My first Deep Blue Terror weekend was a huge success with 7 films watched and 3 books! This weekend I've already looked at four films. Here I share with you my thoughts on another one I looked at.

Five friends on a sailing trip run into trouble when a coral reef destroys the hull of their boat and it turns over in the water. After gathering what they can they sit on the hull and decide what to do next. Do they stay on the hull and hope that it doesn't sink or drift out to sea before they are rescued, risking death by dehydration? Or do they swim the 10/12 miles to the island they were at the day before and take their chances with any sharks in the water? With a split decision, one stays and four go but who made the right decision?
Jeez what a choice. I'm not a strong swimmer and I have a healthy fear of sharks so swimming that distance would terrify me. Part of me would want to stay with the boat and hope for rescue but if the boat sank with you miles out to sea, that would be scary too? Ugh, no good choice there. The four who swim for it are the main focus of the plot after that as they realise a big shark is following them.
The tension levels in this film are very high and pretty much stay that way from the accident to the very end. Is that something in the water? A shadow? A dolphin? Is the shark cruising about under them ready to bite? It was a pretty tense and nerve-shredding film to watch and I really enjoyed it! The acting was good, the directing was excellent and it is definitely one for shark fans to enjoy.

DeleteI loved this one! The terror and suspense just built and built. Did you know this was loosely based on a true story. I caught a documentary about it. They sure changed things for the movie. I used to think nothing of diving into open water from a boat. Young and dumb. LOL Not anymore!
ReplyDeleteI've never been keen on swimming in the sea, lakes or rivers! I ended up in the water in a loch on a school holiday and as I was bobbing along I heard the Jaws theme in my head and I swam like lightning to the shore! These films would keep me well away from the water! Yeah the true story was pretty horrifying wasn't it. Makes you think twice about being on the water...
Delete"Pay you drown first" lol. Not a good choice! It does sound very tense, which you need in a shark movie. :)
