Chuckles Weekend Roundup


Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do! 

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

*yawns* Please forgive any spelling mistakes as I was up late watching the election results come in and I feel pretty tired and lethargic! I really hope there are no more elections for the four or five years coming as I don't need any more drama. Anyway on to other matters! This last week or so I've neglected my TBR reduction in favour of hitting my Goodreads total, concentrating on shorter reads to hit that 200 target. After that I'll be trying to get my TBR down below the 900 total. I do still hope to successfully hit both targets! I'm also starting to work out what my targets and challenges will be for next year. That is what makes this time of year quite exciting and busy in the blogging sense for me. No book buying until January for Chuckles so no stress about missing packages for a few weeks at least!

I'm continuing with my Blogmas posts, working on my End of Year Survey results and keeping on top of comments and blog visits this weekend. Now that the election is over, I can concentrate on getting up to date with book reviews and then start on challenge posts for next year and pie charts!

We finished watching American Ninja Warrior season 11 and my dad was going mad cheering on his favourites! Best season ever! Last night I stayed up to watch the General Election results until about 2am when this old body protested and I caught up with everything else this morning. Managed to watch Mamma Mia again yesterday!

I have a few that I need to deal with for a few challenges before the year ends so I want to get them out of the way and hit that Goodreads total first. Rawhide Down gives me my Q author name to complete that challenge. I haven't decided on the rest yet!

    Glad you enjoyed the election stuff. We are being bombarded with impeachment stuff and all the news is wearing me out. The US is rather sad right now and without getting all political, I'm ashamed of how bad it's gotten since the current pres took over. Arrgghh! Hope you enjoy your weekend!

      I much prefer the short campaigns we do rather than what you guys have to suffer! I'd actually struggle to vote for any of the candidates looking to take on Trump but I wouldn't vote for him either. I'm hoping for a bit of peace with the politics for a bit in the UK!

    Commenting here on a couple of posts:

    Saw your info about not getting your washing machine until January. Man, that really stinks! I know I'd go ballistic. As for hand washing I know you have to do that but man, I don't know HOW you're still doing it.

    The Fence. I couldn't believe it when I read it that it had blown over. I know how much effort you guys had put into it for getting it installed and then painted. And to have it all undone in 1 day was discouraging to read about so I can only imagine how you must be feeling. Do you think you'll just let it go and not bother to put up another one?

    Glad you're going to be concentrating on your Devilreads TBR. Getting the TBR reduced by actually reading books is a great goal :-D

    And man, politics! Our political season has started up, with our Presidential elections coming up NEXT November (seriously, stuff stating up a year in advance? ughhhhh!). I hope you can weather whatever changes your elections mean for you.

      We've agreed to be on stanby for a cancellation so fingers crossed that happens before Christmas! I guess the hand washing is just one of these things that have to be done, y'know? I've decided just to stop whining about it!

      The good thing about the fence is that the neighbours are good and we don't have rampaging kids or animals to worry about so we can leave it for now. We will get one up at some point I think as you never know who might move in there in the future should our neighbours move on.

      I couldn't deal with how long your elections take! Officially ours seem to last about 6 weeks or so which feels long enough! I have sympathy for you guys! I like politics but I hate the campaigning!

    I never stay up to watch the election results. It's too stressful. I just wait to find out in the morning. Good luck clearing your TBR

      The good thing here is that when the polls close at ten, you get the exit poll which predicts the result and it's pretty accurate on the number of seats a party gets within a margin of error so you can tell what kind of night it will be. I stayed up until 2am just to check the poll was proving to be right then went to bed and watched a recording of the rest of the night once I got up!

    I've been so busy and this year has been a struggle to complete my goals and challenges. I've hardly thought about what next year's will be yet. LOL

      I'm already in planning mode but next year will be fewer set books and challenges and all mood reading! My goodreads target will be lower and I need to fit in favourite re-reads and TV/Films!

    I too stayed up watching them then dusted off and turned on the TV in the bedroom to continue watching until I fell asleep. It was all very dramatic... But I agree. It'd be nice to have no more for a while!

      I don't have the digibox in my room so I had to watch it downstairs but at 2am I was struggling! I did record it to watch the rest when I got up at 8am!
