Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my new feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

Another busy week on the home front. We finally caved in and went to look at a sofa-a two seater. I really hate this kind of shopping but we found something comfy and quite sturdy looking and it'll be delivered in a month or less so I can't complain. It also seems that the long running mouse issue is finally sorted so we can get the kitchen back on it's feet fully. My dad had to block the area around the pipes with heavy wood to stop the furry critters getting in. Now it's the living room to tidy ready to welcome the new sofa. And to cap it all I had to hand wash a few things which was really tiring. How on earth did women manage before the washing machine??? My arms feel like they've been pulled out their sockets!

On the book buying front I bought a few new books in long running series that I've been following, one downloaded novel and downloading a pile of samples to read. I was catching up on a few samples last night so there will be a sample post tomorrow! Reading wise, I read one book and two novellas which is better than nothing. Today I need to get a few posts for next week written out ready to go. I didn't post a lot on the blog this week but I am keeping up with comments and visits so that side of things is going well.

This week I read two Coronation Street novellas and I read Ripley's Game by Patricia Highsmith. I love the character of Ripley! I'd like to get the last two Ripley books read and dig in to A Feast For Crows but I haven't really made my mind up yet!

Next Week on the blog...
There will be Around The Blogs With Chuckles and Chuckles Goes Sampling returns! I'm hoping to do another book tag along with book and film reviews. 1. My house is next to a giant field, so we get mice too. A lot of the food in my cupboard is in mouse-proof containers. Have a good week!

    1. We refuse to kill the poor wee guys so it is time consuming to catch them humanely! I'm looking forward to the new sofa...then I can lounge around on a comfy sofa with a nice warm blanket!

  3. A new sofa sounds nice, Chuckles, even if it wasn't all that much fun to shop for it ;)

Your new books look great, I hope you'll enjoy them!

Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading.

    1. We got rid of the old one about four years ago because it was so big and took up too much room. But we missed it so we're compromising with a two seater. It felt so comfy in the shop!

  4. Looks like a quiet week, stacking-wise! Glad you can sort the kitchen out now. Rodents give me the heebie-jeebies...

  5. Glad Dad found the problem. I hate mice as they can be such a nuisance. The new sofa sounds great. We bought a new fridge and stove a few weeks ago and they are supposed to be delivered in 2 weeks. I hate furniture shopping too.

    1. I can now feel confident that the kitchen is clear, it is fully cleaned and tidied. Now I need to work on the final room which is full of my dad's cds and dvds which he leaves in piles everywhere! It's not much fun doing this essential shopping is it but of course it needs to be done! Much more fun shopping for treats...

  6. I've been cleaning house too. Sorting, throwing out, scrubbing those hard to reach and often skipped over areas. LOL And I'll be furniture shopping after the holidays. My sofa is old but didn't want to get a new one while I still had my cat. She's been gone a while now and I'm ready to get something new and comfy. Probably a couple of leather recliners.

    1. It's not much fun is it! I get grumpy when I need to get the cleaning done. This week I need to get a new duvet before I change the bed...a nice toasty warm one will be nice for winter as it is really cold today! It's nice to sink into something nice and comfy when you're tired whether it's a bed or a sofa/chair!

  7. We had mice in the kitchen and basement last year and it was a real pain to get rid of them, so I feel your relief now that your got your furry critter problem sorted!

  8. Getting everything in order is a lot of hard work. I bet you are going to love your new sofa. I am probably going to have to start looking soon myself. Enjoy your new book and have a great week!

    1. I have a nice warm furry blanket to cuddle under so that will be nice to flop on the sofa with! I wanted to get it out the way before the festive season starts and I'm glad it's done! Hope you get something nice!

  9. I like the sound of your sofa -- I am most comfortable in something sturdy with good support. I feel like I'm a 100years old typing that, but such is life with back problems!

    1. Back problems are no fun are they. You just can't get comfy when your back is growling!

  10. It's amazing how those little critters can get in. We have to keep an an eye for them all the time. Living up in a mountain we are basically surrounded by woods on all sides, we get them from time to time, and normally the dogs will see one before we do. lol..

Your new couch sounds comfy though. :) I hope you a fantastic week.

Thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post
