Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking The Shelves is all about
sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical
or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store
or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books,
gifts and of course ebooks! Click on the link under the book to find its page on Goodreads or Smashwords.
This has been a frustrating week. I'm having more struggles with insomnia which leaves me exhausted during the day, too tired to read at night and yet I toss and turn most of the night. It is ruining my reading and blogging and I'm getting really grumpy about it! No point going to the doctor as I'm allergic to sleeping pills...I've tried things like Camomile Tea and nothing seems to work. Any suggestions are welcomed!
Please note that I always leave a
message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use
DISQUS or a similar third party I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. And
sometimes,
I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by
Wordpress so you might get a double message sometimes! Blame them, not me!

So
progress on the reading side of things was limited and I decided to
cheer myself up by buying a pile of books, dvds and other cool things to
console myself. Not helpful to the tbr but at the moment I don't
really care! I plan to feel sorry for myself for at least a few days
yet! So I've been in a bit of a Godfather mood and I've snagged some
books written about the characters by three different authors. I also
did two book trades this week which was nice. For Wishlist Wednesday I
picked Ebola K at random to talk about so imagine my delight at getting a
free copy this week! Yea! I've read the first book in the Nevermore
trilogy(Sundered) so I was pleased to pick up books 2 and 3 to complete
the set.

I have the "Witches of East End" on my TBR list. I hope you enjoy it. Sorry about the insomnia and hopefully it goes away. Thanks for stopping by!

I liked the sound of the TV series so when I saw there was a book I figured I'd grab it and give it a go!
DeleteIt's a nice haul, I hope it made you feel better :) When I can't sleep I usually play Candy Crush on my phone while I'm laying in bed. For some reason it makes me drift off. Just make sure you put the phone down and close the app before you fall asleep! Good luck, I hope you get some sleep! Enjoy your new books.

Ah I don't have a mobile phone, but thanks for the suggestion! If I don't sleep tonight, I'm going to bite someone...
DeleteYou probably shouldn't take sleep advice from me anyway. It's 1:30 am and I'm nowhere near ready to sleep. Hopefully you don't have to bite anyone!
DeleteI'm still thinking about biting someone anyway!
DeleteI hope you get a good sleep soon and get to read! My Haul!
ReplyDeleteI'm not feeling as drained today so I HOPE to maybe squeeze in some reading tonight *begging the book gods*
DeleteGreat haul. Sorry about the insomnia. I struggle with it too. The only thing that’s ever helped was strong anxiety meds, lol.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
It's horrible isn't it! It spoils your reading fun! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI'm so curious about the Older book but I didn't know about the others. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHopefully the books will turn out to be fun reading. With the Godfather books I'm always wary of someone writing about another author's characters but we'll see how it goes!
DeleteMon son take Melatonin for his insomnia and it works well. All natural, and it's non-addictive, so you don't need to wean yourself off.
ReplyDeleteHere's how I'm Stacking the Shelves this week.
Thanks for the info! That sounds intriguing! I'd have to check ingrediants though as when I take sleeping pills I get scary hallucinations!
DeleteThe Fallen Queen sounds like something I would love!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
I've enjoyed Emily Purdy's writing. The Tudor Wife was a brilliant book about the scheming of Jane Boleyn!
DeleteDefinitely hoping you get a good night's sleep soon. It may sound bad but I take 2 Benadryl every night about an hour before bed and have been doing so for years. Seems to help me sleep, plus I don't wake up with headaches much. Great haul and thanks for regularly visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy visiting your blog Barb! Last night I was able to grab a few hours which is better than nothing and I was able to get some reading done before I went to bed. If that continues tonight I'll be happy!
DeleteSometimes, when I can't sleep, what I do is that I actually leave the bedroom, go to the living-room and read until I'm really tired. I'm still not truly functional during the day, but at least I am able to sleep a few hours that way. Also, as disgusting as it sounds, warm milk with honey and a little bit of whiskey helps... at least sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI hope the insomnia will disappear, Chuckles. It's so frustrating to not sleep well at night.
Enjoy your new books :)

I get spells like this on and off-have done since I was 15 but usually it lasts a few days and then goes away for a month or two. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now and I hope I'm going to see the back of it soon.
DeleteAwesome haul! Witches of East End is one that I've been meaning to pick up because of the show. It sounds pretty interesting!
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I'm certainly curious about the book and the series. Fingers crossed for both of them...
DeleteUgh, I hear ya with the insomnia. :( I don't have real insomnia, I guess, because I get to sleep fine, but I can't ever STAY asleep! It's so frustrating and makes me really really tired. I listen to classical music though and that helps a bit? Also food allergies might not be helping, if that might be a consideration for you?
ReplyDeleteMy dad has the same problem as you. He wakes up countless times during the night and is tired all day. We are quite a pair! Food allergies is something I keep meaning to get checked out-I get a lot of bad stomachs so maybe the two are connected. Might need to check that out, thanks!
DeleteInsomnia seems like a difficult issue to deal with, have you tried valerian tea? My boyfriend tried that a few times and it is supposed to help you with sleep, he has some trouble with falling asleep as well. I read an hour or so before I go to bed and that seems to work for me as it calms me down. I always heard that having a standard bed routine works. You did got a nice stack of books this week. I hope next week will be better!
ReplyDeleteI've never actually heard of valerian tea so I looked it up and it might be worth trying out, thanks!
DeleteGreat grabs this week. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteI hope I get more books read this week!
DeleteThat first one looks really good! I'll have to go check it out. Great haul!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Sunday Post
That was on my wishlist for a while so I was pleased to grab it free!
DeleteRe: insomnia, I make sure to get off my computer/electronic devices/tv an hour before bed -- the blue light from the screens disrupts production of melatonin. You can get apps/programs that filter the blue light, like f.lux for Windows, which might help, too.
ReplyDeleteI certainly don't need to worry about the computer-it is downstairs in the living room and well away from the bedroom. That is a real pain at night when I'm watching TV upstairs-I can't tweet about it!
DeleteOh wow. Hope you enjoy all your new reads!
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope so!
