Friday Favourites #2

This meme is about showcasing favourites. Each week I plan to showcase a favourite book or series, past and present and tell you all why I love it and why you should try it! If you want to join in, please go to our host Natalie and leave a comment on her Friday Favourites post with a link to your post. If enough of us join in, she'll provide a linky for us all to connect. So what are you waiting for?

THIS WEEK:
I LOVED this book! Imagine you went camping for a few days to chill out with friends and you came home to find everyone gone, held prisoner by an invading army who chose a small harbour near where you live to launch the attack that takes over your country. You need to hide to stay free. You need to take supplies from houses without being seen. You need to know if your family are safe so you sneak to where they are being held and hope you don't get caught. You start thinking about how to rescue your family and how to make life difficult for the invaders. But you make some mistakes that could get you killed...This was an exciting book. Ellie and her friends are just normal teenagers who try to think of everything they need to do to survive-but they make mistakes that get them into trouble, as would happen in reality. There is a lot of tension when we get the scenes where they check on their families and raid houses for supplies, there are all out action scenes and the hints of budding romances that become too complicated by the situation they find themselves in. 5 star read!

When Ellie and her friends return from a camping trip in the Australian bush, they find things hideously wrong — their families are gone. Gradually they begin to comprehend that their country has been invaded and everyone in their town has been taken prisoner. As the reality of the situation hits them, they must make a decision — run and hide, give themselves up and be with their families, or fight back.

    1. Great book series and film. Only thing is it was made in Australia and it didn't do well overseas(due to lack of promotion by the studio and recessions starting in the UK and USA so less people were going to the cinema) so they are talking about not filming the rest of the books! Arrgghh!
