Chuckles Cover Love #68 Orlando A Sanchez

If there is one thing that makes a great book even better, it is when it has a cover that we love! The cover design is what catches the eye as we browse through a bookstore shelf or check out the Amazon or Goodreads recommendations. The right cover makes me look closer at a book, to read the blurb and maybe make a purchase. A poor cover might mean I never look at the blurb at all.

This week-Orlando A Sanchez

I've got the first book in the series waiting on my shelves and it looks like the rest of the series has great covers. I hope I like this series!

And a couple of short stories from the series!

    1. They are exactly the kind of covers that catch my eye and make me take a second look.

  2. I have to agree completely! I only picked up my current read, Illuminae because of its cover. I've noticed it, I guess for around a year or so, but when I saw it at the library, I just grabbed it. Since I normally do not read the synopses of books with great covers, those covers have to do double the work! Not only do they have to sell the book to the readers, but they also have to be intriguing enough, not only gorgeous, that we'll want to actually pick the book up and open that cover!

I sort of feel like a lot of the horror genre is missing this link. Some of the covers are so predictable. Even if they are good, it's the trope of a random zombie with blood spraying everywhere. We get it! Let's try a different cover why don't we!? What do you think about the idea that it seems like book cover makers (artists for lack of a better word because I have no idea what their professional name is) always go in with the trends? For instance, for years it seemed like paranormal romance had dresses on the front. I love seeing a cover with a different look that is still eye catching!

    1. That's interesting as I'm the opposite! I never buy a book without reading and liking the blurb! I agree that a great cover-and title-get me to lift it off a bookshelf or browse them on Amazon. It is so important that they are enticing and not dull as there are so many books out there demanding our attention. I also agree that horror books are guilty of bland and unappealing covers a lot of the time.
