I decided to do a whole series of these discussion posts that let us say everything we want and enjoy every second of it! Please feel free to comment fully and without restriction!

It is important that you have seen all six seasons before reading any of these posts because these posts and blogger comments will be exploding spoilers all over the place. If you haven't watched the series and plan to, be warned! I take no responsibility if you read on and things are spoiled for you.

For those of you who stuck with me through my season one posts, thank you loads! Now I'm going to look at the main characters introduced in season two, what our season one characters were doing in season two and looking at all the bests bits. Enjoy the season two posts!

Bronn is a skilled sellsword, staying at the Crossroads Inn and he agrees to take Tyrion's money to give up his room for the Lannister man. He watches on as Catelyn Stark rallies the men there to arrest Tyrion and he decides to join the party going to the Eyrie, sensing an opportunity to be paid for his services. He gets chatting to Tyrion on the journey. When the party is attacked by the Hill Tribes it is only the skill of Bronn and Ser Rodrik that saves them. When Tyrion is put on trial, his request for Jaime to be his champion is denied so Bronn agrees to fight for him. He wins and leaves the Eyrie with a grateful Tyrion. It is the Hill Tribes that next capture the pair but fast talking and the promise of weapons to fight the Vale soldiers soon turns Shagga and his friends into an armed guard to take Tyrion and Bronn to the camp of a disgusted Tywin Lannister. Later that night, Bronn brings the prostitute Shae to Tyrion the night before the battle and he is instantly taken with her. Bronn and the Hill Tribes go into battle for the Lannisters for the promise of rewards, led by the hapless Tyrion who gets knocked out before it even starts. Bronn fights well and decides to go with Tyrion and Shae to King's Landing.

Bronn is summoned by Tyrion to arrest Janos Slynt for betraying Ned Stark and escort him to his transport to Castle Black. After the dismissal of Slynt as Commander of the City Watch, Bronn is given the position by Tyrion, as well as being a paid bodyguard.  He suggests that Joffrey might be less aggresive if he were to be given women to settle him down, a plan that seriously backfires. Bronn and his men struggle to restore order to the city after Joffrey starts a riot. As the battle approaches, Bronn prepares by killing all thieves in the city and reducing crime, to the concern of Varys and Tyrion.

Bronn and The Hound are both in a tavern just before the battle with The Hound taunting him for thinking he is a hard man, and Bronn refusing to be insulted. They come close to blows just as the signal comes to warn that Stannis is coming and both take their position. At a signal from Tyrion on the battlements, Bronn uses a flaming arrow to light the wildfire in the bay, destroying many of the Baratheon fleet. He returns to the main beach to join the fighting when Stannis lands, just in time to save the life of The Hound. Bronn survives the battle, losing his role as Commander of the City Watch when Tywin returns to King's Landing but is knighted for his service, becoming Ser Bronn of the Blackwater.

Shae was with one of the Lannister men at Tywin's camp when Bronn decides to take her for Tyrion. The three bond and Shae is quite taken by Tyrion after hearing the story of his wife. She is smuggled into King's Landing by Tyrion, but has to stay hidden for fear of Cersei or Tywin finding out she is there. Shae meets Varys soon after arrival and he agrees to be her friend and tell nobody about her. When she gets bored in his room all day, Tyrion gives her to Sansa as her new handmaiden but the women get off to a rocky start when Shae has little clue of what she is meant to be doing.

The women quickly bond and Shae becomes very protective of Sansa. She tells her that is important for her to trust nobody and Shae does her best to help Sansa conceal that she has had her first period, but are caught out by The Hound who reports it to Cersei. They are both invited to join Cersei and the other ladies in a chamber where they will be safe for the battle. The drunken Cersei torments Sansa and insults Shae when she is introduced. As the battle appears to be lost, Shae tells Sansa to go to her room and lock herself in until it is all over, fearing that Ilyn Payne may be ordered by Cersei to kill everyone in the room. She has a knife to protect herself from any rapist soldiers.

After the battle she visits the injured Tyrion in his chamber and begs him to run away with her to Pentos where they can be safe. He refuses to go so Shae decides to stay and they declare their love for each other.

Podrick Payne is a distant cousin of King's Justice Ilyn Payne and was squire to a lesser knight who stole food and was hanged. Podrick was spared because of his family name and sent by Tywin Lannister as punishment to squire for Tyrion at King's Landing. He gets off to a bad start by pouring the wine onto the hand of Janos Slynt as his farewell dinner with Tyrion and squires for him at a dinner with Cersei.

When the battle approaches Podrick dresses the nervous Tyrion and is there when Varys shows Tyrion the map of the tunnels under King's Landing. Podrick is at Tyrion's side in the battle until he is told to get reinforcements which he does, and then follows his master out onto the beach and the thick of the battle. When Ser Mandon Moore strikes Tyrion in the face with his sword, Podrick kills him to save Tyrion. Podrick is by his injured master's side as he wakes up after the battle, leaving him with Shae to go with Varys.

  1. Bronn is my sons hero. I love his sarcasm and how he owns what he is. Shae is not one I care for. Don't know why, but I just never warm up to her. Podrick is adorable. I still wonder what happened with him at the brothel. LOL

    1. I never much liked Shae. The way she bitched and moaned at Tyrion and kept having tantrums really annoyed me. As for what she did to him in season four, the bitch! Pod is just so sweet isn't he! That goofy grin of his! I love Bronn so much...hard to believe he was a UK pop star for a while!

  2. Bronn is a badass in the books and less comic relief, but he's a lot of fun on the show. :) Shae- that was tough what happened there. And Pod is pretty awesome.

    1. You want Bronn on your side in battle, that's for sure. I really hope he follows Jaime north so we see plenty of him next season. Ooh I hated Shae!

  3. Bronn is one of my favorites. He’s a badass who doesn’t bother hiding his selfishness. If he’s going to uses his badass fighting skills, he wants to be paid for them. I can respect that. Also, he’s hilarious.

  4. these are three of my favorite characters! One of the things I love about GoT is how true it stays with it's characters' nature! No one could really say they were surprised with how Bronn and Shea acted!

    1. I love that dopey grin that Pod always seems to has! Putting him with Brienne worked so great in the series. Bronn has always been a favourite of mine so I had some worried moments in season seven! I never liked Shae though...Tyrion deserved better!
