Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my new feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

The wind is howling, the room is getting darker as the next shower of rain comes but I'm happy because we didn't get the forecasted s**w they said we'd get. I'm happily counting the days to proper spring for the first time in decades I think as winter is getting too cold for my aging bones! After my reading woes I feel much more settled and positive so thank you to everyone who offered support and advice. Oh and T*R is a new banned word on my blog! I've even decided that after twenty years of misery, I'm going to bite the bullet and go back to a dentist. Yeah, looking forward to that for sure. *sighs*

OK book buying happened as always this week, to nobody's surprise but I don't really care! I shall embrace this harmless vice in my life! (No I haven't been drinking!) I did buy a few paperbacks I've been wanting for a while. I also received a pile of ebooks from the lovely author Stuart R West which I'm quite excited about. Who can seriously resist the book title Demon With a Comb-Over???

Chuckles Blogging World
I'm now switching my weekend roundup post to every Friday so I can have Saturdays off the computer to read, follow the sport, lie in or do nothing! It's been a week of thinking things through and de-stressing and I'm in a happy place right now!

Book Reviews
This weekwas a slow week for getting stuff done on the blog but I did finish the last book review I had to do of the GRRM Song of Ice and Fire series so I'm all set to read the last book published so far and then wait for The Winds of Winter!

George RR Martin-A Dance With Dragons pt 1

Regular Posts
This week I didn't have time to look at any samples and I'm afraid my Around the Blogs post was lacking in content! Cover Love looked at Erin A Jensen, Top Ten Tuesday was books that disappointed and Can't Wait Wednesday was all about the Devil Sharks!

Discussion Posts
No Prepping With Chuckles this week due to a lack of time. Chuckles Chat looked at Book Awards and Game of Thrones Gossip was all about Bran Stark.

I have been avoiding reading this week for the most part but yesterday I did pick up a book at random from my non fiction reads and I'm liking it.

Not sure yet what I'm reading next but I might stick with non fiction.

Next week on the blog
I'll be going Around the Blogs as normal, Cover Love features Orlando A Sanchez, Top Ten Tuesday is books on my spring tbr, Can't Wait Wednesday is Blackout, Game of Thrones Gossip is Tywin Lannister and Chuckles Chat is Desert Island Books.

  1. I am in awe every time I see one of your round-ups and how busy and productive you are. I wish I was half as productive as you! Happy Reading!

    1. I haven't felt too productive for a while-just rushed! Things will be better now that I'm avoiding self inflicted stress!

  2. Good for you for taking Saturdays off! I hope you have a great weekend. (And I love the look of Dread and Breakfast! What an awesome title/cover.) :D

    1. Yesterday I got up two hours later (bliss!), curled up on the sofa and read a few chapters. Then I followed my football team winning again on Twitter in the afternoon! Lazed in front of the TV last night and overall had a good day!

  3. I just love non-fiction sometimes. When my horror and psychological thrillers aren't hitting my spots, I look to what I have in non-fiction. They nearly always surprise me! Ohhhh GoT chat! Jumping over to that now!

    1. I think when you're struggling to concentrate on fiction, jumping to non fiction can help. I'm reading a political memoir and I'm enjoying it. I'm not rushing to finish it or anything as I'm trying to be Zen Chuckles!

  4. I see Burn Bright! I hope you love that one as much as I did, Chuckles. I am so happy to see you taking some time off and embracing the book buying :) Have a great week!

    1. I am such a fan of Brother Wolf! I always get excited when he comes to the surface in the series! Other than this new one I'm up to date with the series. I do feel better not thinking about the book pile. If I can keep doing that I'll be fine!

    1. It snowed a bit last night but was pretty much gone by morning. Hope it stays that way! I've seen enough for one winter! Funny how as a kid I loved it so much! I'm looking forward to The Dover Demon for sure!

  6. Happy weekend! Glad the snow is holding off. And glad the reading doldrums are over too? I like that cover of the Briggs book. Even though I'm used to the US covers, I like the UK ones when I see them.

Dread and Breakfast lol- love that title!

    Enjoy your weekend!!

    1. I'm not out of the slump yet. I've been reading a few chapters each day of a political book and not caring how long I take to finish it. I think I just needed to feel that I could pick something up at random, read it at a slow pace and not stress over it. That worked so I'm hoping it's the start of me getting back on track!

    1. I didn't read much-about ten shortish chapters, but that's ok! Zen Chuckles will be ok with any progress from the last two weeks of chaos!

    1. I even had an extra long lie this morning! I'm feeling a lot more chilled out. The weekend post is one of those things that is great to look at but horrible to sit and compose!

  12. I'm glad you're feeling better about things. You had me worried there! That Comb-Over books is one I must get to before I die. As for the dentist, I wish you much luck. It's one of my big fears in life. I've had a bridge hanging on for dear life for years but I'm so afraid of getting the implant that I'll probably ignore it until it comes off in my dinner :)

    1. I do feel much better and a visit to the doctor yesterday calmed my nerves on a health issue so things are looking up-other than the dentist! I'm terrified of that drill and I need a lot of work done which means pain and sleepless night. I totally get your fear, believe me!
