Stacking the Shelves #152

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Click on the link under the book to find its page on Goodreads or Smashwords.

Please note that I always leave a message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use DISQUS or a similar third party I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. I don't allow any company access to my social media accounts and I certainly don't allow them to edit and take over my accounts the way DISQUS does. So if you use DISQUS, I can't leave comments on your page so I can't really follow you back, sorry! I'm noticing that some blogs set with Google Plus are trying to force you to open a Google Plus or Facebook account before you can leave a comment. Well, I have no interest in rejoining Google Plus or joining Facebook so if your blog uses this set up, I won't be following it or commenting! And sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me so there might not be a message from me some weeks or you might get a double message sometimes! Blame them, not me!

I've been getting a nice mixture of reading and TV watching done this week and last weekend I got two films watched that I have still to review, which I'm pleased about. (The Program, The Special Relationship) I hope to get another couple watched on Sunday if things go according to plan. I probably need to start thinking about my plans for November reading and viewing!

On the book buying side of things it was a good week. Digital buys include Jurassic Sea, a follow up to a dinosaur book I enjoyed last week (Jurassic Island), Megatooth by the same author, the latest Bug Out Texas book (book 5), the sequel to the brilliant Claws, which I read a while back, a new dinosaur offering and a short story in a series I've just grabbed. I had the Extinction series in digital format but enjoyed book one so much I bought them all in paperback, along with a couple of sport books, the latest two books in my favourite zombie series and an urban fantasy series. Nice!!!

The week itself has been full of medical appointments-testing my kidney function, getting my asthma review, flu jag etc plus catching up on stuff around the house I got behind on when I was sick-so it has been pretty busy overall. I hope next week is a bit less manic and I get some more time to do my blogging!

  1. I saw the Hunter books and I'm quite curious I confess. I didn't know about the others

    1. I read a prequel to the James Hunter books set in the Vietnam War with a nice paranormal story. I just had to buy the rest of the series after that. Hope it's just as good!

    1. Jurassic Island was a decent read so I had to see what happens in Jurassic Sea! And I love big scary sharks so I had to grab this one. I can see more monster buys coming in the next few weeks!

    1. The prequel Siren Song was good so I have high hopes! The trouble is I have so many things I want to read next, choosing is a problem! I shall have to carefully plan my November reads!

    1. I loved Claws! Revenge on the cats using my garden as a toilet!!! I just wish I could get it in paperback to enjoy again. I think I'll start a book of the week feature for different genres to remind followers of all the great stuff I've read over the years...

So annoyed by the medical appointments-I was there three times in one week seeing doctor and two nurses...then I get a letter asking me to come in to get my blood pressure done as its overdue! Why didn't they do it at those appointments??? Like I have nothing better to do than keep going back more extra appointments??? Grr!

    1. October is going well for reading, films and TV so it looks like I'm going to get close to all my monthly goals which is nice! Jurassic Island was good so I hope Jurassic Sea is a good sequel!

  6. My goodness, it feels like forever since I've been on here. How have you been? Just the title alone of Megashark both scares the crap out of me and intrigues me, reminds me of Sharknado.

I'm so sorry to hear you've been unwell, hopefully the tests weren't too obtrusive. Usually when you go for any doctors appointment for one issue, they find 20 more.

    1. It is so good to see you! Bloglovin decided I was following your profile but not your blog and I've just got all that sorted again so I hope to be visiting you regularly. I'm not bad-had a viral infection but over that now. The blood tests are now going to be yearly to check kidney and thyroid so nothing really to worry about.

Anything that reminds of Sharknado is a good thing! I like the idea of these b movie monster books and some have turned out to be quite good in a trashy kind of way!
