Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
Another week has passed and it has been full of stormy weather-not on a big level in my part of the UK but enough to keep me indoors. I've also had my dad watching the horse racing all week, screaming at the TV which is quite wearing so many days in a row! I'm continuing with my experiment of only answering comments and visiting blogs over the weekend as that has given me more time to get on with more time consuming tasks. I'll be catching up with you guys today, Saturday and Sunday! I also have another dentist appointment this week and I hope I don't get so nervous about this one after the first was a big success with no pain. We got a lawyers letter for the ones selling the house next door to say the new fence is in the wrong place and they want it moved so we are getting a new guy up to look at that job on Sunday. It's never ending hassle at the moment. How I long for my rural property with no bloody neighbours and peace and quiet! Need that lottery win...

I spent a bit of time rearranging three of my bookshelves this week which has left me with the usual aches and pains but I'm finally happy with how it looks. I could do with getting a few Tudor and politics books read and out of my house to give me some space back! A few more books are being sent to the charity shop next week which is good. The kitchen is totally done and it is much more user friendly than it has ever been. Just waiting for a few rugs for the floor and that is everything done!

I'm still not buying a ton of books which is pleasing, just a few downloads to share with you this week. My TBR is slowly on the downward march and this week another apocalypse series went into the charity shop bag after book one failed to live up to my hopes. I'm pleased that I got in some good reading and am making progress with my March reading. I'm also starting to think about what I might read in April. Yes I'm already getting into planning mode and I might target first books in a series to see if I can reduce the pile a bit!

I'm doing well with catching up on book reviews and hope to get another 4 out there next week.

Film & TV
No time to watch Sasuke in the afternoons as my dad has been glued to the horse racing all week. At night I have been watching episodes from season one of Australian Ninja Warrior.

Currently Reading/Up Next
I've had a pretty good reading week, finishing 5 books-Ebola K, Tornado Warning, Antarctic Ice Beasts, Unexpected World and The Tudors. I'm currently reading Become An American Ninja Warrior, just for fun as I'm addicted to the series, and then I plan to get stuck into these three books for ongoing challenges. I don't expect to finish Fire and Blood but I do want it read by the time the new series starts on TV!

  1. You know how I feel - neighbors suck! Hope it is easily resolved. I've been reading more than normal this month but it was because I was sick and was off with Mr. Barb for a few days during and after his surgery. I'm glad the kitchen is done and as much as I hate it, I need to do some cleaning Sunday myself rather than sit on the couch all day and read. I love the cover of White Pointer.

    1. The lawyer himself was ok when my dad spoke to him so we're not too worried about it-but I just want it all over and done with! Cleaning, ugh! I have a bit of that to do as well next week!

  2. It sounds like a successful week. Good luck with the dentist appointment! I’m glad the first one wasn’t painful.

    1. A decent week overall. I'm a bit more relaxed about this appointment as he's finishing off a tooth he started last time.

  3. I don't much like going to the dentist either. Good luck with the appointment. So you might have to move the fence if it's in the wrong place? Is it a long fence?

    1. Thankfully it is just the very top part of the fence that we need to move but it's just so annoying! We're having poor weather right now and I really just want it done!

  4. Good luck at your next dentist appointment. And I'm sorry about your fence/property line dispute with your neighbors. what a hassle! Hope you have a good weekend anyway. :)

    1. What gets me is that our neighbour who died put up his gate to seperate the two gardens, cutting off a bit of land that was his. We put the new fence in the same place but his son told the lawyers about that bit of land after we put the gate and fence up so now we need to move it!

    1. In a strange way, part of me is looking forward to the appointments as it means my mouth being fixed and making it easier to eat! The other part is terrified!

  6. Ugh house stuff. Hope that all goes well, with the fence- we have a similar issue, where the neighbors built their shed near the property line, except oops a routine survey found it's partly on our property! We don't really care, we're pretty easygoing, but I know the neighbors were nervous lol. That stuff's always a pain!

The weather's been a mess here too!

    1. We had no problem until the neighbour died but now all these disputes are coming up and I'm stressed again! I'd love to just pick up my house and carry it to a few empty acres of land where I can live in peace and quiet! We had snow last night but I expect it to melt today.

  7. I live in a rural area and all of the houses are set back from each other. I also have great neighbors and we all look out for each other. I've had those other kind and glad I'm away from all that now. I had to add those shark books. I've read a couple of Waggoner's books and didn't realize he had a couple of sea monster books. One of them looks like it me be giant crocs.

    1. I wish I had your housing set up! I'd love more space from our neighbours-we're all on top of each other with no real space. I've been raving about Waggoner's Teeth of the Sea on the blog for a while-it was a great sea monster book.

  8. Ugh, neighbors. Eleanor and I are on the second floor of our apartment building and just have the worst neighbors upstairs who stomp around all the time. And run. Who runs down a hallway that is maybe fifteen feet long? What have you suddenly thought of that you need to sprint full speed to the kitchen for?? So annoying.

Those terror birds aren't raptors by chance, are they??

    1. The terror birds are some sort of dinosaur emu things by the look of it! Maybe the raptors are chasing your neighbours out of their kitchen and that's why they run so much...

  9. Neighbours can be annoying. It was one of my biggest worries when I bought my house but so far they seem okay. It could be because it's winter and we haven't had much opportunity to annoy each other yet with garden activities, cats outdoors and all the like but I'm hopeful they're just nice chilled people (she says crossing all her fingers!)

    1. Nobody has bought the house in question yet so I've still got all that worry to come. Lots of cats, screaming children, lots of parties and barking dogs would be my nightmare!

    1. This is just the lawyers selling the house that we're dealing with! Someone is coming up today to look at the new work being done so I hope it gets done soon.

  11. You've had a productive time cleaning up your bookshelves! I've lost control of mine and I am in serious need of a day going through and clearing them out. I hope the dentist goes well - and sheesh the stuff with the neighbours and the fence!

  12. I have a tendency to visit blogs and comment over the weekend simply because that's how life tends to work out for me. I wish I could spread it out better, but at least I'm able to carve out some time.

  13. Oh no! I hope you don't have to move your fence. What a hassle! I like your idea of only returning comments on certain days. It is nice to focus on other things occasionally. I hope your dentist appoint goes well and you have a great week!

    1. Oh we definitely need to move the fence! Our previous neighbour put up a gate 15 years ago that left a small patch of his land on our side of that gate. We just replaced the gate. Now we are told to move the fence to give that two metres back!

  14. Not a fan of neighbors though thankfully the ones where we are now are good. That definitely hasn't always been the case. Don't even get me started on the neighbors with the kids who had dirt bikes and no rules. They almost drove me crazy. It's enough to make me want to buy any neighboring houses when they come up for sale! Hope this week is happier and less stressful!

  15. You sound like my hubby with the neighbors. We now have a house that only has two people on the block/row/dead end we live on. So he is much happier. Glad the bookshelves are coming along. Have a great weekend!
