Top Ten Tuesday Dino Terror!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

I really don't like the topic for this week. Who reads crap books they hate for bragging rights??? That makes no sense to me! And despite what our host has said, I have never ever read a book just so I can say I have or so I don't feel left out. I prefer to have a mind of my own thank you! So I get to pick my own topic again and it will be dinosaurs! Who doesn't love a good dinosaur rampage!

1) Rick Jones-The Valley
Contestants in a game show must cross a fenced off valley in Argentina to get big money. The only problem is, the valley is full of dinosaurs...I loved this Running Man style show where everyone including the camera crew are on the menu!

2) Rick Chesler-Landing Party
A volcanic eruption makes a new island but a landing party vanish while claiming it. A scientific mission goes to find out what happened and find dinosaurs are hatching out of the rock, looking for their next meal. Dino mayhem!

3) Viktor Zarkov-Jurassic Island
For the first time in years a mysterious island reappears and an expedition is launched. The rich man funding the trip has not warned the team about the dinosaurs that are on the island and with limited weapons, find themselves on the menu. Fast paced action!

4) Catt Dahman-Dinosaur 65 Million
4 teams of contestants are battling for big prizes but find themselves having to team up for survival when the dinosaurs start eating their team-mates. Lots of dinosaur action and death to enjoy in this one, first part of a trilogy.

5) SM Wilson-The Extinction Trials
After facing trials to get selected, 100 people go to the dinosaur filled continent of Piloria to steal eggs in order to make a weapon that will wipe out the monsters, allowing people to settle there. I really enjoyed this Hunger Games style dinosaur adventure!

6) Carolyn McCray-Neo Jurassic
After a nuclear war and robot uprising, survivors travel in clans, avoiding dinosaurs and Syns, robots designed to hunt down humans. Good dinosaur action and fights with robots but getting hold of sequels has proved impossible so far.

7) Dane Hatchell-Lost World of Patagonia
A scientific mission into a lost world turns deadly when dinosaurs begin to attack them. However, the biggest danger could actually be from their own team members. Good dinosaur action and it was satisfying to see horrible people get eaten.

8) Michael Crichton-Jurassic Park
Experts visit a soon to be opened tourist attaction, an island where humans can see dinosaurs. The actions of a greedy man sets the dinosaurs free and carnage occurs. I loved this book when I first read it and want to re-read it at some point.

9) DS Lillico-Domus
A team land on their new planet ready to start a new colony with their paired partners, unaware that the local dinosaur population have other ideas. It was a decent book though the in-fighting does annoy a bit.

10) Phillip Tomasso III-Extinction
A crew explore a new planetto solve overpopulation issues but the local wildlife become hostile. with a disaster looming and repairs against the clock, can the crew survive? I'd like to read a few more dinosaur planet plots.

  1. I'm glad you liked The Extinction Trials. I don't know why I've waited so long to grab a copy. I'm glad we were both rebels this week! I've not been doing the best with the topics they've selected lately. Dinos are always fun!

    1. I've planned my TTT for the next 8 weeks and I think I'm just doing 3 of their topics and the rest are my own! My reading at the moment is geared to the topics I'm planning-all of them horror of course!

  2. I feel bad calling myself a horror lover when I haven’t read Jurassic Park. I saw the movie when I was a kid. That should count for something! I swear I’ll read it someday.

  3. lol, I'm so glad that bragging rights thing rubbed you the wrong way too. I had a whole written up and then trashed it because it didn't feel right. I don't read stuff to brag about it which is quite apparent in some of choices :) I like your take on things.

    1. It just seemed such a dumb concept! I get having to read a book for school when you hate it but reading for bragging rights? I don't know a single person who would be impressed by me doing that!

  5. I am all about dino rampages! Yay for this topic. :) I read Jurassic Park for the first time a few years ago and loved it. Lost World of Patagonia sounds awesome too, I've always thought South America seemed like a good place to have lost valleys or whatever full of dinos!

    1. LWOP was interesting...the characters are not nice but I did find it fun to see who would betray who and why! And of course there were dinosaur attacks. I plan to read the sequel soon. South America makes a great setting.
