Chuckles Chuntering

Ugh, I think I'm coming down with a viral nasty of some kind as today I look and feel like the zombie monkey above! Don't you just love this time of year for that! The good news is that I pretty much have all my blogmas posts done and ready to go-I just need to add the final books that I'm reading in December if any of them make the 'best of' grade in those categories. I've had to juggle the order of the blog posts to take account of my current reading moods as the eagle eyed may notice! I'm concentrating on the non fiction until I finish the book I'm currently reading and then it's on to the books under 200 pages-some nice zombie and apocalypse reads to look forward to! I've yet to tackle the End Of Year Survey. There's no sign of it on Jamie's web site but if it doesn't appear in the next day or two, I'll just copy the list of questions from last year and do it again. I'll also see if there are any interesting book tags going around.

It has been a bit nippy here on and off over the last week or so and Winter Is Here for sure! It just makes me want to curl up in front of the TV and re-watch Game of Thrones and read the books again! I'm showing restraint at least until I hit my goal of 200 books for the year. I'm slowly getting there but I have a list of shorter books still to tackle so I'm quietly confident! Next year I do intend to drop my goal to 100 or 150 so I can get a bit more TV watched next year and maybe do a few re-reads for fun. I'm already thinking about reducing the challenges for next year and focusing totally on mood reading. Planning is the fun part but we'll see how it all goes! And I'm still hoping for news about the release date of The Winds Of Winter but nothing to report yet! If anyone hears anything, please tell me!!!

  1. Oh no! Hope you feel better soon.

I'm in two minds about what to do next year with challenges. Part of me wants to sign up for ALL THE THINGS the other part of me can't be arsed and just wants to read/do whatever I feel like.
I'll probably land somewhere in the middle and do a couple wide reaching challenges (like Beat The Backlist) and then just focus on the adhoc challenges that spring up like read a series in a month.

    1. I'm going to try and mood read all year but I do need to focus on getting series caught up with and finished as there are too many I've barely started! Instead of choosing series to read then losing interest in it, I'm starting with a blank list and just adding what I get to! I may do my own versions of a few things!

  2. I'm lowering my challenges next year too. I have a few new things planned with Stormi and we want to tackle some older books as well. Then I can participate in some of the shorter ones that pop up. I do love a good challenge though. I sure hope your under-the-weatherness doesn't stick around long. I usually get sick around the holidays because it seems to catch up with me once I slow down - which is usually the two weeks after Christmas! Take care my friend.

    1. Thankfully I felt crap for a day and then it vanished again so fingers crossed it stays away! Yes I'm doing a total revamp of my challenges next year to get rid of the reading stress and encourage me to get more films and tv series watched!

  3. I hope you feel better soon! Good luck with hitting 200 books. I won’t even reach 100 this year.

    1. Next year I'm dropping my Goodreads target way down and adjusting the total up each time I get close! 200 has felt like a real struggle this year!

  4. I hope you're feeling better soon. I think reduce our goals is a good thing. I plan to be a very selfish reader next year and reduce some of my physical tbr pile.

    1. I'm going to be making changes to challenges next year to try and take the pressure off a bit and leave me free to mood read all year!

  5. I've woken up with a sore throat the past few morning but it usually goes away once I get moving. I hope it stays that way - & that you feel better soon.

  8. I hate to hear that you aren't feeling well, Chuckles! This would be the perfect time of year to curl up indoors. I started setting my Goodreads goal at 100 a few years ago and it's great! I meet my goal in the summer and then just have fun seeing where I end up.

    1. I'm probably going to go for a hundred books next year then move the total up each time I get close to it! This storm has been horrible so I'm glad to stay inside. Hope it's gone before we go to vote tomorrow!

  9. We're dealing with the cold and sick coworkers here, so both Mrs B and I are drinking gypsy tea as a preventative measure. Only time will tell if that works or not though :-)

  10. Sorry you aren't feeling well. Tis the time of year for all kinds of nasty viruses. I'm rewatching Game Of Thrones right now and on Season 6. I just bought Season 8 and can't wait to watch it. It's hard to believe I never did and managed to avoid spoilers!
