Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!
Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

Hello from Chuckles Book Cave! My dad and I are doing ok and my uncle is still in hospital. It'll be a while before he gets out as progress is slow, but it is still progress and he's being well looked after. I've been busy again this week with my final Diagon Alley puzzles and I literally finished the last one half an hour ago! Now they are being put on display in my room along with my Hogwarts Express and Arthur Weasley's Ford Anglia car! A post about it will follow this weekend. I'm slowly reading The Order of the Phoenix a few chapters each night as I'm too tired each day to get much reading done. Hopefully that will pick up soon as I'm headed to my lowest reading total since I joined Goodreads around 2010!
Last night I tried the Red Leicester cheese with chilli-one little bite and my mouth erupted with heat and I started to gag! Not a successful cheese night! I'm not a huge fan of spicy food and even my dad struggled with a small bite! So I know not to get that one again!!! I'm pleased to report that I settled instead for a nice smoked mature cheddar instead! Tonight, my dad and I are going to enjoy a nice mild chicken curry with rice-that's as spicy as I get!
Chuckles Blogging World
This week I'm delighted to say that I've kept up with my blog visits and have my Around The Blogs post ready to go up this weekend. I have a few comments to answer here at The Book Cave but I'm in much better shape this week. I even managed to post a few fun posts. I didn't get any book reviews done but I'm not greatly bothered about it-maybe next week...

I'm annoyed because my MP3 player is still missing after several months and I just can't find it in the upheaval of my room! I haven't listened to any music and I'm still watching Harry Potter every morning with is soothing for the soul!

I’m the opposite of you. I love spicy food. Probably because I grew up on Tex-Mex food. Everything was spicy. I hope your uncle gets better quickly!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Chuckles and spicy have never been a great mix! I love the smells of all the spices but a tongue on fire, eyes watering and nose dripping is not worth it! I do like a nice mild curry though and tasty Indian and Chinese offerings!
DeleteIt sounds like you had a better week - other than the spicy cheese incident lol
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
I should have taken a smaller bite! I just wasn't expecting it to be so hot!
DeleteWhile chili in cheese sounds fantastic, I'm with you on level of spiciness. I can't handle it either :-(
ReplyDeleteBookstooge
A little hint of chilli in cheese can be great if it doesn't burn the mouth off!
DeleteI'll have to look for that cheese! I love spicy food but I know if you don't it's incredibly unpleasant to unexpectedly get a spicy bite. It sounds like your uncle is exactly where he needs to be and I'm so glad to hear he's making progress. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt's a Welsh company so I don't know if it would ship to the US or how expensive it might be. I imagine there are great cheeses lurking in your country too!
DeleteAww, too bad about the cheese -- I love spicy stuff, like Mexicana Cheese, but it really sucks to have a mouthful of something way too spicy for you! :(
ReplyDeleteI WANT to like spicy food as it all looks so tasty but I'm a total lightweight with even a bit of chilli or pepper!
DeleteI like spicy but not too spicy... I'm curious about that cheese!
ReplyDeleteChicken Curry is also something I love but I never get to eat it as my husband hates the smell, taste, everything about curries. *sigh* Now I've read this, all I want to do is have one, lol.
Glad to hear your uncle is doing well!
Oh no, no curries at all? I love a mild aromatic curry! Send your husband out to the garden in a tent so you can have a nice curry night! I LOVE the smell of a tikka masala coming in from the takeaway!
DeleteThat cheese sounds spicy to me, and I love a little heat. I put hot sauce on almost everything.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I better not invite myself to dinner at your house! *giggles* It sounds like you'd maybe like that cheese-it certainly had heat and spice.
DeleteI like spicy food but nothing really hot. My husband and daughter's tolerance are pretty low so I don't tend to make things too hot. I am curious about that cheese! I am glad that your uncle is getting the care he needs. I hope he continues to improve. I hope you have a wonderful week, Chuckles!
ReplyDeleteMy dad isn't much keen on too hot and spicy though he can tolerate more than I can. I am planning to use lockdown to expand my curry tasting though-one of these mail order cooking things!
