Chuckles Chuntering

Rain beautiful rain, how I have missed thee! It has been raining non stop since I got up this morning and I'm so happy that I could cry! The temperature is cooler but not exactly cold and it means all my garden plants are getting a good watering, which saves me doing it today. I was also surprised to see a sunflower plant sprouting flowers, which is interesting as I've never planted one in the garden. I love sunflowers so I'm pretty happy with that! It's made me want to plant more round the garden as they always look like such happy guys!

I have been glued to the TV over the last few days watching the cave rescue in Thailand, just like when those miners in Chile were trapped underground. While I am delighted that they got the kids and their coach out, I can't stop thinking about the poor brave diver who lost his life during the rescue. That does take the shine off a bit. I've been working my way through episodes of American Ninja Warrior season 6 which has been full of surprises. I'm so addicted to it! Just the US v The World special and then it's on to season 7! Once I'm fully caught up I'll be binge watching all 36 seasons of the Japanese version, the various team competitions, then the offerings from Italy, Australia and Vietnam. I'm still trying to get Spain and Indonesia.

Chuckles the Book Monster has arrived again, grabbing a whole pile of great looking creature feature books which will be featured on my roundup on Friday. I'm addicted to reading them at the moment. I have plans for new Top Ten Tuesday lists to keep on standby for when I don't like the chosen topic so I'll be hunting down these horror topics-trailer parks, circus and carnival, theme parks, islands and jungles with traps, deadly expeditions, trapped in buildings, houses from hell, small town trouble and of course dinosaurs and monsters!

The other things I need to do but don't want to are to go through all my Goodreads shelves and get all the books sorted into the correct categories, maybe lose a few shelves or remame them. It will take weeks to get it done and I don't want to do it frankly! I also need to look at the files stored on my computer and delete what I no longer need. Then to do these TTT lists I'm talking about, I need to go through my Goodreads shelves and start getting lists made up for books I've read for a category ie Sea Monsters or Dino Terror, noting what I've already read that I can put on the list and which books I could read for the topic-then construct a reading list and when I need to read them by. Ugh! It'll all take ages!

Do you have any computer or booky tasks that you need to get to?

  1. I've got to clean up my blog. It's a mish mash of my times at various book sites and even before there were booksites. So I've got years and years of posts to clean up, tag, etc.
Right now, I'm working from '13 to the present, as I was on Booklikes during that time and only a bit of tagging needs to be done.
Then the real work begins when I start heading back from '12 all the way to '00. Sigh...

    1. That sounds like a lot of time consuming work! All the way back to 2000? Sounds like a nightmare! I made a start yesterday, splitting my short story shelf into short story, novella and anthology. It took ages but at least I did one small bit I guess. Urgh!

  2. I’ve been watching the cave rescue, too. I’m glad that all the kids are safe. Good luck with sorting your Goodreads shelves! I only use Goodreads to track which books I’ve read, so my account isn’t too crazy.

    1. Poor Bookstooge has a lot more to do so I shouldn't complain! These tasks are just so frustrating and time comsuming that you put them off until things are out of control. It sounds like you took a more sensible approach than me!

  3. Glad you are getting some rain. We also watched the rescue and am so glad it worked out okay. I heard today a movie is already in the works. I hope the kids get some of the proceeds from it. I love sunflowers too! My Goodreads shelves are a mess - pretty sad when even your virtual shelves are messy huh?

    1. It rained most of the morning and the temperature stayed down which was nice. Today is overcast and cool but it's just past 7am so I hope it doesn't heat up too much. No surprise that they are already looking for a way to milk this story-like you said, I hope the kids get the benefit, not just Hollywood.

My virtual shelves mirror my actual bookcases-a total mess!

  4. I've been watching the cave rescue and was so sad to hear about the diver but so glad the kids and coach were rescued. I need to clear out my Goodreads shelves too. One bookish thing I'm hoping to accomplish this week is to clear a shelf to kind of have a set place for incoming books. It's gotten a bit out of control lately! Yay for rain and cooler temps!

    1. I think most of us want to clean up the bookshelves-it just takes so long though! I'd like shelves for my 3 and 4 star reads but if I start doing that I'll start changing ratings which means changing blog posts. It'll start me off on more work!

  5. It sounds like that sunflower knew that it would be appreciated at your house. I am glad that they were able to get those kids out of the cave but very sad that someone lost his life. I always have things to do on the blog. It would be nice to actually get ahead for once. I don't really worry too much about most of my goodreads shelves. I want the read shelves to be correct but my to read is a mess.

    1. I've got this image in my head of a lonely wandering sunflower looking for a new home! I'm doing a bit each day on my Goodreads shelves. The plan was to reduce shelves but instead I'm adding more to make it easier to find what I'm looking for!

  6. Our rainy week just ended where I am at and I miss it already! I've been reading about the cave rescue as well and I'm so glad that all of the boys and coach made it out safely. As for computer tasks, I think I just need to buy myself a new laptop because the one I currently have is dying on me :(

    1. No rain today but it is cooler so I'll take that! Computers are useful but can be really frustrating at times. I hope you get set up with a working laptop soon.

  7. Uh, my brain is tired just thinking about my Goodreads shelves. They are a disaster and I really need to sort them out. I;m curious what creature books you have. I just grabbed 2 more. LOL

    1. I had my creature books in a dinosaurs-monsters shelf but today I sorted them into sea-monster, dinosaurs, insects and arachnids, normal animals gone bad, bigfoot and one for monster myths like Jersey Devil, Dover Demon etc. It'll make it easier to find what I'm looking for!
