Hi everyone, Dave coming at you across the airwaves...well internet waves or whatever they are! What does a furry pumpkin know about technology anyway? It's a cold October day with a hint of frost in the air and I've been considering getting my own back on pumpkin carvers by dressing as Pennywise the Clown with a chainsaw and causing a few frights...but nobody in our area goes much for trick or treat style Halloween. Our street has no decorations or cannibalistic offerings (carved pumpkins!) so I'm feeling good about life right now. Tonight will be a cosy night in front of the fire, watching a bit of TV and eating chocolate and crisps, ignoring the door if anyone knocks. I'm not a social kind of guy!
We enjoyed our usual Halloween ritual of watching John Carpenter's The Fog, one of my mum's favourite horror films, followed by a tasty lunch of scallops and prawns in a parsley and lobster sauce with cheese crusty bread! Yum! This afternoon sadly was spent looking online at hoovers as ours exploded again and showered the carpet with all kinds. My grampa is off to get a new one as we speak. We're giving all the carpets in the house a Lily of the Valley Shake N Vac before we hoover so things should smell nice. Being a pumpkin I prefer the Pine Fresh variety like a forest floor but mum couldn't get it this time round.
Our shopping officially finished! One final trip out to fill up the fridge and we have enough food in the house to see us to the end of January easily. We just happened to witness a sale at Thorntons so a big pile of chocolate boxes came into the house yesterday and some cake for good measure! You need Halloween snacks, right? We just don't share them with anyone! To cap off a good day, Amazon delivered a few more books which we'll share with you on the Friday roundup post but I can tell you that one was the new Halloween novel! Excited! I'm doing the pumpkin wiggle as we speak!
We did have an issue with a book company in the US that we've ordered successfully from a few times. We've waited three weeks for delivery and as well as being late, they sent the wrong book! Instead of the Monster Haven novel we were waiting keenly on, we were sent an actual Harlequin romance without even a remote connection to what we bought! What's going on with that? At least we're getting a refund!
Tomorrow is the start of Scifi month which my mum is taking part in for the first time. We'll be starting with a bit of Murderbot I think! Dust off those dinosaur planets, weird tech and dystopian adventures! Tonight, I might just watch The Thing and Aliens!
Laters!
Dave
Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at http://www.wishfulendings.com/ to spotlight and discuss books we're excited about but haven't read, which may not even be released yet.

The official novelization of the highly anticipated revamp of the classic horror film Halloween.
In 1978, Laurie Strode survived an encounter with Michael
Myers, a masked figure who killed her friends and terrorized the town of
Haddonfield, Illinois on Halloween night. Myers was later gunned down,
apprehended and committed to Smith's Grove State Hospital.
For
forty years, memories of that nightmarish ordeal have haunted Laurie and
now Myers is back once again on Halloween, having escaped a routine
transfer, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. This time, Laurie is
prepared with years of survival training to protect herself, her
daughter Karen and her granddaughter Allyson, a teenager separated from
her family and enjoying Halloween festivities.
CHUCKLES WANT! It's just been released and I want it right now!

I'm spending a
few months looking at the books I enjoyed in various categories within
genres and asking all of you to share all your favourites in each one too.
Hopefully we'll find new books and authors to try. This about books we
love so please, no lists of books you hated!
No list would be complete without Vampires! There are evil, gory, sidekick, romantic, hybrid, heroes and villians in this lot!
