Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
It has been a long and tiring week! If you have been following my blog you'll know that my dad and I have been working on reorganising and deep cleaning the entire house over the last few weeks. Basically we have neglected the house for too many years and it's taking a lot of effort to get things back into a tidy and user friendly condition! We stopped yesterday to have a rest over the weekend but good progress has been made. We still need a new carpet for the living room but that might have to wait until next year as we have more to do in the house and garden. Over the next two weeks we'll be doing more in the house so my blogging may be affected, though all my regular posts will go up as usual. I had little time online this week so today I'm getting caught up with blog visits.

I haven't done any buying or downloading this week but I do have more from the last few weeks that I haven't shared with you yet. Reading has been a bit sporadic but at the start of the week I did read a pile of short story and serial novel parts for new authors I'd discovered and I read the whole of the Yeti novel which I've really enjoyed. Overall I'm happy enough with my week as I did a lot of flopping on my bed and tv watching!

I've been playing catch up because I was offline at the start of the week to get my house into order so I'm still a bit behind but hope to catch up today.

I've finished and enjoyed Rick Chesler's The Yeti. I think I might continue with his books and read DMZ, along with Hunter Shea's Fury of the Orcas. Still want to maybe fit in Behemoth.

Next week on the blog
It'll be just my usual weekly posts as I continue with the house clearing!

  1. Nice haul of books. Need to check a few of these out that I don't have. I'm doing a lot of house cleaning too. Internet is out and they won't be able to come fix it until June 1st. I'll be it or miss on visiting ya til then. Have a great weekend:)

    1. You don't realise how much you use the internet each day until something isn't working. Hope you get back online soon!

  2. I'm curious what you think about Shea's Fury of the Orcas. That's probably my least fave from him so far. I've never even heard of Hell Hole! Another to check out:) I'm glad you and your father are taking a rest. Sounds like it's much deserved!

    1. My dad has just finished it and he liked it so I figure I better get it read soon! I've certainly heard mixed things about it. I stumbled across Hell Hole this week for the first time. I haven't read any of his paranormal hunter series so not sure about them yet.

    1. I think I might need to treat myself to a few books as reward...!

  4. Fury of the Orcas sounds terrifying, heh. Those things can be vicious, even though they seem so lovable in so much popular culture.

    1. I like his books as each one has a different monster in it. It's been a long time since I saw or read anything on orcas!

  6. Good luck with getting the house in order! Enjoy your new books. Fury of the Orcas sounds terrifying. I’ve seen Orcas in the wild, and I wouldn’t want to mess with one.

    1. Another week of work lies ahead and the worst of it is the weather is pretty warm. It's the last thing we need! We're hoping to finish the kitchen and the last of the 'find a home for the junk' saga! After the stuff I've read recently, I have a lot of new beasts to be afraid of!

  7. It's great that you and your dad are cleaning and doing the garden. I wish I had a green thumb my yard/garden need help in a desperate way. With school I don't have much time myself. Have a great week and hope you have a restful weekend! =)

    1. The garden will mostly be my dad. We have tarps down now to try and kill all the weeds and then we'll dig them up and add topsoil and a ton of gravel to put on top of the area. I hope we can then plant flowers and herbs next spring! We tried those sheets to stop weeds but the gits grew up through them!

  8. All that cleaning and gardening makes me exhausted just reading about it! I've finally started hiring someone to do spring cleaning for me because to say I suck at it is putting it VERY mildly. Enjoy your reading and hope you get some relaxing time in this week!

    1. It's going to be a busy week in the house for sure! A lot of it is surface stuff and things we need to find a permanent home for instead of shifting it from one room to the next. Time consuming but we'll get there. After that we need to tackle the garden this summer and try to get it finished. I don't think there will be time for much relaxing this week but maybe we'll take a week off next week!

  9. I feel for you. Deep cleaning like you are doing with your dad is just so exhausting. It should be worth it in the end but so much work in the meantime. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books.

    1. We should never have let it get to this stage but there's no point moaning about it now, we just need to get on with it! Ugh, such fun! As you say, it'll feel worth it when we finish!
