At the time I first read it, it had to be Harry Potter. The world building was amazing...the lessons, the spells, the creatures, the shops and a whole new sport! Also the first of the fast paced all action zombie books that I discovered-ZA Recht's Morningstar Trilogy. This opened my eyes to the existence of tension and action filled zombie books that had me on the edge of my seat! Also a mention to Franklin Horton as his was the first prepper apocalypse book I read and it entertained and scared me in equal measures, making me think about prepping in a whole new light.

There are a lot of endings that shocked or surprised me. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince had a twist that dropped my jaw and I loved the Battle of Hogwarts in the Deathly Hallows.

I read a lot of zombie and apocalypse books and lots of creature feature books, all of which are faster paced than your ordinary novels. But I really can't look past the zombie epic of the Arisen series by Glynn James and Michael Stephen Fuchs. There is so much happening all the time and so many loved characters in danger that your nerves get no rest! Prepper apocalypse books can also be pretty high octane.

Hmm, I have quite a few at the moment! The last books in the Arisen series and Extinction series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith are out this autumn which I'm excited about. I'm looking forward to listening to my newly bought audio cd of Stephen King's It, catching up with George RR Martin's Game of Thrones books and a few horror books that are already lurking on my shelves by Jack Kilborn, Richard Laymon, Hunter Shea and Jon Athan!

I always turn to Harry Potter as a comfort read as I just love it, sometimes the book, sometimes the Stephen Fry audio cds. I don't generally read 'feelgood' genres you see! I tend to chill out with zombies and monsters! I get the feeling George RR Martin is going to be added to my comfort reads once I catch up! Also never get tired of reading 'It'.

I do have a few favourite book covers with these colours. A good excuse to post them again!

I tag anyone who wants to do this tag! If you take part, let me know in the comments so I can come over and check out your answers!

  1. I did an autumn tag last year, but I don’t think it was this one? I don’t know. I’ve been blogging for so long that I don’t remember what I’ve done. Anyway, I love that cover of A Clash of Kings. I need to find those editions of that series. Most of the GoT book covers I’ve seen are boring.

  3. First of all, I love the covers you used of the HP books. Secondly, I just had to laugh that your "feel-good" book is IT! I don't want to see what you read when you want to feel bad! LOL!
