Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!  http://www.brokeandbookish.com/

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

This week it is Ten Characters Who Would Make Great Leaders. Well I'm going to go with something I saw on https://dragonsandzombies.com/ blog a few weeks back and tweak it slightly to do Ten People You Want On Your Team in The Apocalypse Part One.

1) Sarah Connor (Terminator)
Weapons are invaluable in an apocalypse and in T2 she had a collection to make Arnie smile. I want her and her weapons on my side. She can kickass, is a good shot and wouldn't hesitate to do what needs to be done to protect your community.

2) Alice Abernathy (Resident Evil)
Alice can kick zombie ass with ease so she can deal with any looters or psychos who pay you a visit. Skilled with weapons and tactics, she is the kind of fighter that you need on your side and being enhanced would certainly help our cause!

3) Carlisle Cullen (Twilight)
Next on the list is medical help so Carlisle is ideal. He is also a vampire who can cover night shift patrols, quietly sneak into buildings to grab supplies and doesn't need to sleep so is on hand for any emergencies any time.

4) Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games)
She is resourceful and brave and being good with a bow and arrow means she can hunt for food for the community as well as help defend against attack. She seems like the kind of person who would be a good friend as well.

5) Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones)
He is good at planning and would have lots of ideas for the community. He loves books and could be reading up on things to build, things to locate etc. He would also be good company to have during the apocalypse and someone to talk books with!

6) Legolas (Lord of the Rings)
He is skilled with a bow and arrow so could be equally useful in hunting and defence. He has brilliant eyesight for being on watch and his ability to move quietly would be an asset for looting and supply gathering too.

7) Sookie Stackhouse (Southern Vampire)
Security is a big issue in the apocalypse and it would be helpful to have a psychic listening in to screen all the new arrivals to ensure they are genuine. The only down side could be a bit of concern over invasion of privacy!

8) Burt Gummer (Tremors)
Who better to have ready to join you than a survivalist with a supply of weapons, water filtration, underground basement and boxes of MRE's to keep you nicely fed? He is a good addition to security and defence and might have a zombie proof truck.

9) Apollo (Extinction)
Every community needs a dog to go on guard with you and to just be there as a loyal companion. Apollo is a trained military dog who loves human attention so he would be perfect to add to the community.

10) Scott Allen (Voyage of the Dead)
When Scott won the lottery he bought a mega ship with every gadget you can think of including mini sub, helicopter, small boats. The ship has communications, weapons, entertainment and mass food storage so I want to be his friend when the apocalypse comes!

    1. Part Two next week! This was actually a lot of fun, trying to think of the best people to have on your side. Of course I'd invite you guys to my new community too!

  3. Awesome team. Sookie would be helpful for the reasons you listed, but I'm also voting her as the first to die. And Sarah Conner may be the one to do it. For some reason I don't see her and Sookie as best buds. I love the idea of having Tyrion on the team as well as Alice. Come to think of it, she might have a hand in offing Sookie as well. Fun list.

    1. Sookie might be the safest if she never leaves the compound but I don't fancy her chances out in the wilds! Of course you, Mr Barb and your furry guys are welcome to join us! I think I'd enjoy talking books with Tyrion!

    1. I think teaching your kids survival skills is a great idea. It'll be a weight off your mind to know that your kids will be able to look after themselves if you are seperated in a disaster. Next year I might be doing a prepper piece each week on the blog to share what I've found in books. Might be worth looking at with the state the world is in...

    1. The thought of Tyrion as a prepper really appeals to me. Hey, maybe they could do a time travel series with Tyrion adapting to each new world!

  10. Haha I love this take on things. Yes a nearly indestructible vampire who doesn't sleep and is a doctor would be a great asset for sure lol. So many great picks and I love the reasoning behind them :)
