Rising From The Sick Bed...

I had been suffering from a head cold for the best part of a week-the blocked sinuses, violent sneezing, slight aches, headache etc. Enough to make you feel a little sorry for yourself but nothing too bad that you had to bother a doctor or anything. Then last Wednesday I went from head cold to flu in about an hour. Fever, hacking cough that led to constant and scary choking fits, complete insomnia, nausea, stomach issues that I won't give details about...it was horrible.

I spent the Easter weekend in my bed feeling worse than I have since I had the flu when I was 12. On Friday night I was considering going to the hospital I felt so bad. I must have tried every home remedy I can think of, every cold and flu thing the chemist could suggest but nothing was working until on Tuesday I started taking cocodamol and ibuprofen together and today the cough, fever and stuff are all gone. I've just got a blocked nose and fatigue but I'm well on the mend now. The chemist thinks it was the Aussie Flu. Lovely.

Thanks to everyone who left a message on my last post, and I've now been able to answer them. I really appreciate your good wishes. I'm not going to be doing a weekend roundup this week as I didn't post anything but I'll be starting to do my normal posts again starting with Cover Love on Sunday. I'll be starting to visit your blogs again from today and get back into the routine. I've missed soooo many posts so I won't be able to comment on everything I'd like to get to but I'll do what I can. I'm just hoping that April turns out better than March did!!!

  1. I'm so glad you are feeling better and that sound just awful. Mr. Barb has had bronchitis all week and we've been hoping it doesn't turn into pneumonia. Just pace yourself and continue recuperating. Don't want it to flare up again!

    1. That sounds really nasty for Mr Barb and I have sympathy over a really bad cough. I'm surprised how weak I am and I still haven't got rid of the congestion or fatigue. Ugh! I hate illness!

  3. Wow. You really got smacked with the flu! My sister did too and had to go to the emergency room. Her recovery was slow also. So happy you are on the mend!

    1. It was a very nasty five days, that's for sure! Back to just a head cold but it's annoying to have it still lingering!

  6. Good to hear you're doing better! The Aussie flu is pretty awful; I haven't been keeping an eye on the data for that, actually, but it's definitely been worrying people who keep an eye on new strains of flu!

    1. I thought I'd done such a great job of avoiding it all winter and then I catch the darn thing on my one trip out in April-and that was a regular check up at the GP! Typical that I caught it there!

  7. I am so sorry that you have been so sick, Chuckles. That really sucks. I am happy to hear that you are starting to feel better. Take things slow and listen to your body. Don't worry about catching up with everyone just do what you feel up to.

    1. I'm still knackered and not sleeping great but the worst is certainly over which is a relief. I wish the last of it would go away so I can taste my food again!

    1. The hacking cough and fever were not fun! I've still got a head cold but it's not bad. I just wish it would disappear!

    1. That Aussie Flu was just horrible and I don't want a dose of that again. I'm glad that I'm on the mend. I dread to think how bad it would be if I hadn't had the flu vaccine.
