I'm getting a bit annoyed at Sloth Chuckles! I seem to be unable to focus on getting shit done and I don't know why. I'll give you an example.
Since 1994, I have been doing news scapbooks. By that I mean putting small cuttings, (sometimes just paragraphs but occasionally bigger articles) cuttings about news, sport and entertainment into scrapbooks year by year to remember what has been going on in the world along with funny pictures, quotes and cute animal stories. Cutting all the stuff I'm considering putting in it from newspapers takes a lot of time but getting them all into the pages of the darn scrapbooks is like the most frustrating jigsaw puzzle as all the articles, pics and paragraphs are different shapes and sizes and I hate leaving gaps!
For the front cover, I take small pictures of the people making the headlines in each scrapbook. Depending on the amount of cuttings I use each month, I can fit 6 months to a year of news into each one. I have a few filled since 1994! If there is a big event, I use multiple cuttings on several pages to cover it ie here is my two page spread on the London riots and the Royal Wedding of Kate and William. You can see why it takes time to piece all the cuttings together!
Anyway I've neglected this hellish task for a while and looked at my last scrapbook last night. The last thing I stuck in was August 2012!!! How can I be 5 years behind in cuttings??? EEK! Well done Sloth Chuckles! Gah. It'll take me MONTHS to catch up with this as on a good night I can get half a month of cuttings stuck in. Guess I'll be doing some of that this winter...
Isn't it typical that Sloth Chuckles picks a time consuming hobby! Do you have a complicated hobby or one that takes up too much time? Is there a big task that you need to get done right now that you know will take forever?
Reading and blogging are my only hobbies, but those news scrapbooks look pretty cool. My country currently seems to be a massive dumpster fire, so making a scrapbook of it would be depressing. I’d just want to put happy news in the scrapbook.

I love looking at the scrapbooks when they are done but I hate the work that goes into making the things! I started in 1994 with the OJ Simpson mess and there have been a lot of big news stories since then. It's nice viewing it from a history point of view.
DeleteI haven't tried scrapbooking before, but I think it might be a lot of fun. I hope you get caught up. The only hobby I have beside reading is playing Minecraft. ;)

It'll take many months to catch up on all that which is depressing! I don't know if I'll keep doing it as it is just so time consuming. 23 years so far!

ReplyDeleteSammy Sloth is a lot more chilled out than me, I can tell you that! Problem is, it takes several hours to get half a month done so it really cuts into the reading time!
DeleteI was into scrapbooking for a while. Not news stuff, just my own photos and memories. It was fun and a nice creative outlet, but it was time-consuming and eventually I gave up like halfway through one of my projects. Good luck catching up with yours!

DeleteI think my main hobby is blogging nowadays, although I used to spend more time playing video games and of course reading ha ha. Scrapbooking is very popular though. I have relatives who go to conventions and weekend getaways and the whole deal.

DeleteNeat! I really don't have any hobbies outside of reading and blogging anymore. I used to cross stich and crochet but I haven't done it in a long time.
ReplyDeleteI think reading and blogging become so time consuming that other things end up being cast aside! Eventually I'll need to stop doing the scrapbooks I think but I'll keep going for now!
DeleteI'm a multi tasker and multi procrastinator. LOL Sometimes everything seems too daunting and I can get overwhelmed. I have lots of boxes of stuff I'm wanting to do and never seem to have time. Like you, maybe this winter:)
ReplyDeleteWinter is the time I try to catch up on reading, scrapbooks, films and that kind of stuff. I usually try to get big tasks in house and garden done before then so I can enjoy the winter!
DeleteWow, this is a really amazing idea, but so much work!! :D Respect for doing it for so long! I started something like that for my favourite football team when I was a kid, but only did it for about 2 weeks :( I wish I had stuck with it..
