than ME. I’m the real celebrity.' She's now all proud of trolling America as the toilet seat was on her sugar daddy's plane. Is it wrong to want harm to come to her? Block her from social media and make her get a real bloody job. There was also a theft from a hospital of oxygen tanks in the UK. I'm getting really mad with people right now.

Prince Charles tested positive yesterday which is a worry when he is 71. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall has tested negative which is good. Seeing the utter rubbish being said online about it made me mad-ooh Diana will be laughing in Heaven. No she won't! She loved Charles and he is the father of her children so she'd be really worried for them all! Utter crap. Then there are the sick idiots who think this is one step closer to the throne for Harry and Meghan. Nice-you want a woman in her 90's and a man in his 70's to die along with William and his three kids? What kind of human beings are these people??? Add in the fact that the people would have a riot if Harry was to be King. While the Queen, Charles, Camilla, William & Kate and the minor royals were risking their health to do their job and duty, Harry was hiding under his wife's skirt in Canada!

My dad and I are doing ok. We both have a minor sore throat and slight occasional cough but that is probably just the dry air indoors and a lot of extra talking! I want to get to 14 days without us having any symptoms and then I can relax knowing for sure we are perfectly healthy, as it's impossible not to worry that you caught something on your last visit to the shops! We phoned my uncle who is getting over that chest infection and is going for a short walk each day. I hope he's being safe about it but to be honest, we live in sort of suburbs of our town and not many are out and about, and he's stubborn and we can't watch him 24/7.

The latest thing is that tonight at 8pm everyone in the UK has to go and stand outside their house to clap NHS workers to show we support them, then upload it to social media. I've always supported the NHS, I worked in the NHS, I agree with them being given things like preferential shopping, free meals and free parking, and I admire the job we see them doing especially in this crisis, but why do I need to prove it by being seen doing something like this on social media??? The founder wants us to do this every Thursday. Honestly the best thing we can do for them is stay at home and not get infected or volunteer to help if fit to do so! If more of her snowflake generation were staying in and following lockdown rules instead of partying, that would benefit the NHS more than hand clapping! And aren't we to avoid clapping as that upsets autistic people, according to snowflake students? I don't suppose standing on a dark garden path doing jazz hands has the same effect...

The latest stories of human filth. There was a robbery at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital of computers and possibly medical equipment. Hospital staff are being warned not to display their medical badge in case they are robbed of it so crooks can get to the front of supermarket queues! In Spain OAPs being moved to a safer care home had their bus attacked by yobs who also threw molotov cocktails at police guarding the building. This is the world we are living in people.

Stay safe everybody.
