Chuckles Chuntering...

This is my new feature Chuckles Chuntering, which will be me talking about a mixture of things that make me happy, mad or somewhere in between. I could be talking on any subject from films to sport to news to books and what is going on in my life.

This week, I have to start with the weather. It is predicted to hit 31C today which according to my converting thing means 87.8F. It's horrible!!! Chuckles was not made for weather like this!!! It was really hot in Blackpool but you always had the cooling sea breeze there to make it better. Today it is hot, humid and no breeze coming into the house even with every window fully opened. I'm feeling very grumpy as it has been hot for nearly a week and it is predicted to continue into next week. Having the window open and a bug screen up is fine when it's cooler at night but it does nothing to block out the light or the noise of late night parties and screaming wildlife! Sleep is not in great supply and I hope this weather passes soon...

I have become addicted to watching Sasuke aka Ninja Warrior! I love the original Japanese version of it and the American version. I'm still trying to get the Australian one but it proves elusive at the moment. I'm also liking Kunoichi-Women of Ninja Warrior. I'm watching this in the dark every night this week (stops the room heating up too much). Does anyone else watch this? I love when that Japanese commentator shouts 'Jumping Da Spider!' For some reason he cracks me up! I would love to be able to get reruns of Endurance which I used to see on Clive James every week-it was mad!

  1. 31C is too much for my comfort as well, especially when I need to go to work. Sleeping is always a horror is such weather. It's getting hotter over here as well, but luckily nothing over 30C so far.

    1. It's horrible! I just can't get anything done around the house without sweating like a pig and my legs getting wobbily! I hope can avoid the higher temperatures.

  2. Hot summers are the worst. I always think of cooler weather when I think of Scotland. It's always hot in the summer where I live (Salt Lake City, Utah); yesterday we hit 100 (which is 37.7 in Celsius). And July promises to be even hotter. Ugh. It makes sleeping so hard. But then I don't love the really cold winters, either. :)

    1. When it goes over about 19 I really hate it! Two days in a row at 31 is a nightmare! I have sympathy for you guys that get it even hotter. I was in Texas in May once and it was pretty bad!

  3. Nope. I haven't seen it. Have to check and see if my son watches it. It's been almost 110 here with the heat index and almost 100% humidity. I'm melting! LOL

    1. Humidity being high is a real killer isn't it. I'm hoping that a breeze will get up soon. Ah well, more Ninja Warrior tonight!

  4. Oh, my sister loves Ninja Warrior and that kind of thing!

Also yeah, the heat here... nope. Make it go away.

  5. Like you my friend, I am not friends with heat. Thankfully where I live, the highest we got was 76F (24.4C) this week. Which was still a bit to hot for my taste.

My family and I watch American Ninja Warrior from time to time, but not often enough to consider ourselves as fans.

    1. We're never happy with the weather are we! I'm always complaining about being too cold or too warm! I prefer being too cold as that is easier to remedy...

I love this kind of extreme Game Show thing like Ninja Warrior!

  6. I can't stand it being hot at night when I'm sleeping. That's probably why we have a window AC and three fans in the bedroom running all at one. Although, in my defense, one fan is on the floor because of the pups :)

    1. Houses in this country are never fitted with air conditioning so it can be expensive to get in but I do have a fan in the bedroom for emergencies like this week! I totally understand having an extra fan for your furry guys. I get so mad hearing all the stories during these hot spells about dogs being left in cars or not carrying water for them on a walk...grrr!

  7. My mom watches American Ninja Warrior. I don’t think I’ve seen a full episode of it, but I’ve seen parts of it when she was watching it. I can’t stand summer heat. It was 105 here yesterday. (I think that’s 40.5C.) The air is smoky from wildfires and it rains ash when it’s windy. Yesterday reminded me why I don’t like summer. Summer around here is like the apocalypse because there are so many fires.

    1. Smoke from wildfires is no fun. The last time I was in Cape Town there were wildfires around the Cape and just being outside made your eyes water and throat sting. The hills near where I live always end up on fire each summer but it's small scale and easily dealt with. Ugh this heat is driving me mad!

  8. I don't think I'm going to tell you the temperature where I am! Though since the temperatures are usually in the 90s for a few months we are used to dealing with it which probably makes it way easier. Plus we have central AC so there is some relief! Hopefully the heat will drop soon so you can get some sleep. Ninja Warrior looks so good though I've never watched a full episode. I'm fascinated by the idea of the Japanese version. I feel like I need that in my life! I used to love the Japanese Iron Chef.
