Stacking the Shelves #76

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Click on the link under the book to find its page on Goodreads or Smashwords.

Please note that I always leave a message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use DISQUS or a similar third party I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. And sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress so you might get a double message sometimes! Blame them, not me!

This week was not a good one for blogging or reading. I had some D.I.Y that needed to be done and my dad and I struggled to build a self made TV unit. My post about it tells all the details of what went wrong all through the day! It is now built and in place and I'm happy with it but there are piles of stuff all over the floor waiting to be sorted into keep, charity shop or bin. It's boring, time consuming and hard to get motivated to do it! So I'm ploughing through that. I also need to get in a new metal frame bed and two new bookcases so it could be a tiring spring before I get that stupid room into some kind of order! Then we need to paint the living room and get a new carpet...urgh lots of hard work ahead. Not looking forward to it!

We also had the excitement of the Solar Eclipse on Friday. The forecast was Central Scotland would be too cloudy to see anything but we got a great view from our garden and some fantastic photos. My dad found the cable so here are a few of our photos!

    1. I'm looking forward to another zombiefest soon! I had hoped to fit a few of them in during this horror month but I''ve been too tired to read the last few days. I hope it isn't a full reading slump...

    1. I had a copy of The Godfather when I was 15 but I never got round to reading it and hadn't seen the films so it went to a charity shop. Now that I'm a fan of the films I figured it was time to get the book!

  6. Nice haul! If the zombie apocalypse happens, you'll be prepared! I'm glad you got to see the eclipse. I always miss out on those things because I just forget. I'm usually reading and think, "Was there something I was supposed to look at? Nah, just my book...right?" Last week the Aurora Borealis was supposedly visible in Pennsylvania, which is extremely rare, but I totally forgot to go outside to see it. It's too cold anyway. Enjoy your books!

    1. If the zombie apocalypse hits, I'm doomed! I couldn't outrun a zombie with no legs and with no gun access in the UK, I think I'm doomed! *grins*

  7. I've seen some incredible photos of the eclipse, but I've also heard tons of complaints that it was just like a cloudy October day. Glad there was something for you to see.

Here's how I Stacked the Shelves this week.

  13. Sounds like a lot of hard work ahead indeed, although it will be nice when you have done that all and your room looks nice. That self made tv unit sounded like a lot of work, but glad it's done now. I am really bad with constructing things like that, so I usually ask someone else to help me. I hope next week is better for reading and blogging.
I think I slept through the solar eclipse and only heard about it afterwards, lol. You took some nice pictures!

    1. The TV unit was a nightmare but at least the worst of the work is over-for a while anyway! I hate DIY and I'm hopeless at it!

  18. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures of the solar eclipse, Chuckles! It was so cloudy here in the Geneva it only got darker, and the birds stopped chirping :)

  19. Awesome pictures of the eclipse! I'm glad the clouds stayed away so you could see it! We were suppose to be able to see one last year, but suddenly clouds blew in. Boo!

Happy reading and I hope you get all of your Spring cleaning done!

    1. This DIY stuff is dragging on! The new TV unit is half the depth of the old one which forces me to throw out years of junk. I swear I didn't know I was hoarding so much rubbish!!! It's taking days to sort through it!

  20. I had picked up the After Shock book and another by him. I'm curious to try those one day.

I didn't get to see the eclipse as we were completely cloud covered, so I'm glad you got some pictures! :) Thank you for sharing. Have a great week!
