I have changed the order of a few of my categories to look at the characters first and give me a few extra days to get reading a few more books to be added to these lists! These are the best male characters from books I read this year.
A Dance With Dragons
Tyrion is at the gates of Meereen and nearer to Dany, trying to avoid the plague. His scenes are very funny and entertaining with that sense of humour. Barristan Selmy finds himself in charge of Meereen with political plots and assassination attempts to investigate. I LOVE his character and wish he'd been used more in the tv series.
Sabina Kane
Brooks is a new ally in New Orleans who has a drag queen alter-ego. Brooks is a charming and fun character, my favourite in this book. I also love Giguhl the demon who turns into a bitchy hairless cat. These two are trouble together!
Extinction Trials
Reban Don is just awesome! I enjoyed his character as he ran the trials for the Piloria trip, loved the reveal about Storm and his exile. Now we really get to see how capable he is.
As The World Dies
Rune is a psychic biker who can see and speak to ghosts and his information assists him to help people in the apocalypse. I loved his Untold Stories adventures. Ken is a gay beauty shop owner who is scared of everything in the apocalypse but finds his courage in several ways.
The Bloodhound Files
Charlie the Golem is a sharp dresser with wit, dry humour and snarky banter. He is a tough crime fighter and enforcer, so things around him are never dull. The Quicksilver Kid is another crime fighting superhero Golem who is also a cowboy gunslinger. He is a lot of fun!
Z Children
Grandpa. Susan's dad is a kind man, devoted to his family and has arthritus in his legs which makes running from zombies or moving fast very hard! I'm very worried about his survival!
Damoren
Allan and Takaira are amongst the many people in the books who have been chosen by magical weapons as their partners. Allan is such a nice guy and my favourite-we get a full story of him in book three of this series.
Blood Island
Veteran horror actor and terminal cancer sufferer Jarrod battles to film a sea monster b-movie when the town comes under attack from The Mass and the sharks attached to it that can roam on land. I loved his character!
