Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

Another week marches on and it is the weekend again. Tomorrow I'll be having a long lie in my bed, watching the Royal Wedding as I try and read a bit. I like the arrivals and the parade afterwards-don't generally watch the actual service. Anyway, that's my plan for tomorrow! It has been a good reading week which makes me quite happy. I haven't been keen on most of the upcoming TTT topics so I've planned a few horror lists which I'm currently reading books for. I'm reading about deadly expeditions at the moment! Still to come are more sea monsters, snow horror, horror game shows and contests etc...exciting reads to come this summer! I'm still way behind on my Goodreads Challenge by 17 books so I really need to up my game on this.

I've managed to find a few more nice looking horror books but didn't go as mad as previous weeks! But you can never have too much horror, right! I've been busy getting the living room ready for the big furniture move next week. The house has been chaos since we got that new sofa and chair before Christmas and it was bigger than expected! Well we have a plan to get everything slotted into new places and we do that next week. We have pretty much finished the kitchen as well so by next weekend, most of the work should be done. That makes me feel a lot better. Then we can deal with the garden I hope. *groans*

Chuckles Blogging World
It has been a busy week on the blog, ensuring that I have everything still up to date, finally getting time to write a prepping post and working on a book tag that I hope to share next week. I'm happy with what I got done overall.

Book Reviews
I only managed to get one done but it's better than nothing! This is book five in the Kitty Norville series and I hope to get reviews of the next two books done next week.

Carrie Vaughn-Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand

Regular Posts
I did my Around the Blogs as usual this week but I was too busy reading to do any samples, which is promising from the point of view of the slump being over! Cover Love featured Lindsey Duga, Top Ten Tuesday was Dino Terror, Can't Wait Wednesday Coulrophobia and Books From The Backlog featured A Thousand Yesteryears.

  1. I love the cover of Behemoth and Blood Cruise isn't available over here yet. I think that one's on my wishlist already. Hope you enjoy the wedding. I don't plan on watching it but am sure I am probably in the minority. I do think it's awesome they are getting married. Hope you get the living room settled without any additional stress. Have a relaxing weekend and the boys said to tell Auntie Chuckles hello!

    1. I hope Blood Cruise doesn't turn out to be too slow to get into it! The wedding was great-I love all the pomp and ceremony and I've watched all the televised weddings since 1981. Harry is my favourite royal so I did shed a few tears! The hard work on the moving starts tomorrow so today I'll be ironing to get that lot out the way! *waves* to Booker T and Cass!

  2. Enjoy the Royal Wedding, and good luck getting all the furniture moved. I agree that you can never have too much horror. Have a great week!

    1. I really enjoyed the wedding and the setting was just gorgeous. Us Brits do this sort of thing so well!

  3. Those are some good looking books there! I want to read Brother & The Ritual.

  4. Ok, I have to ask. How do you write so many posts? I was looking over at your yearly post count and you write at least 1 post every day, if not 2 or more, for 5 years!

When do you read and how do you not burn out of words?

    1. I do all my blogging during the day, generally from when I get up at 8am, (earlier in summer as my bedroom gets too warm), and finish that at 3.30pm when I make the dinner. I do all my reading at night which can give me up to 6 hours depending on whether or not I'm tired! Sometimes I do read a bit in the mornings if I feel like it.

At the end of last year I started trying to get ahead on blog posts so I could get more time each week for chores and stuff. It took weeks to get all the posts written but I am now 5 weeks ahead on all my regular posts. It lets me take a week off for reading or illness without getting behind. That means I only need to write the book reviews and weekly round ups like Around the Blogs at the time I need them. I guess I don't get burned out with it all because I enjoy the posts I do and interacting with everyone!

    2. Thanks for the explanation.

And 5 weeks out. Nice! That is something I'd like to be able to do, but since I don't tend to do a lot of non-review posts (well, not a lot meaning a 1 to 1 or 1-2 ratio), I can only go so far out. However, knowing it is possible means I just might try and see what I can do.

    3. It is certainly useful if I fancy a blog break for a week or when I had flu!

  5. I just bought a copy of Island in the Mist! It came in the mail last week. :) Here's hoping it's as good as it looks. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. I've been waiting for the ebook to come down in price so I could grab it! I like to read the ebooks cheap then buy in paperbacks of those I like best.

  6. I've never seen any of a royal wedding before. I hope you have a relaxing weekend! You have some great books. I enjoyed Brother and Six Wakes.

    1. I've seen all the televised royal weddings since 1981 so I wasn't missing this one! Six Wakes is a bit out of my comfort zone as science can sometimes go over my head!

  7. Funny you mentioned an expeditions list. I'm doing a reread of Ararat. And that's quite an impressive batch of books. Behemoth looks familiar. I need to check my shelves. And I've almost finished my review for Into The Mist. Going to check out the others. Anything Yetis is a must explore further and Hungry Things and Recon Marines look good too. I hope you liked Hell Holes. I enjoyed both books.

    1. I thought Hell Holes was a decent read but I saw a review that it was about giant worms so I was a little disappointed by the demons! I'll be reading about expeditions gone wrong, dangerous game shows and contests, mutant monsters and psycho slashers over the next month or two!

  8. You got Brother! I loved Brother and can't wait to see what you think of it. I plan to re-read that book at some point. I didn't see any of the wedding. Once we finally got power back we had to take the fridge and feezer apart to give it a good cleaning and all kinds of other catch up chores. Today I need to get some food back in the house!

    1. I have two books by the author to read and I do want to at least get one looked at this year! I can imagine how much work you had to do after the power cut-it must have been a nightmare!

  9. I've recorded some of the Royal Wedding stuff but haven't had a chance to watch it though I've been enjoying all the pictures. I thought she looked lovely and the whole thing was beautiful. I can't wait to watch it. I'm behind on my Goodreads goal too. I've got a bunch of books almost finished so when I get those read I think it'll be better but the actual doing it is harder than it should be. Have a great week!

    1. I recorded it too! I hope to take another look at it so I can pause things and rewind to look at things again. I had to cheat on my Goodreads goal and read some short sory and serial novels to catch up a bit!

I did not watch the wedding except for the first few moments just to see the dress. Have a wonderful week!
