Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

I've had a very quiet week at The Book Cave. I've only read one book this week but reading wasn't really my main focus this week. I was having a relaxing time with less blogging and more slothing! However, this weekend it is back to business as usual and on the blog next week I'll be moving back to full capacity with book reviews and hopefully a few more posts. The plan for today though is to blog ahead and prepare some points for the weeks ahead before my day off tomorrow. Need to get my soup made too!

I've only read bits and pieces each day of the political memoir I'm reading but it's finished now and next week I'll be trying to get a couple of books read where time allows. I've been a good girl with the book buying-mostly-but I do have a couple on order. I blame the authors for releasing more books in series I like!

  1. I'm so glad you're enjoying some "sloth" time. It's much deserved. I'm so curious about your thoughts on Annihilation. I've been considering giving it a go but just aren't sure yet. Hope you have a wonderful day "off" tomorrow!

    1. I must admit I'm a bit unsure about it myself but in the end I figured I'd give it a go, based on the film coming out. It shall be a slothathon tomorrow!

  3. Nice to hear you're enjoying some down time. We all need that now and then. I had an odd week. Only reviewing one book but finished several.

    1. I've got a bit more reading done over the weekend so I hope to get a couple of memoirs finished this week. When I get round to reviewing them is anyone's guess!

  4. Hope you enjoy Annihilation. It was weird, but I had a good time with it, and I hope to watch the movie adaptation soon.

    1. I might end up seeing the film first, I'm not sure yet. I think it will depend on mood reading!

  5. Ooh, I'll be interested to see what you make of Jeff Vandermeer. I loved that trilogy, but it's very weird.

    1. I'm a bit worried that a few people are calling it weird! I'm not good with weird!

  6. YES!!! So glad to see that you grabbed Unbelievable. Will definitely be a good one, I think. I really enjoyed her perspective. The unfortunate part is that I remember when Trumplethinskin was singling her out at his rallies, and hearing about it and see footage. I can still hear his God-awful voice saying her name and kind of taunting her. Let me know what you think of it when you're done.

    1. I've been trying to get it for a while but finally got it this week after remembering to go looking again when I saw it on your blog! I'm not sure when I'll get to reading it though as I have a big backlog!

    1. I've just come down with one of those bad head colds that drive you mad-just as the weather warms up a little. Typical when I had a lot to do this week! Oh well, time to lounge around for another week!

  8. I love weeks when everything slows down and you can relax. I hope you feel recharged after some down time. I have had Annihilation forever and still haven't read it. Maybe I will get to it soonish.

    1. I had hoped to fully get back into the swing of things this week but it looks like another sloth week is coming!

  9. Ooh I'll be curious to see what you think of annihilation. I agree with the comment above by Bibliosanctum- it was kinda weird. But I still sorta liked it? I don't know, I'm ambivalent. :) I do want to see the movie.

    Have a great relaxing weekends!

    1. Seeing three of you say it's weird is making me think twice about reading it now! I don't do well with weird books!

  10. I want to get into blogging ahead. That's something I've never been able to do successfully. I want to work on that in the coming months. I hope you are enjoying your weekend! :)

    1. My breaks are certainly health related rather than holidays!

  12. I'm so glad you were able to take some sloth time. I start going a little mad if I'm working too hard and then I just want to do nothing because I feel overwhelmed. You still had a super full week of blogging though :)

    1. Reducing the posts these couple of weeks certainly has given me more time but it takes a bit of getting used to not thinking I'm doing too little!

  13. I think a week break here and there is needed or it is too easy to burn out on blogging. I really am looking forward to reading Annihilation myself as I've heard so many good things about that trilogy! Also, aren't they making a movie based off of it? I hope you have a wonderful week with lots of great books!

    1. Yeah there's a film out and I think I'll probably see that before tackling the book. A lot of people are calling the book weird so I'm a bit unsure about it!
