Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking The Shelves is all about
sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical
or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store
or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books,
gifts and of course ebooks! Click on the link under the book to find its page on Goodreads or Smashwords.
Please note that I always leave a
message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use
DISQUS or a similar third party I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. And
sometimes,
I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by
Wordpress so you might get a double message sometimes! Blame them, not me!
Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it! I don't go in for it in a big way but I like the excuse to have a full day and night of scary films and junk food! Nobody bothers much about it where I live and some years nobody bothers knocking on the doors. With some of the people that live in my area, frankly you don't open the doors at night! I have been joined on my blog today by my furry pumpkin Dave who will be your host for the day. Say hello Dave!
So I had a slow start to the week with the reading side of things but finished strong the last couple of nights by catching up with the Monster Haven series by RL Naquin, which I LOVE! In fact one of my book buys this week is an anthology of stories and poems by that author which includes three Monster Haven short stories that I read and loved, two new ones and other stuff related to old writings and a new upcoming series. Very nice! I grabbed a nice pile of horror downloads since it was Halloween, and some more paperbacks from last week that I didn't put on the stack, like the rest of the Dirk Patton zombie series. Lots of nice books to show off as usual!

Dave is so cute, haha :D I've heard great things about Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children! I've had it for ages but haven't gotten to reading it yet.
ReplyDeleteIt's a creepy looking book! I'm not sure it will be my kind of thing but we'll try it anyway!
DeleteOh my goodness, Chuckles, there's a lot of creepiness being added to your shelves this week! I hope you'll enjoy them all.

Yep, I went all out for scary books since it was Halloween-a good excuse for zombies and things! Hope you had a good weekend too!
DeleteWOW! What a great Halloween Haul! It's been so long since I was into reading straight horror, but I still love the greats, like Dean Koontz and Stephen King! Anything Resident Evil is awesome! Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI went a bit overboard but some were free and the rest were cheap so no complaints there! I really want to reread a few classics from my horror shelf but need to get the tbr down a bit first!
DeleteI see some great looking Halloween reads hear. I hope you enjoy all of your new books.

Dave says 'hi doll, hows it gaun!' He had a good Halloween throwing stones at kids from the bedroom window! Hope you enjoy Burn the Dead!
DeleteWhat a great bunch of books. I love some of the covers. We had 10 whole trick-or-treaters. Hope yoh enjoyed your Spooky Booky month. Happy Halloween Dave!
ReplyDeleteWe had one at the door and I just ignored it. I'm so glad I don't live in the US-I couldn't be bothered with film night being ruined by having to keep answering the door! Dave says he hopes you had a good weekend!
DeleteHope you don't mind but I'm skipping by all the mega scary covers you have going here, lol. I'm a wuss, as we know, but I know how much you enjoy all the scary stuff, so enjoy!
ReplyDelete*cough* anyway, I'm commenting to talk to Dave the Frumpy Pumpkin! He looks like a pretty cool guy! Looks like he enjoys a comedy or two! He he. Hi Dave! *waves*
I hope you had a good Halloween with the movies and food :D I'm actually buying my mum Rise Red (the Stephen King one) and Stay Alive for Christmas. Stay Alive is so fruckin' scary! Well, if you play pc games it us lol. It's the only movie to ever scare my mum, she's hard-core, you'd love her lol. If you haven't seen it you should!
Have a great week,
Amy x
Dave says 'Hi Amy! I'm generally a zombie kind of guy but I do like laughing at people getting hurt in films! *snigger* I do like Barnyard, Monsters Inc, and films with stupid slapstick humour like Jumpin Jack Flash, Home Alone etc. Had fun this year...doing a post about it for all my fans!'
Deletelol Why thank you for replying Dave :P very kind of you, nice to get to know you a little too! x
DeleteMany books perfect for this period of the year! I have the Peregrine one but the others are new to me I confess. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI do like this time of year for grabbing scary bargains!
DeleteLooks like a great haul! I enjoyed Miss Peregrine's, but it didn't creep me out as much I expected from the look of it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure what to expect from it to be honest! I guess I'll find out when I read it!
DeleteHere in the Netherlands Halloween is getting mor epopular, but it's not as big as in the US. And where we live there isn't really much attention for halloween, so it was just a normal day for us. I did bake pumpkin muffins though. Dave looks adorable! Nice haul you got this week, lots of creepy looking books. have a great week!
ReplyDeleteDave's been enjoying all the attention! He's now demanding more internet exposure!
DeleteHi Dave! It's nice to see you on the blog today! You've got a lot of spooky reads this week, perfect for Halloween. I hope you enjoy them all :)
ReplyDeleteDave says 'Greetings! I'm having fun turning this blog into something higher in class...I think I should be here more often!'
DeleteNice spooky haul! I plan to continue the spooky-fest through November because I can't let Halloween go. I rand every doorbell within a mile or two last night with my son and we have TONS of candy! This is by far my favorite holiday. Enjoy your new books!

Halloween must be so much fun with a young kid and a community that get into the spirit of things. Sounds like you both had a great time!
DeleteIt's a zombie fest here. Will you also be checking out some of the new zombie films in the theatre? I'm waiting for Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse to show up in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteI don't have the money to go to the cinema-far too expensive for me! I'll just need to wait for the cheap dvds or something!
DeleteWow these look great! I love how you always get zombie themed books :D
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!!

I can never resist free or bargain zombies! I never get tired of reading about them!
DeleteYou have a handful of awesome and good looking books here! So many genres and beautiful covers! Happy reading and can't wait to see what you think about them! :)
ReplyDeleteMy STS: http://readingadd.blogspot.com/2015/11/stacking-shelves-38.html
I decided to go with the horror genre as it was Halloween. I think there are only two or three that don't have zombies in them! Still, they are my favourite monsters!
DeleteLots of great scary books this week! I had to go add Insylum to my TBR list on Goodreads, it sounds so good. I've read the book After, that has all the stories in it, and enjoyed several of them. Thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post earlier!
ReplyDeleteI never used to like short story anthology books but I've found some good new zombie reads through them so that is always good!
