WEDNESDAY
There is a crisis happening in my home-my Kobo e-reader is full! It's FULL! How did that happen? Well ok I know how it happened-downloading too many books and not reading them quickly enough- but it just sort of sneaked up on me during lockdown, y'know? Now I'm going to have to store stuff on my computer until I can delete a pile! At the moment I'm trying to clear a pile of paperback books to give me space on my physical bookshelves and I had wanted to focus on that. Now I might need to do a post about an e-reader clearance as well. This just had to happen at a time when my reading has really dropped!
Reading is a little better now that I'm working hard on that list I mentioned. A few DNFs but that is ok too. That will all feature on my Friday Reading Roundup. I'm still slowly going through my Harry Potter re-read, about halfway through the Half Blood Prince now. That reminds me, I hope the next illustrated book comes out soon. It also reminds me that I need to find somewhere to properly display all these big hardbacks-but that is a problem for another day I guess.
I found my Wii system while I was searching for other stuff and all the wires and controllers are there. I'm very excited about the thought of getting it up and running to give my brain more fun during lockdown plus a bit of exercise. I just need to dig out my games which are on one of the bookshelves. I have the Wii Sports and Fit, a pile of Raving Rabbids games, Animal Crossing Let's Go To The City, Super Monkey Ball, Samba De Amigo, Lego Harry Potter years 1-4, Lego Indiana Jones, Ashes Cricket. I used to use the Fit a lot along with Monkey Ball and Samba De Amigo which was always fun. Have you tried any of these games? What did you think of them?
My uncle has had a setback and hasn't been too well the last couple of days with his breathing and panic attacks thrown in for good measure. It's driving my dad mad that he can't see my uncle or meet with his doctor but of course we understand the reasons why this can't happen. It's for everyone's safety and health. He's still on the Covid Ward so no change there. My uncle isn't on a ventilator and that is the positive news for the moment.
On the virus side of things, talk is of easing restrictions to let non essential shops and businesses open. I get why they need to open it all but I'm worried about a second wave so I'll be staying safe indoors thank you. As long as deliveries arrive at my house, we're doing fine and there is no need for us to take risks.
I hope everyone is doing ok, staying safe and maybe getting some reading done!

Sorry your uncle had a setback. And to think, they wanted to send him home. At least he isn't on a vent. It's always a shock when those things pile up on your e-reader. You'll get it cleared in no time. I'm worried about all the reopening too. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteIt was so hard to know what was really going on and how bad he was when we couldn't see him.
DeleteThat e-reader situation is bad. I use the Kobo for free books from authors and publishers, books downloaded from book websites...how can Myrnin be full! Maurice, my Kindle has tons of room left but still quite a lot on it as I don't buy as much. Need to get a plan going for reducing the pile on the e-readers as well.
i have been good on reading, bad on reviewing, so trying to read from KU until my membership runs out. sorry to hear about your uncle. i'll keep my fingers crossed for him

My reading is still slow at the moment and I need a plan to deal with the overflowing e-reader. I might tackle all the books under 100 pages to get things moving again or target those with mixed reviews/that I might only read once/not as keen to read as before like I'm doing with the paperbacks.
DeleteYour e-reader is full? If I had one, mine would probably be full, too. Fingers crossed your uncle hangs in there and starts to feel better soon. And I know what you mean about the fear that comes with everything opening up again. I don't mind as long as people are taking precautions, but I see so many people out without masks and not social distancing it's frustrating and makes me want to stay home, too. Hope you have a happy weekend reading. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is only the second time that the e-reader has become full so I really need to get that pile reduced. This calls for another reading list to force myself to deal with some of these books!
DeleteThe anti lockdown protests and the Black Lives Matter protests seem to be ignoring social distancing and that is a big concern especially when BAME citizens are more likely to catch Covid 19. Now we're being advised to wear masks in public transport or crowded areas-my dad and I feel vindicated for wearing masks all through the crisis.
I'm sorry to hear about your uncle backsliding a little. I hope it's just temporary.
ReplyDeleteI found my Wii too and I also used to do the fit. I need Kevin to get it up and running again.

I'm looking forward to getting started on the Wii again as it has been my favourite console so far. I liked the emphasis on fitness, fun and family! My dad is more of a monsters, aliens and war kind of thing!
DeleteThey've already started opening up non-essentials here and we have over 100,000 deaths. It's such madness. I'm glad you've been able to read a little and will your uncle in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteNon essential shops are going to be opening here in the next few weeks but I'll be safely tucked up indoors, getting everything I need delivered! I do want the rubbish dump and the charity shops open again so I can get on with my clearout!
DeleteI'm in a reading slump too but it's because I'm working so much and can't stay awake to read. I hope things improve soon for your uncle.
ReplyDeleteI think you have a really good reason not to feel like reading! I'm still finding myself really tired but I've always been borderline anaemic so that isn't much of a surprise really. Hopefully that will improve with a tewak of my eating habits!
DeleteI've been better about DNFing so far this year and it's definitely helped my reading. Yay for finding your Wii! We have Lego Indiana Jones and I had completely forgotten about it. Need to pull that one up. So sorry to hear your uncle had a setback but glad he's not on a ventilator.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a lot of fun on the Wii and I'm looking forward to getting back to using it. I could do with a bit of work on my fitness!
DeleteI need to sort out the unread books on my ereader too... Although, I've never run out of space so I'll call that a win! Good luck with the sorting.
ReplyDeleteThe Wii is a lot of fun. I love the Lego games. I prefer Indiana to Harry Potter but I think my favourite of the series was the Lego Star Wars games. The Wii Fit stuff is awesome. I used to use that a lot for exercise. Hope you have fun!
It's a thankless task isn't it! One of the many things that need to be done but it just takes ages! I've got a lot of stuff that needs deleting on the computer too.
DeleteI used to really enjoy the Wii Fit and sports but I never had the chance to do much fun gaming on it before I sort of lost the habit for it. I really need to get back to it now I have it set up.
