The Great Chuckles Moving Day

Finally it is that day that I've been dreading. Yesterday we emptied the bookcase of dvds and packed them into boxes and moved the bookcase itself to the centre of the floor. Then we emptied the big display cabinet of all the ornaments-who knew we had so many???-moved it to it's new position where the bookcase had been, dusted it and the ornaments and then put everything back. It took the best part of three hours. I can't believe it took that long!!!

Today we want to get the whole room done and out of the way so here is the agenda. We move the computer desk which thankfully has wheels into the hall out the way which gives us access to the small bookcase with my dad's PS games. That, my lamp and dinosaur models will go into the space left by moving the unit yesterday. Into the space where that was goes my dad's cd and dvd units which of course need to be emptied and moved aside first. It'll look like HMV in here! The big dvd bookcase we moved yesterday then goes where my dad's bookcases were. After that, the computer desk moves to it's new home, the sofa is pulled forward to be nearer the fire and my dad's big chair moved. Then all the cds and dvds are sorted alphabetically and moved into their shelves after I dust everything. Groan!

The place should look much tidier when we're done but I'm dreading today! My dad's back shoulder and arthritis plus my wonky back and knees makes it a full painkiller dose kind of day! I'm trying to think of how nice the end result will be and not the hard work!!! Today I won't be on the computer at all as I'll be too busy so I'll be visiting blogs and catching up with all the comments tomorrow.

If I can get up out of my bed! Are you planning any DIY or further spring cleaning?

    1. See, like here. I used my wordpress address in that first comment.
It definitely isn't post specific, because now I can only comment using blogger in replying.

    2. This is really weird-could it have something to do with this new data protection thing coming in this week? I can't honestly see how but something is going weird between the 22nd and 24th. I'm defenitely set to comments from anyone.

    1. We're finished for today thankfully. We still have to find a new home for some stuff but we'll maybe tackle that next week after a nice weekend rest!

    1. I think it would actually be easier to move house-that way at least all the stuff is going out into vans! Trying to get everything in one room moved around without taking it outside has been very hard!

  4. Wow, at least it sounds like you have it all mapped out so I bet it will go as smoothly as possible. Make sure you and your Dad rest when you need to :)

    1. We're resting now! The back wall of the living room is full of things we need to find a home for and the hall is still messy but we've done a fair amount and we're happy with it. More work to do next week though!

    1. It's amazing how tiring it can be! I used to constantly rearrange bookcases and piles of books for fun but doing it now is so tiring! I guess I'm getting old...

  6. Once school is over for me, I'm redecorating my room. Going to repaint the walls (They're currently neon blue and green from when I was 12 lol...) I'll paint them in a very light purple and I'm going to bring bookshelves in. I'm going to help my sisters paint their rooms too. I can't believe my parents let us pick such ugly colors when we were younger xD I wish you the best of luck with your spring cleaning!

    1. We did the painting last year I think it was...ugh! Tiring and time consuming. I wish you good luck with that! Light purple is a good shade for walls. I had that in my bedroom for years. There is so much work because we've neglected it for years-now we pay for that mistake!

  7. You don't realize how much stuff you have until you have to move it! I wish you both luck and am glad it isn't me, haha. And don't hurt yourselves!

    1. That is so true! Looking at everything in the bookcases now, it doesn't look like much work was done but my back is telling me otherwise! Just aches though-we both avoided any injuries thankfully!

    1. Surprisingly, just the niggly back pain I usually have but not that bad really. I expected not to be able to get out of bed today so I'm quite pleased!

  9. Well, at least the work has started! I don't even want to entertain the idea of moving/cleaning up my shelves and stuff, it would be an impossible task.

    1. We've neglected decorating and keeping the place tidy for a decade so it was way overdue! It needs more work but the worst is over now that the furniture has been moved. Much tidier! It's a good start anyway.
