Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my new feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
This week has been dominated by weather issues as the Beast from the East has come in from Russia and Storm Emma has come up from Europe, hitting the UK at the same time. On Wednesday we got hit with a foot of snow around our house. It's the powdery stuff that is easier to walk in but the wind is howling and it it feels so bitterly cold that you don't want to venture outside! Thankfully, I have supplies, a warm fire, and we haven't lost power so we are doing fine. Today the media reported that these cold conditions are expected to last well into next week which is longer than expected but it shouldn't affect us too much.

I am worried about a delay on my Amazon packages which are to come next week! I have ordered emergency chocolate supplies, books and slippers you can heat in the microwave! My little frozen tootsies can't wait for those bad boys! My reading has taken a hit as my bedroom has no fire in it and it feels like an icebox but I can't read downstairs while my dad is watching football. Gah, bookworm problems! I'm hoping to get up early and read tomorrow which might get me kickstarted. I have lots of good horror to read this month!

Chuckles Blogging World
Thankfully, we haven't lost power so I've been on the computer as normal. I've been able to get my next set of posts done, kept up with the comments left on the blog and visited as many as I could. Time has been tight as usual but I'm happy with the way the week went.

Book Reviews
I was in a bit of a mad rush to get my reviews posted and finish my books for Barb's Puppy Love Challenge. I was right on track until I noticed that it was the first of March and I wasn't finished...guess who forgot there were just 28 days in February! Stupid Chuckles! Oh well, I got 11 out of 12 looked at so I'm happy enough overall. Next I'll be on to my Monster Month of March so expect horror and beasties all month!

  1. I can never read while the TV is on either -- I have no interest in a lot of what's on TV, but the moving pictures just snag my attention every time!

Looks like a restrained week for you, new books-wise -- don't worry, I've balanced you out. :P

    1. I can read fine when the TV is on-just not when my dad is screaming at the TV at his horses or referees with parentage issues...Next week won't be restrained as I'm waiting on a few book packages from Amazon!

  2. We had snow yesterday as well due to the Beast from the East, I wasn't able to visit my friend because I knew I wouldn't be able to return home in this weather. Today the sun is shining and the snow has mostly melted. So, with the exception of yesterday it has just been a very cold week here. I hope the weather conditions in the UK improve soon! Have a wonderful week despite the cold!

    1. I'm just glad I don't have to go out in this mad weather! I did go out and clear the path of the snow which was back breaking but I must look after the Amazon delivery men! I hope you aren't getting the weather too bad!

  3. We have a storm hitting us since yesterday! ugh it broke two big sections of our fence and broke the deck on the lake! Looks pretty apocalyptic still! :) So glad you are always prepared! A warm fire, a .book.. that's all a bookworm needs huh? Hope amazon still manages to get there on time!

    1. That sounds nasty! Still as long as the family and the house are ok, other stuff can be replaced or repaired. It's a pain though. Stay warm! I must get a ton of reading done tonight to kick start the month. I just wish I had more than a small electric fire in my room. Ah well, I should be grateful as some people don't even have that. I've cleared the path for the Amazon guy so the rest is down to him!

  4. I am not a fan of snow. Stay safe with all the storms. It has actually been pretty spring-like around here lately but I don't think winter is done with us just yet. I am very curious about these microwave slippers. My feet are always cold so I could use something like that. Have a great week!

    1. Snow is nice to look at if you don't need to go out in it and can stay warm in the house! I hope to get the slippers next week so I can let you know how I get on with them. I really need them right now! Have a good week Carole!

  5. I hope your Amazon packages get to you soon. I live in a place that gets tons of snow, so I’m used to things being delayed. It’s still annoying, though. Have a great week!

  6. I am lucky, as I am totally able to read while the rest of my family watch TV or a movie! That means I'm with them - but still inside my book :D
We've had really cold weather, too, and we got a couple of feet of snow on Thursday and Friday. Today is gorgeous, though, not cold, and we can even see the sun and the blue sky - which looks awesome against the snow everywhere.
I hope you'll get your slipper and your chocolate real soon, Chuckles!

    1. I can't concentrate with my dad yelling at jockeys and referees sadly! I can concentrate ok with the TV or a favourite film on, or some music. Europe has been hit pretty hard too from what I've seen in the media so lets hope it keeps heating up!

  7. Good luck with the weather! Hopefully it calms down and warms up sooner rather than later. The LAst Flag looks fun, and so does Survive.

    1. Well my packages have come despite the snow so I can relax a bit now. Those furry microwavable slippers are cosy on the feet! The Last Flag is a decent story and I liked it but the editing was shocking!

  8. I am in love with that Harry Potter emoji - how adorable. Okay, back on topic. Glad the snow isn't causing tons of problems and I hope your slippers arrive on schedule. They sound awesome. I hope you like Tour of the Haunted Forest. It's one of my favorite covers and I already own it so I'm excited to hear your thoughts. Stay warm my friend!

    1. The slippers arrived at lunchtime so I was happy! My dad did manage to get out an hour ago to get the few things I wanted so all is well! I'm starting the book tonight!

  9. Looks like you've had a lovely week of reading, minus the cold! Warm socks for feet sound fabulous. I need to get some of those! I can't wait to read your GoT post! I still need to read the books, but I'm a fan of the show!

    1. Definitely doing that tonight! I have junk food and I'm prepared to use it...

  11. Wow, a foot of snow! At least you were prepared and stayed ward and cozy. I normally have the t.v. on while I read and blog, but we have 4dgos and it drowns out the noise form outside or they’d bark. So, I’m used to it being on. I don’t even pay attention to it, my husband asks me did see that, and I say no all the time. He doesn’t get how I can tune it out when I read. (He’s not a reader) 😊 Enjoy the new books hon.

    1. I'm glad we were prepared! Warm soup on the cooker, warm fire and clothes, junk food and lots of potentially good books! I can generally concentrate with music and TV but not when my dad starts yelling!
