OK lets look now at the game of weddings and who could marry who...
Gendry has the looks but his status as a bastard would exclude many noble women from a match with him unless he became King like Robert. Talla Tarly would be too much of a lady for him and Sansa wouldn't marry a bastard. Arya was already his friend and the age gap isn't too extreme. Lyanna Mormont might even like him. However I see Gendry more with either a wildling woman, Meera or even Yara Greyjoy as she said she liked men and women. Can you imagine Gendry and Yara ruling Pike together?!! That would be fun! But Arya would be the logical choice.
Jon
has few options at the moment if you exclude his family like Sansa,
Arya and Dany. Maybe he would meet and like Talla and be real brothers
with Sam but she does seem young in nature if not so much in years. He
would also match well with someone like Yara or Meera, or another
wildling like Ygritte.
Tyrion
has the fewest options of all. With him having free choice of who to
marry, he'd stay away from Sansa, Arya, Talla, Meera and Lyanna because of their ages. A
marriage of convenience with Yara could be strategic and mentally they
are well suited. She could sleep with the same women that Tyrion picks
up. Other than that I can't see who poor Tyrion could be with unless a
wildling takes a liking to him.
Dany
currently seems to have feelings for two men-Jorah and Jon. The whole
Jon and Dany thing is icky with them being aunt and nephew so I don't
want that. The (tiny spark of) romantic in me does want to see Dany with
Jorah, despite the age gap. She would match quite well also with
Gendry and plenty would back a Targaryen-Baratheon dynasty.
I
don't think Arya really wants to marry anyone in her line of business.
Gendry was her friend so I can't see her with anyone else. She certainly won't be marrying a Frey! Sansa would
think Gendry was beneath her and wouldn't marry a bastard or her cousin
Robin. She wouldn't marry bannermen or servants or anyone older than her
so who is left? Littlefinger? He would give her the power she craves
but is she that stupid? (yes, probably!)
Yara
could marry a man and still keep the Iron Born tradition of having
saltwives for fun. If she did marry I see her with someone who is a
warrior, rather than a noble. Gendry or a wildling man would be a good
pick.
Brienne's heart is with Jaime and part of me would like to see them together as part of a redemption for Jaime. But I wouldn't be against seeing her warm to the idea of Tormund! Two totally different but intriguing choices for her.
Sam and Gilly of course. Enough said.
Lyanna Mormont is young to be thinking of a husband but can you imagine what she would do to Robin Arryn??? She'd eat him for breakfast! Ned Umber is close to her in age if she forgives him for his father's treason.
Pod and Talla Tarly? Both nice and slightly naive!
Ellaria Sand and Daario would be a great combination if she is still alive.
Some interesting thoughts. I'd love to see Tyrion and Dany but I know that's just NEVER gonna happen. I can see the attraction to Jorah though and the two would be awesome together. I can see Arya and Gendry. They would be suitable matches and heck, they could kill people on their honeymoon. I love Brienne and Tormand together and don't really care about Sansa and Cersei. How about Jamie and Sansa - provided she lives.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see Dany with Jorah than Jon but you know the program makers love getting Dany naked so it'll be Jon she beds. I want them to find out BEFORE they jump into bed that they are related! Hopefully Sansa and Cersei will just die! I can just see Arya planning a honeymoon in an area where she can slaughter a few enemies with Gendry!
DeleteI’d like to see Arya and Gendry together. They’re already friends, so it makes sense. I know that being family has never stopped characters from having sex before, but I’d rather see Dany with Jorah and not Jon. I want Brienne to be with Jaime because then he might leave his creepy sister. I just want Yara to stay alive. She’s one of my favorites. Please don’t kill her, TV show!

I want to know what is happening to Yara. It's frustrating that this shortened series has stopped us seeing more of her, Ellaria, Brienne, Pod and the Brotherhood! The range of stories in other series is what made it so good to watch and that is lacking a bit this time. Instead of supersonic travel could we not have scenes of Ellaria and her daughter in the dungeon, Theon trying to work out possible plans to save his sister, Brienne and Pod, Bran sorting through his memories?
Deletefor some reason I never felt the Dany-Jorah chemistry! I think it would feel more "natural" to me if she ended with Jon given the fact they were not raised as relatives [like the Lanisters omg tripe YUK!]. I think being yuk and all, Dany ending with Jon will go with the story line because I think they said the Targarians married among themselves and that's why the high occurrence of mental illnesses. AND they cannot have children anyway.
ReplyDeleteI think there is enough incest with the Lannisters without having more of it with Jon and Dany. I think the tv people just want more sex scenes and getting Kit and Emilia naked again, not caring that a lot of fans don't want to see them together.
DeleteOoh nice. I like Gendry and Arya together. I wonder if Tyrion will find out what happened to Tysha in the books. Sansa could marry someone from the south for a political alliance- one of the remaining Highgardens maybe (wouldn't it be funny if it was Willas, the one that Olenna and Margaery toyed with the idea of setting her up with?) Or maybe someone from the Vale since I think those kingdoms will be linked. But a Stark/ Tyrell would be a bombshell alliance!
ReplyDeleteYata I hope gets the guy she likes in the books. In the show no idea but she might match up well with someone Dornish? Lyanna could maybe match with Rickon in the books- on the show no idea. And I liked Ellaria and Daario- nice one

I based the post on who is still alive in the tv series as most people posting haven't read the books and won't know the characters. Afraid I can't comment on things like this Willas as I don't know who he is!
