Stacking the Shelves #93

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Click on the link under the book to find its page on Goodreads or Smashwords.

Please note that I always leave a message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use DISQUS or a similar third party I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. And sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress so you might get a double message sometimes! Blame them, not me!

So another week has passed and it's time for STS again. I've had another decent week with reading so I'm pretty happy. My book buying has been limited as well so that is also good news! I'm trying to keep it under control through the summer but I'm worried about all the upcoming Amazon sales! Still, at least I'm addicted to books and not things that damage my health!

I am feeling pretty grumpy this morning though-last night we had high winds across my part of Scotland which I find very unsettling plus there was a monster sized bloody spider in the bathroom which had me running screaming to fetch my dad! WHY do the damn things need so many horrible hairy legs??? To run over your unsuspecting face in the middle of the night, I don't doubt. *shudder*  Did you know there are spiders the size of dinner plates? Try looking up huntsman spiders on YouTube and see the size of the monster one in that toilet, stretched right across the toilet seat!!! I've been having nervous trauma since I saw that...

    1. It seems those who survive Afraid, Trapped and Endurance are brought back for this fourth book where they have to survive the haunted house overnight. It sounds great but I think I better read the other two books before I move onto this one.

    1. I'm excited by the mythology books! I had a Norse one before but it was so longwinded that I didn't really follow the story. I'm hoping this one is better!

  5. I don't know why I looked up that spider, it can never be unseen. I was on a jungle excursion in South America and we stopped at a rest stop to use the bathroom. I went in and there were several spiders the size of my head on the walls. I ran away and risked a bladder infection rather than spend one more second with those things! Nice little haul, by the way. I love mythology. Congrats on keeping it a small haul! Have a great weekend!

    1. I nearly passed out when I saw some of those monsters on YouTube! That one across the toilet is the scariest thing I've ever seen! *shudder* I can't imagine seeing those things for real-you must be brave going to South America with huge hairy things running around the place!

  6. I haven't read or heard of any of these, but I hope you enjoy reading them!!! Horror and Mythology should be fun to read though! Have a great week! <3

  7. A lovely haul this week with some really great looking books. I hope you enjoy them all :)

Can we not talk giant spiders.... THEY FREAK ME OUT!!! I have seen the huntsman ones and those things are evil. I will never go to a country where those are common. I saw a video once of a man trying to trap one in a tub to take outside and it jumped/fell on him. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I run screaming for the boyfriend whenever I see one. He used to own a tarantula - not while we were together!!! - so he is not even slightly bothered by them.

    1. THey really are the most horrible things to look at AND they move so damn fast! I'm scared enough of normal ones without facing one of those monsters! I think I need to find a husband, just for spider killing duties!

  8. I do like Greek Myths so that book has caught my eye... The Coronation Street Houses will also do as a gift for a fan - thanks for drawing my attention to it. Here are my finds for this week https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2015/07/18/stacking-the-shelves-july-18/

    1. My mum was a big Coronation Street fan and I've got a pile of books based on the series-novels, companion guides etc. There are lots available at good prices on Amazon.

  9. Spiders don't bother me, even big hairy ones, unless they're poisonous and on me, for course. I just let the little ones live in my house, they eat the scary things that fly.

  10. I'm in Perthshire so last night and today it has been nothing but gusts, thankfully power stayed on! We where going to go to St Andrews for the golf but because of the weather and the fact it costs too much money we stayed at home instead!

I hear you about spiders, thankfully since we got our spaniel there are less of them around, she seems happy on her eight legged diet!

    1. Ok, I'm getting a dog...I do love spaniels and if they eat horrible hairy things, even better! I'm down near Glasgow so we usually avoid the worst of the winds, being a bit more sheltered. I hate those high winds when you get the roof creaking and you think it's going to blow away...I could never live in the US with all those tornadoes.

  12. Nice haul and I hope you enjoy them. I have seen that spider on YouTube. I think I got bit by a small one this week while watering flowers - it was small but looked like a bite. Hope you don't see any more soon.

    1. If spiders looked like butterflies, most of us wouldn't bother with them but they are so ugly and hairy! *shudder*

  14. Ok, I totally get the spider fear. It's super hot right now, so they keep migrating inside. I find them in the weirdest of places. *shudder*

Great books this week - the Greek one looks interesting! Also, apologies for not commenting as much - you're always so great at it, and I'm not!

    1. The spider thing is one of the reasons that I hate summer! I like it nice and cold to hopefully kill the things and keep them away from my house!

No need to apologize! Real life gets in the way of reading and blogging all the time. I suffer from that myself. I have about 130 book reviews to catch up on and I never seem to get the time for it!

  16. There are worse things to be addicted to than books. I don't like spiders in my house and I am always the one killing all the nasty spiders that get into our house as my bf is afraid of them. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    1. I have great sympathy for your boyfriend! Women are expected to be scared of them and nobody says anything about it. It's tougher for men that hate the things. Then people say 'they're more afraid of you than you are of them'....no, don't think so!

  17. Aww Chuckles! I had no idea you didn't like spiders! You shouldn't trauma yourself like that :(
The books on Greek and Norse myths look fantastic! I love that kind of thing. When I was younger I always used to be on Google looking up new myths. You'll have to tell me what you think when you read them :D
    Have a great week,
