Versatile Blogger Award

I've already done this one before but since I was nominated by the lovely Sarah at http://allthebookblognamesaretaken.blogspot.com/ I decided just to do it again for fun!

Rules
1) Thank the person who gave you this award and link to their blog
2) Nominate blogs (up to 15) that you've recently discovered or that you follow regularly
3) Share 7 interesting things about yourself that people might not know

7 Things About Chuckles

1) My maternal grandfather's family moved to America before he was born-he was born in Kearny, New Jersey then lived in Yonkers. He totally loved NYC where he worked for years, before coming back to Scotland.

2) I studied contemporary science with the Open University as home study. The subjects were forms of geology, astronomy, archaeology, and paleontology.

3) Book buying is my only vice as I don't drink, smoke, gamble or spend on clothes, shoes, jewellery and make up. Books are more important than that stuff!

4) I now have 7 bookcases in my bedroom of varying sizes!

5) My children are my stuffed monkey (and other animals) collection from the Bear Factory and Build-A-Bear and they are always well clothed!

6) I would like being a vampire as I could just read and watch TV all day and night without bothering about sleep! As long as I could eat real food as well as blood!

7) If I won the lottery, I'd buy a big piece of land and build a full prepper compound on it. Some of you might even get an invite if the end of the world comes and you can reach me!

I never nominate people but if you want to do this, consider yourself tagged!

  1. Thumbs up for the prepper compound bunker. How would you setup the perimeter? Walls, fences or weaponry?

And at least your "kids" wouldn't make a lot of noise if you did get the bunker. AND you wouldn't have to share any food with them :-D

    1. Ideally, I'd want an underground complex on higher ground with hidden entrances-y'know the kind you read about in prepper novels with power, chemical toilets, water storage, rooms to store supplies and enough space for a library and some other people if I invite anyone! My own deluxe hobbit hole! Maybe I'd build a nearby house to live normally in with CCTV and a secure panic room leading to the bunker for SHTF. Very few people are allowed to own guns in the UK but farmers are so I'd set that up and get a permit then stockpile the bunker. Darrell Maloney's Final Dawn has the MCs converting a disused mine into a compound which also sounds interesting...The plan does need working on though!

You're right, my kids are perfectly behaved!

    2. Underground, good choice! No need for a perimeter then. Keeps things off the radar for the local populace once they begin to riot and whatnot.

    3. Now I just need that lottery win!

  2. I have also thought that being a vampire would be cool since I wouldn't have to waste time sleeping. That is pretty cool that your grandfather has lived in so many places.

    1. Now I just need to find a vampire to turn me! Where are Spike and Angel when you need them?

    2. I really need a Buffy binge watch! Maybe this winter...

  3. If I ever got a lot of money, buying land would be the first thing I’d do. Buying books would be the second thing. I want a cabin in the woods with a big library.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

    1. A nice quiet retreat with no neighbours, my own supplies and a big library room would be perfect!

    1. It's a pity we stay on different continents or you'd be on the list! You need to get yourself a boat and head to Scotland and I'd direct you to the compound!

  5. Awww, thank you for posting even though you have done it before. Just goes to show you that your blog is great, because you keep getting nominated! We are so very alike in so many of these, especially #3 of course, and #4. And please save a spot in your compound for Eleanor and I ;)

    1. No problem! It's not too hard to think up a few more things about myself or answer different questions even if I was nominated before. I always appreciate it!

I'd happily take in my blogger friends into my compound during the end of the world if you could all get here. It's a pity so many of you are in the US!

    2. Well good, thanks for participating :)

The whole 'ocean' thing does make this scenario a little bit trickier. Somehow I think swimming over is out of the question, haha.

    3. I think some of you might need to steal a boat together and come over as a posse! With luck if the issue starts in the US first you might be able to escape on a plane and get here before our airspace shuts down. From there a sat nav will get you to my compound! Yes I spend too much time thinking about these things!!!

  6. If you ever do win the lottery and build your prepper compound I want a tour! :)
