Hi everyone! I'm finally back online so I'll tell you what I've been up to. The plan was to take a week to rest and relax at home and fit in some reading but my dad surprised me by sneakily booking a full week's holiday at Blackpool, my favourite place! I got home yesterday afternoon but only managed to get a few blogs visited before I retreated upstairs to unpack! Dad figured that we needed a proper break, a bit of fresh air and an excuse to spend money on things we love like dvds and books! Who was I to argue! I took my furry monkey Wong with me, as seen in the photos, above at Blackpool Tower, and below with Central Pier behind him.
The weather was in the 20's all week which was a surprise. Usually Blackpool is quite windy and you get rain at some point during your stay but other than a sea breeze it was hot and a bit humid for seven days. A bit of a shock to my system but I won't complain as on our last visit it rained all week with high winds and we hardly got out! When we arrived on Sunday we were going for a walk along the south beach, chomping a jumbo hotdog with onions and tomato sauce...yum! Monday was a similar day then on Tuesday we went to the shopping area around the Tower where I went to Waterstones and then we hit HMV and spent a lot! We also got photos of a war plane being displayed on the prom, see below. It was a bit breezy so sadly they had to take the wings off!
On Wednesday we went along the coast on the tram to the seaside area of Cleveleys where my dad hunted through the numerous charity shops while Wong and I sat on the sea front and watched the boats go by, see below. They had one of those cool advertising inflatable things that dance about which I had to photograph. You can see my dad in the middle one.
Thursday saw us going shopping where I got Prince Harry and Meghan stamps and a souvenir spoon for my collection. My dad was in the charity shops, buying fancy dragon shirts from a market and the betting shop...and he won!
On Friday we travelled the full 11 miles by tram to the port of Fleetwood. It has an RNLI lifeboat station so I bought a few things from their shop to make a donation including some cheesy biscuits, clotted cream shortbread, an RNLI hat and fudge for my dad! We had a nice rest in the beautiful gardens beside the seafront so my dad could birdwatch, a stroll on the seafront and then back on the tram to HMV and Waterstones again!
I'll be talking more about my purchases on my weekend post on Friday. It took a while to unpack everything when I got back. Why do we always take a ton more than we actually need??? And now I have the washing and ironing to look forward to...groan! We plan on having a rest this week to recover from the sore backs, legs and hips that the holiday gave us and then get back into tidying the place up again.
Anyone had a nice holiday this year?
