The Great Chuckles Moving Day part 2 and 3

Well it didn't go exactly to plan! (does it ever???) and at the end of day one we had only managed to put the stuff back into one of the dvd units. We just had so much to move to get into each piece of furniture plus dusting and hoovering along the way. Yesterday we had to move piles of 'stuff' to the back of the room to let me get my computer desk into its new position while my dad moved his entire cd collection to the hall-he still hasn't decided what to do with that lot!

We then spent the entire afternoon sorting my dad's dvds into categories. Martial arts/korean films, foreign horror, western, war, gangland/mafia and the western version of martial arts films that the likes of Van Damme, Chuck Norris etc appear in. Then we had to put each lot into alphabetical which was a nightmare with so many. I particularly hate titles that start with an actual number as my brain can't work out where that fits in with those starting with letters! My dad decided that it made more sense to have the martial arts and korean in one bookcase, so we did that, then put all the other categories into the second bookcase together, so I had to get all of those categories into one alphabetical pile. Groan!

This is our third full day of removals, trying to get a few bits and pieces sorted in the hall. It'll get half done today. We still have my dad's cds to sort out which will take a day or two as well but at least progress is being made. I'm dog tired though! Hope to catch up with comments and blog visits today and tomorrow.

  1. Did something change on your end here at your blog or is it on my end? I can only comment using my google account.

    On topic.

Man, this is turning into quite the undertaking, isn't it? Glad you're still alive and kicking :-)

    1. I haven't changed anything that I know of so it should just be the straight comment thing for blogger...mind you I know very little about computers. Ugh I'm fed up with the work but my dad has treated me to a meal from the local chinese takeaway so I'm looking forward to that as my reward!

    2. I guess it's time to investigate then. I used to be able to comment and put in my wordpress address instead of my blogger id. Now it appears to be blogger or nothing.
I'll look around and see if "I" changed anything. That's easy enough to have done accidentally!

    3. Computers are meant to make your life easier not drive us mad like this. I'm not sure how to check if blogger has changed something at my end...you know what these companies are like!

    4. Well, I don't know what happened, but here's how to check if you're interested.

      1) Go to blogger.com
      2) click on "Settings"
      3) click on "Posts, comments and sharing"
      4) there should a section titled "Who can comment"
      5) Verify if it is set to "anyone", google users, or "members of this blog".

That is all I could figure...

    5. I checked that out and it is set to anyone. Maybe blogger has been having a glitch this week? Hope it sorts itself out!

  2. Glad to hear you're at least progressing. Sounds like my house - things are never as easy as you think they will be - although in this case you knew it wouldn't be easy. You probably didn't expect this bad though huh?

    1. I have a computer desk area again rather than be marooned with my back to the tv so that is progress! It'll take more work but I'm happy with what we've done so far.

  3. This seems like a pain. Good luck getting it done! It makes me happy that I don’t have a lot of DVDs and stuff. Moving my books is hard enough.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

    1. It is a pain but it'll be worth it in the end...that's what I keep telling myself anyway!

    1. I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be but I am pretty tired! I think it'll be booky therapy when I'm finished!

    1. At least one issue always seems to come up to mess things up!
