Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!  http://www.brokeandbookish.com/

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

This Week was Yummy Foods mentioned in books which I have zero interest in doing so it's my own topic again. It's Ten Favourite Drama TV shows! Please don't tell me what I've 'missed out' from the list as it's my list not yours and each was selected for a reason!

1) Game of Thrones
Chuckles newest obsession. Started watching after season six aired and avoided some of the spoilers! Best thing I've ever seen on TV as it has action, humour, betrayal, great characters and you never know what is coming next.

2) The West Wing
I've always been interested in US politics (and history) as I have an American grandfather so I just loved this. The acting and scripts were great and you could be laughing and crying in the same episode. Loved it.

3) Buffy The Vampire Slayer
One of my total favourites! I loved the variety of monsters, the humour, the Scooby gang, the silent episode, the musical episode, had a crush on Giles...I loved this series and I really want to have a binge rewatch, maybe with blog posts...

4) The Tudors
Yes I know it wasn't historically accurate but I was addicted to this. I watch the box sets quite often too. It awoke my interest in the Tudor time period and led me to a lot of great books and documentaries.

5) Stargate Atlantis
As much as I loved SG1, this was my favourite Stargate. I loved the breakneck pace and the looming disaster which occured almost every week. Loved the bad guys and loved the team interactions. I'm not sure if I saw the final series so I want to binge watch this too.

6) Scandal
I've actually only seen the first season but I was hooked afdter the first episode. I love the team dynamic, the bitchy First Lady, the affair, the plots...so well written and exciting. Must be that love of US politics that made me love this one! Can't wait to catch up!

7) Beverly Hills 90210
This was my teenage guilty pleasure! I liked that the plots were a lot of things that teenagers had to face and I loved the mix of characters. The guys were good looking, the scenery was stunning and it was my favourite until Buffy came along...

8) V
I loved the original version with the dodgy special effects and slightly cheesy acting! I'm also a massive fan of Michael Ironside so I loved this! The remake just felt lacklustre and dull compared to this one.

9) Coronation Street
I admit it I'm a fan! I'm currently watching dvds of episodes from the 70's and I'm excited that the episodes from 1986 are showing on ITV3 in the UK! I'm a bit behind on watching the newest episodes but I have been recording them and will catch up at some point.

10) 24
This show was always able to shock me and the crazy things Jack did had the jaw dropping sometimes. I LOVE Kiefer Sutherland so watching this was a no brainer! I've got a few series to catch up with though.

  1. Awesome list. Of course GoT had to appear :) I remember watching the original V with my father. He loved it. I never got into 24 which is a shame because I've been crazy about Keifer Sutherland since Lost Boys!

    1. GoT will always appear! Have you seen Stand by Me? Ooh Kiefer was gorgeous in that! I think I was the only person in my school who never watched V at the time. I saw it years later in a rerun on satellite tv and loved it!

  2. I loved the original V series as well and couldn't agree with you more on the remake. Sadly, that's about all I've seen on your list aside from a handful of random episodes of 24.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thanks!

    1. That remake was so dull! The female leader of the visitors wasn't a patch on evil Diana!

    1. Some of the topics chosen for TTT really don't suit me so I thought a nice TV one would suit better!

  4. I ♥ your list :) I enjoy reading about tv shows too. Right now I'm loving Riverdale (it's back) and Leah Remini's exposing Scientology show.

    1. If I did a list of the series I haven't caught up with or haven't started yet it would take the rest of the years TTT posts to do it...at least!

  5. The Tudors is super addictive even if not the most faithful to history!

    1. If it gets more people interested in history, I'm ok with it not being totally accurate. I love the Tudors and it got me reading more about it and watching countless docs on the subject!

Sorry, I can't leave a comment on your blog as it forces me to log in using social media, which I never do.

  6. I know you did your own list, but your choice of Game of Thrones could totally work for the food topic this week too! Who could forget lemon cakes, mmm! Sansa has that right :)

    1. Maybe they should try another revamp of V and keep it more to the original and getting better acting and scripts!

  10. Great list! I’ve only seen GoT. I used to watch a ton of TV, but I gave most of it up so I could have more time for reading.

    1. Is it wrong to just want to watch Game of Thrones every minute of every day? What are we going to do when it finishes! I DEMAND they film Robert's Rebellion!!!

  12. Great list! Seeing your Coronation Street reminded me of my fascination with Eastenders when I lived in Swaffham. I have periodically gone on a YouTube bender attempting to catch back up, but it is impossible from the states really.

    1. I loved the early years of Eastenders but I haven't watched it for over ten years now! I still watch Corrie all the time though. It's hard getting episodes on YouTube due to copywrite...just wish the BBC would show reruns on TV!
