Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my new feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my blog! Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
Another week has passed and this is the first full week of my new weekend post. I kind of feel like the fox at the moment but he looks way more comfy than me! I'm bone tired this weekend and can't get rid of a sinus style headache so I'll probably sulk and feel sorry for myself! Or have some book buying therapy...! On the reading side of things I'm still going along at a good pace, well ahead on my Goodreads Challenge, ebook blitz and series catchup so I'm happy about that. It's nice to get some good hours in each day! I haven't been buying much but I did manage to pick up the latest books in a few series I'm following, and have downloaded some more ebooks to share so lets get down to business!

Chuckles Blogging World:

With the health stuff rumbling on I haven't totally been at the top of my game for getting everything done each week but I'm not doing too bad. I'm uploading reviews from this year at last so the review pile is being taken care of, sharing some older retro reviews of books I've enjoyed, I'm getting some great  imput from you guys on various posts and I'm happy enough with blog content overall. It doesn't mean there won't be new stuff coming at some point though. It's time for a round up of what I've been doing this week! Links will take you straight to the post.

Book Reviews:
This week on the blog I featured the first two books in what is the best zombie series I have read so far-The Arisen series. Love zombies? Check them out! Also reviewed an apocalypse book by Nathan Jones. My Mini Reviews Catch Up is where I talk briefly about my thoughts on books I DNF, are too short to justify a long book review or books where I can't say much without bringing in spoilers.

Michael Stephen Fuchs-Fortress Britain (Arisen #1) 5 stars.

Michael Stephen Fuchs-Mogadishu of the Dead (Arisen #2) 5 stars.

Nathan Jones-Fuel 1 star

Game of Thrones Gossip. This is where fans can talk about the topic of the week in the World of Westeros. Be advised, you must have watched all six seasons of Game of Thrones as spoilers are all over these posts! This week the topic was the incest between Jaime and Cersei Lannister.

Book Challenge Updates:

The Monster Month of March. An update on how I'm doing with my challenge to read a pile of monster related books this month. Bigfoot, sharks, dinosaurs, spiders, zombies are a few of the monsters I've been enjoying this month!

I have also read 73/250 books for my Goodreads Challenge. Yea!

TBR total of books I own but haven't read yet stands at 829. I hope to get down to 800 by the end of the month but it's going to be close!

That's all for this week! Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to visit my blog and leave comments. You guys are great!

    1. Summer seems to be when reading slumps come in for me so I'm hoping to push through that this year! I'm really happy with my challenges so far...I just hope it continues!

  2. That fox photo is adorable. Also, your Goodreads challenge is crazy! I’m impressed that you’ve already read so much this year. I’ve been reading Stephen King’s IT for 2 weeks and slowly watching myself fall behind on my Goodreads challenge.

    1. I love foxes! I've been feeding foxes in my garden for years and they are so gentle taking the food from you! Ooh I want to do a reread of IT as I really love that book. I'm keeping it nearby in case I get into a sudden slump...Still plenty time for you to catch up on your Goodreads Challenge though. Good luck!

  3. Awesome haul of books this week. So glad that you got the pencils I suggested. I hope you love all of your new books this week. I would love to see some of your coloring book pictures.

    1. I spend so much time reading these days that I don't seem to find time to sit and just colour! I need to make more effort and when I do get some colouring done, I'll certainly post the photos!

  4. Huh, I follow you on Bloglovin, yet seem to have missed some of your posts. Annoying! Thanks for doing a roundup.

    1. Bloglovin' seems to eat posts and unfollow people at random which can be pretty annoying!

  5. Great to see how active you are with this roundup post. It is a good variety. I have to catchup with your GoT posts. Have a good reading week ;-)

    1. I thought it would be handy to do a sort of roundup to let everyone catch up as some bloggers only get time to blog visit on weekends and bloglovin' sometimes eats posts as I was saying to Nikki!

  6. I love how you've formatted this post so I think this feature is a definite keeper. Sinus headaches are the worst. I get them frequently but not as much since I started using nasal saline every night. Of course I also take 2 Benadryl before bed every night. I'm gonna have to check out Underground Magic.

    1. It took me ages to decide how I wanted to set it out-I'm glad it looks user friendly! I was a bit concerned it might look too crowded. Maybe I'll add a graphic or two to break it up if I find something appropriate! Headaches are horrible-they just stop you doing anything...

  7. WOW! You are doing so well on your Goodreads challenge, Chuckles! I have been slow on the reading front so far this year, what with working too many hours plus writing my MA thesis, there just hasn't been as much time for reading as I'd like. I will catch up, though, I'm sure.
Your new books look fantastic, and I hope you'll enjoy them. I also hope your sinus headache will disappear! *poof*
I'm off to check out some of your posts for last week.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading.

    1. I think you have pretty good reasons for being a bit behind on reading with so much going on for you! I'm lucky to have the time to do a lot of reading at the moment and I hope it lasts! Headache is better this morning at least for now so I hope that will give me a break today. Have a great weekend!

  8. Love this new feature! I do something similar myself so that I can do a quick recap of what I've posted in the past couple weeks and also give a heads up on what's coming. Really appreciate when I come across roundup/update posts on other blogs too in case I've missed anything from people I follow!

    1. Basically just a mashup of STS and SP but I'm actually happier doing it this way instead of waiting for STS to put up the post and links every week. This way I can just get it done on my own timescale and I quite like it! I wish I'd started doing it earlier...the feedback so far has been very positive!

  9. I no longer feel so bad about my unread owned pile; 800 beats my pile by quite a bit. Though not by as much as I would like to admit...

    1. It's a bit scary isn't it! I would have the pile greatly reduced if I wasn't grabbing more books every week...*sigh* But the new books look so shiny and appealing! I blame the authors...

  10. Sinus headaches are the worst. Hope you are feeling better soon. I don't even know how many books I own that I haven't read yet but I am pretty sure it is over 1,000. Enjoy all of your new books!

    1. Now I feel better! At least two people I know have more books to read than me! *giggles*

  11. Sorry to hear about your headache and health issues. I hope you feel better soon! I've been enjoying your Chuckles chats post you started lately :). And that's a good idea to combine some mini reviews in one post. It's nice to see what you posted about in the last week, I always like round-up/ recap type of posts like this.
I've been doing pretty well with my goodreads challenge, a bit more mixed on my other goals as I do well with some of them and less well with others. I also keep getting a lot of new books, I don't want to know how high my unread pile is at the moment. Have a great week!

    1. It sounds like most people like a roundup post...I certainly like them as there is always going to be something there to comment on when you visit. I wish I'd switched away from STS months ago! These roundups are so much more relaxing! I'm glad to hear your Goodreads challenge is going well and I hope you are able to meet your other goals too!

  12. Those first three books you got look good, and so does Breakaway! But I'm sorry to hear your still not feeling 100% since the caffeine thing. And ugh sinus headaches. I had one of those for days that wouldn't go away even with Tylenol. I think it was from using my space heater. Stupid cold weather. Glad you're feeling good about your blog and reading goals though :-)

    1. The caffeine thing annoys me as that was self inflicted misery! I had no idea it would have this effect on me. Literally no appetite at the moment and the fatigue side of it is difficult some days and it does influence the depression which means good and bad days. It's frustrating but it will eventually all pass so I try not to moan too much about it! I'll be a lot healthier at the end of it as well. Thankfully everything else is going nicely!

  13. Glad to hear you are doing a little better [or not too bad} health wise. Holy cow. Never thought a caffeine withdrawal was this bad! I HAVE to check out Born in the Apocalypse :)

    1. I haven't read the Born in the Apocalypse books yet but I have started the author's other zombie series White Flag of the Dead and enjoyed what I read so far. I'm not sure if they are connected or just different zombie series. I'm feeling sorry for myself this week so I think I might need to buy some books!
