Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!
Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

This has been a week of getting stuff done, which is good. I spent a lot of time off the computer this week, and I enjoyed some of it-like spending three days constructing my Red Keep in the afternoons! It is finished and looks GREAT but I still have a post or two to upload about it so watch for that coming in the next few days. I also did a bit of work in the kitchen, checking the use by date on the bottled water I've stored, tidying my food cupboard to get a few new things in it and some general tidying. I can't say that was fun exactly, but it was productive! There was also the usual housework but that goes without saying!
I'm also trying to clear files off the computer which includes YouTube films and documentaries, music stored on the computer for my dad, e-books stored by me. I've made good progress but still have lots to do, plus I need to empty my almost full Kobo! The books I've read the last couple of days are from it so I can get them deleted. Reading has slowly improved this week. I've managed to read a couple of normal sized books which is an improvement though both are non fiction. At the moment, whatever I feel like reading is ok with me. Hopefully I'm getting out of the slump but I really feel the urge to re-read a few old favourites-but not until I clear some of the backlog!!!

Lots of work being done on the computer this week means I've had to upload a lot of posts today that were meant to go up earlier this week.

I've been watching a lot of documentaries this week, mostly Royalty. I'm checking them for quality and to see which ones I would keep and watch again. I've also re-watched a few Jurassic Park and Harry Potter films for fun.

I'm not sure what I'll feel like reading next but I just read Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson and really enjoyed it. I think I might be sticking with non fiction so these are possibilities. I also hope to get a few fiction books looked at if my mood allows!

I've not read Furiously Happy even though I bought a copy when it first came out. I have read Let's Pretend This Never Happened and definitely recommend you pick it up next. It's an awesome read. Seems like you did have a productive week. Of course I worked M-F and then keeping up with Apollo and Cass seems to be my second job. But besides the routine housework, I sat on the couch and read while my obsessed husband played Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteLet's Pretend arrived today at last and I so love that mouse! Furiously Happy was a really good book as was Hyperbole and a half. I might look for more books like this. I've been surprised to enjoy them. Keeping up with the dogs must be a real challenge as I'm tired enough picking up after my dad!
DeleteThe mouse on the cover of Let's Pretend This Never happened is so cute.
ReplyDeleteIt is so cute isn't it! I had to buy the hardback to get this cover as Amazon was selling a paperback with a hairdryer cover which wasn't very good...
DeleteI can't wait to see your finished Red Keep. You sure got it done fast. I'm struggling to find time to read. It's so frustrating as I have some I really want to start but I can't stay awake. LOL
ReplyDeleteI guess I learned how to do things like turrets on the Winterfell build so it was a lot quicker doing the same stuff on a second build. I've loved this puzzle! Laura, I think you really need a week's holiday with some sun and a few drinks!
DeleteI'm not reading a lot but I'm reading so I'll take it lol
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you're having a fairly good week. happy Friday!

That's kind of how I feel at the moment-any book is better than nothing! I have started going through my notes about books with mixed reviews and I'm targeting them to try and get some off the TBR to kickstart me a bit!
DeleteFuriously Happy is one of my favorite books. Congrats on getting a bunch of stuff done. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Productive is always good, whether it is reading or housework or building puzzles! I'll take it!
DeleteThe finished Red Keep must be so cool! I'm looking forward to seeing that.
ReplyDeleteI need to get a load of sorting done but I'm not at all looking forward to doing it even though I'll be happy with the result...
My dad seems to be enjoying watching me get on with the puzzle too! I wish the jigsaw ones were as easy! Sorting is good when it is done and progress is made. It's the doing it that sucks!
DeleteThat's so funny! I've been trying to clear up my files as well! I have to go to someone that can help me reformat my external drive soon... I have one with a ton of photos on it but it only connects to an apple laptop.
ReplyDeleteI have so much stuff on the computer that I need to deal with. Documentaries and films to disk to watch later in my bedroom, music files for my dad, ebook copies...too much! I have made a start so my disk drives are out of the red thankfully! Good luck with the apple files!
DeleteHyperbole and a Half was so good! Or at least, I remember it being really good at putting a finger on what mental health is like.
ReplyDeleteI recognise a few of my own personality traits and I'm pleased that it is off my mental health issues rather than personality flaws! I loved the cartoons especially the cake saga!
DeleteI love weeks when you feel like you got a lot done. Your Red Keep is amazing so I think it was time well spent. I agree that you should read whatever you feel like at the moment. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAny book is good at the moment! A few more DNFs would be good to get things back on a downward spiral! The Red Keep has been a fun distraction for sure!
