Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf. You might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. Go to Carole's blog and add your blog post link in to join in the fun! Hosted by Carole at https://carolesrandomlife.blogspot.co.uk/
This seems like a fun feature and I have been planning to take part since Carole launched this so at last, here we go! I have a TON of unread books to choose from in various genres and I'm looking forward to sharing some of them with everybody.
Denise DeMarco wants to retire from the big game hunting business, but she's received one last job offer she can't refuse. All she has to do is capture a monster. Soon, Denise finds herself on a cursed and sweltering island with a team of elite hunters. Her employers want her to find the legendary ahool, a species of bat large enough to carry away a human being.
Knee-deep in Komodo dragons and danger, Denise soon discovers that things aren't as they appear on the island. Someone is murdering Denise's partners, turning the hunters into the hunted. The killer isn't the only threat, though. Night is about to fall on the island, and the real monsters only come out after dark.
I read and enjoyed this book in March 2017. I loved that it was about hunters in the 1920's as not having assault rifles really evened the odds between human and monster! I have the next two books in the series which I look forward to reading!

The premise does sound so much more interesting when also taking into account that it is set in a much earlier time period. Hope you like the next two books as much as you liked this one!
ReplyDeleteI loved that they had to reload after every shot-it added a new urgency about accuracy! I liked the dual plots about the sniper killing people and the were-monsters! I love those big bat things!
DeleteI really like the time period on this one and I definitely haven't read anything like this. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI really liked the first one so I hope the other two live up to it!
DeleteFun cover!

It was a fun read!
DeleteThat title is just so random... I read it and was all "wtf?". Especially combined with the mutant lizard on cover.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it!
I hope the other two books are as good!
DeleteOh this would make a great movie. Giant Komodo dragons would be fun. Love the cover.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see this one as a film!
DeleteWow! What a cover! This series is completely new to me but I do love a good dragon story. I hope you like the rest of the series when you get the chance to read it!
ReplyDeleteThis one was a lot of fun! I plan to read the second book maybe next month...
DeleteI really like this cover, I also like that it takes place in the 1920's which can really level the playing field. I will have to check this one out.
