Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

I can't believe another week has gone by as I've been pretty busy off the computer. My dad managed to fall up the stairs and sprained his wrist so he's feeling sorry for himself and no harm done thankfully. At least he didn't fall down the stairs! My uncle continues to improve, eating and sleeping well. It'll be in to next week before they think about a release date as they are slowly getting his heart back to normal but we're feeling a lot better about things. I'll be trying to get my uncle's house tidied a bit and filled with food ready for his use, so an extra delivery from Asda is coming on Monday. I've also been busy with the third of my Harry Potter 3D puzzles. I'm having a lot of fun with that whenever I feel stressed! I'll get photos of the second project up hopefully this weekend.

Reading has been ok this week, finishing the Goblet of Fire and getting started on the Order of the Phoenix. I'm still lazing in front of the TV at night and just reading a few chapters here and there. It is keeping the stress levels down! Oh and Rodney the squirrel seems to love the new bird food we got in!

I haven't been on the computer much again this week so it will be a weekend of blog visits and answering comments. Sorry to be so tardy!

I'm still watching re-runs of Great British Menu seasons 11 and 12. We had to stop Gold Rush until my dad feels a bit less stressed out! I'm avoiding the news as much as possible which is helping my own stress levels go down. I watched Grease for the first time in years!

  1. I'm just now catching up on posts for the week so had to go back and see what happened with your uncle. Glad to hear he's doing better.

Falling UP the stairs lol It is better than down though. Kevin tripped out our front door and sprained his ankle the 2nd day of lockdown. Luckily he just had to ice and rest it.

    1. What is it with lockdown that is causing us to have all these accidents! It's a good thing that Kevin and my dad didn't break anything! My uncle is on a normal ward now and recovering. We hope he might be out after next weekend.

    1. I know people say squirrels are rodents and pests but they are just so cute! Rodney is a curious squirrel who likes to sit on our fence and look in the window at us!

    1. The good thing is that my dad never broke anything! The last thing we needed was a trip to A&E! My ubncle is improving each day and we hope to have him home in a week to ten days with any luck.

  4. Nawww, Rodney. I have a friend who actually raised a squirrel! (And keeps a ground squirrel as a pet -- she's American.) I've got rather fond of them.

    1. We always try to feed the wildlife-birds, squirrels and foxes! Hand feeding a fox was such an amazing experience and they were more gentle than dogs!

  5. Glad Rodney is happy with the new bird food. I always admire the way the squirrels cram themselves into bird feeders near us. Glad both your dad and uncle are on the mend, and that your dad didn't suffer a graver injury. Can't wait to see the new puzzle!

    1. I love watching him swing upside down on the feeder! We had a couple of young males a few years ago who weren't very smart-they'd run too fast along the fence and keep falling off! I've told my dad to stop giving me scares like that...I just want a quiet and peaceful lockdown!!!

  6. I am glad your dad wasn't hurt worse than he was. I hope he is back to normal soon. I am happy to hear that your uncle is doing better. That is a relief! I hope you have a great week this week, Chuckles!

    1. Trouble is, my dad's knee keeps giving way which has caused two falls now. He was meant to be getting an operation this month but the virus put paid to that. I'll settle for a quiet week!

  7. I agree that falling up the stairs is MUCH better than falling down them! I'm ridiculously talented at falling up stairs, lol. I hope your dad's wrist feels better soon. Good luck getting things ready for your uncle getting home!

    1. Every Friday 13th I'd fall up or down stairs-it was so stupid! I can be really clumsy at times. My dad's wrist has stopped him getting things ready for my uncle and I can't drive so I can't go over and do it either! Still, we have a bit of time yet!

  8. Glad to hear your uncle is doing better and from the sounds of it staying in the hospital a bit longer is just where he needs to be. At least he won't be wanting to run over to the store and for a random item. Love the Rodney pictures! Squirrels are just the cutest.

    1. My uncle needs to accept our help more and stop being so stubborn! We can always threaten him with another spell in hospital if he goes back to that behaviour! Squirrels are so cute-I love watching them swing on the bird feeders!
