Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

I can't believe it is the end of another week and time for another roundup. I've been busy this week getting started on the long overdue spring cleaning. I can happily report that the bathroom surfaces are gleaming and as soon as that power steam gadget is fixed, I'm treating the wallpaper, skirting boards and wooden floor to a deep clean! My dad is currently dealing with the kitchen, battling the mice again. The kitchen wall paper will be getting the steam treatment too. I'm going through the cupboards to get rid of all the things we don't need (off to the charity shop) and then we're building a made to measure cupboard to store all the food a bit better. After that it is time to move all the living room furniture into it's new arrangement. I'm dreading it. Six bookcases to be emptied, moved and refilled. A heavy cabinet with tons of breakable ornaments, computer desk and chair, sofa and two chairs, heavy TV unit...ugh! The garden needs plenty done too. Need that all done before end of summer.

I've still been picking up book bargains online...I mean, it's rude not to! There are a lot waiting to be uploaded and I'll get round to it, with the other computer tasks that need doing. I have to go through all my files and declutter, organise my Goodreads shelves and get everything labelled correctly, get my files onto disk for easier access, book cull of my ereaders as my Kobo is full, get priority reading lists done...and more. It's depressing just thinking about it. On the reading side of things I'm feeling that I want to start reading again so maybe things will be ok!

  1. Wow, sounds like you are busy. That does sound like a lot of work for the living room but hey, it might be fun to go through all your books again. I'm so waiting for your thoughts on Extinction Trials and wish my library would finally get a copy!

  2. Good luck with the spring cleaning! I need to do some of that, too. My carpets are disgusting from the dogs and the snow. Have a great week.

    1. I'm working on my bedroom today. A swivel chair from my uncle's house is moving into my room as a reading chair tomorrow so I need to clear a space today!

  4. Man it's the weekend already? Not that I'm complaining ha ha! Good luck with the moving. Ugh no fun I imagine but nice when it's done. Hopefully you get some reading time in too! Dinosaur Summer looks interesting. Really anything with dinosaurs gets my attention...

    1. It's intimidating to look at everything needing doing but I guess with a bit at a time we'll get there! I finally read last night! It was such a relief and I finished The Extinction Trials...I really liked it!

  5. I definitely gave the stink-eye to the book about Camilla. Now that you've done your spring cleaning, feel free to do mine! Enjoy your weekend :)

    1. I like Camilla! I liked that she was the only one who kept her mouth shut through the whole divorce thing when others were on tv trying to win sympathy for their causes!

  6. I need to do some spring cleaning myself but I keep putting it off because who wants to clean :) Sounds like the furniture moving will be a really big job with so many bookcases and items to get moved. I see that you added The Boy on the Bridge. I do want to read that one since I loved The Girl with all the Gifts. Have a great week!

    1. I think clean is overrated really...My dad isn't feeling great with back problems so I need to take over the kitchen but time is my enemy! I really want all this stuff done before June so I can concentrate the summer on all the stuff I need to clear out of the computer!

  7. Steam cleaning - love it. Not many do it but it's nice to get that done. By the time you get all the house and garden done it will be winter! Oh, I do not envy you. Have a great week with all those awesome books going!

    1. I'm hoping it will liven up the wallpaper a bit as I really don't want to decorate the kitchen and bathroom again!

  9. Oh wow your spring cleaning results sound fantastic! GO Chuckles! UGH mice! They are so hard to address! So go dad too! :) Sounds like A :OT of work so hopefully you can get it done soon :) I think I'd like the garden work more :)

    1. Just a little bit done but a lot still to do! The kitchen looks like a bomb hit it and things have paused because my dad's vack is playing up. I need to get to that tomorrow if I can. Clearing years of files on the computer and giving the Goodreads shelves an overhaul will take weeks if I'm lucky! Ugh it is depressing to think about it all! I need a tribe of house elves!

  10. ugh I'm sorry if this is a duplicate because I think my PC glitched! I had said Go Chuckles! for all that hard work and Go Dad! for fighting the mice! They are so hard to tackle. I hope you both can get all that done soon because it sounds like a lot. Then maybe go out to do the garden and relax :)

    1. Jeez I do hate hard work! It's just too much effort for a sloth like me! Bloody mice are so persistant!

  11. Chuckles you need a cat. I'd be happy to send you one :) He's cuddly, cute and LOVES to eat mice (and laptop cords)! He'll also wake you up at 5:30 AM on the dot screaming for food. You will no longer need an alarm clock.
