Top Ten Tuesday-Bests Books of 2018

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

This was an easy enough topic to do so why not!

1) Carrie Vaughn-Kitty's House of Horrors
Book 7 in the series sees Kitty and a varied group of paranormals on a reality tv show that goes wrong when they are trapped at the nercy of lethal hunters who know how to kill them. I loved the concept and it was the best book in the series.

2) George RR Martin-A Dance With Dragons part 1
The standard of the series is kept up as Jon faces rebellion in the Night's Watch and Tyrion is on a journey to find his purpose. It was another solid book in the series and I look forward to reading part 2 sometime this year, maybe in the autumn.

3) Sonya Bateman-Master and Apprentice
The second book in the series following reformed thief Gavyn and his djinn friend Ian. As they seek to take out their snake cult enemies, Ian is the target of a death plot. This book was as good if not better than the first book and I hope she self publishes more of them in the future!

4) PA Glaspy-When The Power Is Gone
When the power goes out, two prepper families join together to survive their neighbourhood as chaos reigns, and plan a dangerous trip to relatives on a self sufficient farm. I love these EMP dramas and this was one of the best series I've read on the subject.

5) Nicholas Sansbury Smith-Extinction War
Book 7 of this apocalypse mutant monster series was the final book and it kept up the standard. It was all brought to an exciting and satisfactory conclusion, which was good. I love this series and I'm intrigued at the thought of spin off books.

6) SM Wilson-The Extinction Trials
This was described as Jurassic Park meets the Hunger Games and I feared it might not live up to the hype but I really enjoyed it. Trials and a deadly expedition to a dinosaur land-that is just my thing! I also read and enjoyed the sequel recently.

7) Jeff Strand-The Haunted Forest Tour
If you like a good creature feature with some gore and a high body count, then this is the book for you! There is a wide range of monsters and a high death toll, it was tense and exciting. Can't ask for much more in a horror book.

8) PK Hawkins-Titanoboa
I loved the idea of a mad scientist deliberatly bringing back extinct animals and releasing them into the Amazon to bring terror to a group of researchers on a boat. There were huge mutant snakes and pirhana fish eating people!

9) Tim Waggoner-Teeth of the Sea
Hungry pliosaurs are stalking the canals of an exclusive island resort and exiting the water to kill anyone nearby. This was exciting with plenty of death to keep me interested. One of the better creature feature books I've read this year.

10) Jon Athan-Camp Blaze
Classic horror slasher plot based on the Friday the 13th plot of a mad psycho killer stalking and killing the workers at a summer camp. It starts off like that and then goes into a whole new plot twist that I really enjoyed.
