Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf. You might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. Go to Carole's blog and add your blog post link in to join in the fun! Hosted by Carole at https://carolesrandomlife.blogspot.co.uk/
This seems like a fun feature and I have been planning to take part since Carole launched this so at last, here we go! I have a TON of unread books to choose from in various genres and I'm looking forward to sharing some of them with everybody.
For more than a century, reports of a strange beast known as the Fouke Monster have circulated among the locals in southern Arkansas. Described as a large, hairy man-like creature, it’s said to haunt the vast Sulphur River Bottoms as it travels the secluded waterway known as Boggy Creek. Over the years, the creature has been seen by numerous witnesses including respected citizens, experienced hunters, famous musicians, and even a police officer. The encounters were often so shocking, they served as inspiration for the classic horror film, The Legend of Boggy Creek, by Charles B. Pierce.
Tales of the creature have long existed in scattered pieces across news clippings, memoirs, police reports, and movies, but it is only now that the complete history of the Fouke Monster has been assembled in one place. This book collects all the facts, theories, and amazing sighting reports, and weaves them into a fascinating tale about this undeniable southern mystery, one that lives on, as frightening encounters with the Beast of Boggy Creek are still being reported today!
I was pretty young when I saw The Legend of Boggy Creek and the whole Sasquatch in the woods thing scared me rigid! I saw eyes looking at me from every bush I passed for the best part of a year! Of course looking at it now, the film is pretty tame but as a kid it was scary. I found that things that scared me at that age, like Boggy Creek, Dracula, Snowbeast and Jaws, actually sparked in me a fascination for monsters of all kinds and sharks, especially anything to do with Bigfoot. When I saw this book I just really wanted to read it! I bought this in November 2014 and I really need to get it read.

I want this one! Man, this sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteI want to visit Foukes! They sell as these touristy Sasquatch things and I could see where the alleged monster roams! It would be so exciting!
DeleteHere's hoping it's as good as it looks!
ReplyDeleteI'm so fascinated by this legend! It sparked my interest in cryptids and Sasquatches!
DeleteThis is the 4th Books from the Backlog post I am reading today, and most of us are featuring books that are about 5 years old. We really need to get on them. I am not familiar with this film, but the Big Foot monster is pretty terrifying in general.
ReplyDeleteWe're great at the wanting and buying part but not so good about getting them read! I can never get enough of all the Bigfoot stuff, fiction, non fiction, films and documentaries!
DeleteI have never heard of that movie, Chuckles! I will have to look it up. I do enjoy stories about Bigfoot so I like the sound of this one. I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it.
ReplyDeleteI was about seven or eight when I watched it and it really scared me! Then it just fascinated me...I'm trying to fit it in before the end of the year.
