Can't Wait Wednesday-Kill Creek

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at http://www.wishfulendings.com/ to spotlight and discuss books we're excited about but haven't read, which may not even be released yet.

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

At the end of a dark prairie road, nearly forgotten in the Kansas countryside, lies the Finch House. For years it has perched empty, abandoned, and overgrown--but soon the door will be opened for the first time in many decades. But something waits, lurking in the shadows, anxious to meet its new guests.

When best-selling horror author Sam McGarver is invited to spend Halloween night in one of the country's most infamous haunted houses, he reluctantly agrees. At least he won't be alone; joining him are three other masters of the macabre, writers who have helped shape modern horror. But what begins as a simple publicity stunt soon becomes a fight for survival--the entity they have awakened will follow them, torment them, threatening to make them part of the bloody legacy of Kill Creek.

This one has intrigued me since I first saw it on a few blogs as an ARC release and it sounds like my kind of creepy horror, though I don't read haunted house things normally. I do like the sound of this one. This came out October last year so I'm late to the party!

  8. I enjoyed this book a lot! It might be difficult to get into if you don't do haunted house stories since it uses a bunch of genre tropes, but I hope you'll have a good time!

    1. I'm always a bit wary of the tropes but it does sound as if it is worth a go at some point

    1. Where I live, there are some really good creepy places that horror plots could be written but nobody has done it! When I was younger I did plan a few but I never got back to my writing. Now I don't have the time!
