Game of Thrones Gossip #41 The Good Guys

Welcome to my Game of Thrones Gossip, where us fanatics get the chance to discuss everything we love about this amazing TV series. I decided to do a whole series of these discussion posts that let us say everything we want and enjoy every second of it! Please feel free to comment fully and without restriction!

I have to warn you that it is important that you have seen all six seasons before reading any of these posts because these posts and blogger comments will be exploding spoilers all over the place. If you haven't watched the series and plan to, be warned that it's a bad idea to be here right now! I take no responsibility if you read on and things are spoiled for you.

Now I'm looking at the main characters introduced in season two, what our season one characters were doing and looking at all the bests bits. Enjoy the season two posts!

Osha was a wildling who was married to a good man called Bruni, who was killed and turned by the White Walkers. She fled south, joining up with a few other wildlings and using a ship to get by the Wall, running from the dead. The group attack Bran Stark on his horse, with Robb and Theon killing all but Osha, who is taken as a prisoner to work in Winterfell. She develops a dislike of Theon who throws his weight around and abuses her but Maester Luwin shows her kindness. Osha becomes fond of Hodor, Bran and Rickon but tells Bran that Robb's forces need to be going north to fight the real enemy instead of south. She is with Bran when he is told of Ned's death. Bran confides in her about his troubling dreams and is disturbed by the dream of Winterfell being flooded by the sea and killing Ser Rodrick.

Osha is smart enough to appear to side with Theon when he takes Winterfell, telling Bran that his dream came true as the Iron Born have flooded the Castle. She is shocked at Ser Rodrick's murder and decides to seduce Theon. With his guard down, she and Hodor smuggle Bran and Rickon out of the Castle and go on the run. Without food and being chased by hounds, Osha uses her brain and sneaks them back inside Winterfell where nobody will be looking for them. Maester Luwin finds them hiding in the crypts and shares with Osha that Theon claimed to have killed the boys. She agrees not to tell Bran about the fate of the orphans as it will upset him, not knowing that he is listening. When the Bolton men sack Winterfell, Osha and Hodor flee again with the boys on the instructions of the dying Maester Luwin, who Osha ends the suffering of.

Wylis was a stableboy, related to Old Nan but has become mentally disabled and only able to utter the word 'Hodor', which is now regarded as his name. He is big and strong, able to follow any instructions but is gentle in nature and devoted to the Stark boys. Hodor becomes the guardian to Bran after his accident, carrying him everywhere and looking after him. He spends a lot of time with Osha who treats him kindly. They both leave Winterfell after Theon takes the Castle, to save Bran and Rickon from harm. After the death of Maester Luwin, Osha and Hodor head for The Wall to deliver the boys to Jon Snow at Castle Black.

Ros is a prostitute in the town beside Winterfell, and had a regular client in Theon Greyjoy, who becomes jealous that she is sharing her charms with richer men like Tyrion Lannister. It seems that he loves her but she has no such feelings for him. Jon Snow admits that it was the fear of fathering a bastard that stopped him being with Ros or anyone else. With war breaking out, Ros realises that the northern men will be leaving and decides to take her trade to King's Landing. It makes economic sense but she has no idea of the consequences of these actions. She quickly finds a job at a Littlefinger brothel and settles into life in the capital. Soon, she is advising newer girls how to perform, showing her rise in status.

Ros is horrified to witness the death of baby Barra in the brothel at the hands of Janos Slynt, purely for being a bastard of Robert Baratheon. It very much upsets her and Littlefinger warns her that she is no use to him if she falls apart. Ros heeds the warning. Tyrion hires Ros and Daisy on Bronn's advice to see if that will change Joffrey's attitude but instead Ros is forced to badly abuse the girl on the King's orders. Ros herself is beaten and imprisoned when Cersei wrongly believes that she is the prostitute that Tyrion loves, and he is angry enough to threaten his sister for it. Ros is freed after Joffrey safely survives the Battle of the Blackwater and Varys asks her to spy on Littlefinger for him.

  1. Osha will always be one of my favorites!

Aj @ Read All The Things!

    1. Hodor's story was heartbreaking but it was one of the best GoT episodes ever! I've also got a few Hodor T Shirts to show my support for the big guy!
