Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my new feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
Saturday again and this has been a bit of a bad week all in all. I have asthma and this last couple of weeks I've found I've been struggling with my breathing and fatigue when I exert myself. I was at the doctor yesterday and my chest is fine so she's arranged a pile of tests next week, mainly bloods and X-Rays which I'm NOT looking forward to. Trouble is, we don't know when I'll get the results so I've got plenty time to worry! I'm that kind of pessimistic Chuckles! That has made for a fun week! Oh well, best get it dealt with.

I haven't got reading as much as I would've liked as my concentration seems to have gone south for the winter. It's annoying as I love my apocalypse books! Instead I've become addicted to military documentaries about selection for the various armed forces, y'know boot camps, navy school, that kind of thing. I love watching the tough training! I'm also watching favourites like Bake Off, Celebrity Masterchef, Great British Menu etc so TV time has been fun. The books I'd ordered have arrived so a few new books to share this week, and I've grabbed a few more samples to read today! I grabbed paperbacks of books I've read like Death Catch and Red Swarm, plus sequel to Death Catch and books I liked the sample of and splurged on.

PAPERBACKS:

Chuckles Blogging World:
I've managed to get 5 weeksahead on my Cover Love, Chuckles Chat, Game of Thrones Gossip and Can't Wait Wednesday. However TTT is an issue as the new topics for next month aren't posted so I might be going ahead to do my own so I can stay ahead. I did get film and book reviews done this week which I'm very happy about so I'm hoping to find the time next week to do more. I've got lots of great books still to share with you! Time has meant I'm still not getting as many visits in as I'd hoped. As always, a link is provided for each blog post from last week to take you straight to anything you missed. Comments are moderated so it might take a day or two to see it on the blog! Check out my Next Week section to see what is coming next at the Book Cave...

Book Reviews:
A nice mixture of reviews done this week including the return of my mini reviews post. There will be another of those this week as it's a good way to get a few short reviews into one post, when you don't have as much to say about it!

TBR total of books I own but haven't read yet stands at 822. Stop buying more apocalypse books Chuckles!!!

Currently Reading/Up Next:
I'm really disappointed by the lack of reading this week as I'm enjoying the series in question. There just seemed to be too many TV and news distractions. I did read Winterhaven as planned and I'm halfway through The Fractioned People and I hope to get it finished tonight. Next Up will Be Ben Reeder's Zompoc trilogy. Hopefully...

Next Week On The Blog?
Chuckles Cover Love features Grace Hamilton, Top Ten Tuesday features Autumn TBR, Can't Wait Wednesday features a nice horror pick, Game of Thrones Gossip features The Lannisters, Chuckles Chat looks at Genres We Won't Read. There will also be more blog posts from around the bloggyverse and we have Chuckles Goes Sampling and my mini review post. Expect some film and book reviews too.

That's all for this week! Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to visit my blog and leave comments. You guys are great!

    1. I'm feeling really tired and breathless as soon as I move-it's driving me mad but work around the house can't be put off sadly!

  2. I've been having a distracted week too, though I blame video games. I get most of my reading done while my wife's snoring but I can't sleep! Other than that, something always seems to get in my way.

    1. Life does get in the way of fun things like reading! I get bouts of insomnia a lot and it certainly isn't fun. It feels like you're the only person still awake in the hemisphere!

  3. I hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your apocalypse books!

  4. Sorry to hear about your asthma. My allergies and asthma have been acting up the last month as well until I got an upper respiratory infection that had me miserable and taking antibiotics for two weeks! Hope you feel better soon and can concentrate on your apocalyptic books. Talking about that... DID I TELL YOU I GOT EXTINCTION HORIZON ON MY NIGHTSTAND??? It'll be on my sunday post tonight :)

    1. Ugh that sounds really miserable! I hope we both feel better soon. Yes you can never have too many apocalypses on your bookshelves! ooh, you got Extinction Horizon! I really hope you'll like it or I'll feel guilty!

  5. I do hope you are feeling better. I always find that when my asthma flairs up I live in a constant state of fatigue :( Your body must be working over time. I have been locked in doors here with the wild fires and ash.

Those Zompoc trilogy covers are a tad on the creepy side heh. Looks fun!

    1. That sounds like a miserable time you're having there. Smoke in the air plays havoc with us asthma people, that's for sure.

  7. Drone Catch looks awesome.

Hope you feel better and good luck with the tests. My mom and sister both have asthma... somehow I got lucky. Hope your asthma settles down.

    1. I liked the first in the Catch series...zombie sharks! I hope this one lives up to the first. My asthma doesn't normally bother me but recently I'm just knackered and breathless every time I do something. It's annoying!

  8. Those Zompoc books look kind of good. Curious what you think of them. And I've been enjoying all of your posts this week. The Sharknado ones were a blast. Love those shows. I have to have tests done this coming week and I know what you mean about waiting for results. I hope you feel better!

    1. I liked the first one when I read it earlier this year so I have high hopes for the trilogy. I'm hoping the tests give an answer of some kind as just going from room to room in the house is leaving me breathless. It'll be a couple of weeks to get all the results which is a pain.

  9. I hadn't realized there were five Sharknado films until I saw them all reviewed on your blog one by one. Maybe they're just getting started :D
