Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

This has been an interesting week. I finally started reading again, which I've hardly done in the last two months, so that was something of a relief. I'm about 16 books behind on my Goodreads Challenge but I think I can catch up by the end of the summer or autumn if everything goes well. I'm feeling a lot happier about it. I hope I can keep the reading going and not hit my usual summer slump! I've treated myself to a few horror monster books as a reading reward and I'll be sharing these books on my post today.

I've been pretty busy this week and haven't got as much posted as I hoped. I've also been busy getting a bit more done on the computer which has been really time consuming and frustrating-but it is something that I've ignored for too many years! I'm still doing the big tidy up in the house which has ground to a halt because of my dad's back. I'm hoping to get a lot done next week and feel as if progress is being made!

And just to show how our garden is becoming a haven for dozing foxes, this one has been sunning itself all week in the garden!

Chuckles Blogging World
I feel as if I have been playing catch up all week again and not having time to catch up each day on blog visits and comments. I've given priority to blog visits and will catch up on the comments on my blog after I post this. Time has not been my friend this week!

  1. I am so happy to hear you are out of your reading slump. I have been in those and I hate them. I think ash is in one right now and she is trying to find the book to get her out of it.
I want to read extinction trials. There are so many books you showcased here that I must check out! all the covers are so retro looking too.

    1. This was the worst slump ever I think! It's such a relief to be back reading again and not getting stressed about tbrs and stuff. I just hope it lasts through the summer so I can catch up on my Goodreads challenge!

  2. oh and the cute foxes. I am so jealous. Foxes just run here if they aren't chased off by the city life first!

    1. He's quite a young fox so it's unusual to get one like like making himself comfy! We don't mind as he doesn't cause any bother! I've hand fed foxes in our garden before so we like them!

  3. I know you probably don't want them around but isn't that fox the cutest thing? I'd freak if they were hanging in my garden though. I love the looks of Troll Night and had to check and see if I own it - I do! I think I remember grabbing it for free once. Glad the reading is picked up and forget Goodreads. Only they can make us feel bad about a goal we set ourselves in the first place!!!!Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. I love foxes! I've been licked by a playful fox cub, hand fed the most gorgeous adult male and we leave food out a couple of times a week if we have leftovers so we're used to seeing them a lot. Less trouble than cats! This guy enjoys dog biscuits!

Troll Night just grabbed me with the cover and I kind of had to download it! Lots of interesting horror grabs this week!

  4. I’m glad you’re feeling happier about your reading. I hope the slump is over. Cute fox! Are your foxes friendly, or do you have a zoom lens on your camera? If I got that close to a fox around here, it would rip my face off.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

    1. This guy is a bit nervous so we just leave him fresh water and throw out a few dog biscuits or scraps every few days for him to get later. He watches us at the window and then feels secure enough to flop down and sleep. I took these photos with a zoom from my window but he was halfway down the garden dozing so maybe about seven metres away? We get a ton of foxes in the area and some are quite friendly once they know your scent and associate it with the food. I've hand fed one guy who was friendly and others come into the garden when we are outside and don't bother with us. So our urban foxes are quite laid back and have never shown any aggression. We are always careful and let the foxes come to us if they choose to rather than spook them.

  5. Looks like you picked up some goodies for yourself! That Pinborough book sounds extra good and I don't think it's one I own (yet). I hope you enjoy them and cute little foxes. I see them walking through the city and suburbs and on the edges of highways. They are everywhere!

    1. Urban foxes are so common these days. They are forever setting off our security lights! I do enjoy watching them in our garden.

    1. It's easing off a bit now but we're way behind on what we need to get done so we need to get moving with stuff this week. Ugh!

    1. Our foxes are so dog like. They are so very gentle in taking food from your hand which I found surprising. I think foxes are gorgeous!

    1. We get a lot of urban foxes in my town but we're up on the outskirts of the town where there are parks and open spaces so I guess we're close to the rural areas!

  12. Ooh glad you're reading again! It's funny, when I saw the cover of Shark it reminded me of creature from the Black Lagoon, since I was just watching that the other night. Must be the tropical vegetation and the old boat. :)

    Lake Lurkers looks pretty good!

    1. I'm 15 books behind which is annoying and I don't want to just cheat and read a pile of really short stories! I'm enjoying my 'scary expeditions' books at the moment so I'll continue with that for the time being.

  15. Oh wow, that fox! Great photos! :D

Glad you started reading again. <3 Slumps are just nasty -- I always feel so wrong not reading, even though I don't feel like doing it.
