Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my new feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
Since I took that blog break, I feel as if I am playing catch up while running through treacle! I'm slow to get comments answered and time is not my friend for blog visits or getting reviews done. I'm not getting much done on the reading side of things as I'm STILL working my way through A Storm of Swords part one. Overall I'm not getting stuff done and it's frustrating! It has of course happened due to being busy offline and having a bout of insomnia so I'm tired and grumpy as well! Add to that the storm warnings for my part of the country with high winds and possible power cuts on Monday/Tuesday and that cheers me up no end! On the bright side, it's not a hurricane and I do have plenty provisions just in case we do lose the power! I hate storms though..

I didn't go mad with the book buying this week, just a few political books from charity shops which won't excite anyone visiting the blog. I did treat myself to new winter PJs though-pink with unicorns on them and a sheep nightshirt! Also a couple of packs of Nutella B-Ready which are yum but way too small. Three bites and it's gone! I also picked up five dvds in the HMV sale when I was out with my dad the other day AND the audio cd of Stephen King's It!

Chuckles Blogging World:
Running behind as usual this week...getting to sound like a broken record! Ah well I hope I get on better next week. TV be darned, I need a proper reading week!!!

Book Reviews:
I was a bit lazy at the start of the week, using retro reviews of books I read at least a year ago but I did get to share some nice horror picks with you. By the end of the week I had written reviews of a few horrors I read in August during Deep Sea Terror so that was something I guess! I hope next week I can post more new reviews.

Michael Hodges-The Last Colossus

Wrath James White-Population Zero

Stephen Knight-The Gathering Dead

Dirk Patton-Voodoo Plague

Eric S Brown-The Kraken Rises

  2. I hope you can catch up soon! I actually caught up briefly on reviews this week, but now I’m behind again. I’m hardly ever motivated to write them.

    1. I can rarely get motivated to write the things but I have no idea why!

  3. Seeing the author name Stephen Knight gave me a bit of a startle, haha -- he used to teach at my first university, and I used a ton of his academic books in my dissertation and essays. I'm going to assume it's not the same guy, but on the other hand, it would be amusing... Looks like a good haul, anyway! Still not kicked that reading slump? :(

    1. Nope, that reading slump is still here and I want to throttle it! I got a few chapters read last night but in a book as big as A Storm of Swords, it's a drop in the ocean. It's unfair on the poor book as I really like it!

  4. I sure hope you don't get hit hard by the storm. I hate them too. Hope you enjoy the It audio. I love the cover of it. Sorry you've not felt good or slept goid. You need a puppy to cuddle.

    1. I'm hoping it won't be too bad. On the bright side, I might get some reading done if I can't sleep through it!

  5. Well A Storm of swords is only like 10,315 pages so don't feel too bad! lol I love those covers you have though. Looks like some good DVD's- I heard Deepwater Horizon was really good.

    1. *groans* I want to finish this book! It's been really good! I'm about ready to slap Sansa for her treatment of Tyrion at the wedding. I hate book Sansa more than TV Sansa! I really like the look of Deepwater Horizon. I hope to watch it maybe next month.

  6. Playing catch up is stressful :-/ Your unicorn pjs sound awesome, haha, you should have shared a photo! Do stay safe in the storm! You know I know what it's like to lose power, so you have my sympathies with that.

    1. I'll get some photos of my cool evening wear later this week! I'm hoping we can avoid a power cut but at least we are ready if it happens. It could be a lot worse than the weather we get.

  7. Nice DVD haul. I still have to get IT. I'm torn about it since I liked the original and remakes don't have the best records. We;ll see. I fell behind last month because I was working on my 31 Days feature. Now I'm playing catch up for other reviews and trying to get ahead for the holidays.

  8. Sorry things have been frustrating :( I know the feeling when all you wanna do is catch-up, and instead things just keep piling!

Hope you have a great week :)
