I'm not greatly interested in romance in books so I'm looking at loved animals and monster sidekicks in books instead.
1) Oberon
Anyone who follows me will know how much I love the Iron Druid series with Oberon the sausage and french poodle obsessed companion to his Druid Atticus.
2) Beezle
The cranky popcorn loving gargoyle is so adorable in Christina Henry's Black Wings series.
3) Palimpsest
4) Apollo
Apollo is the brave military dog that takes on all kinds of zombies and monster variants in Nicholas Sansbury Smith's Extinction Cycle series.
5) Giguhl
This is the demon assassin who tries to kill Sabina Kane before becoming addicted to using her credit card on the shopping channel and being turned into a hairless cat!
6) Charlie
The Golem bodyguard/sidekick to help Jace on her mission to find a killer of supernaturals. He prefers the term 'mineral american', wears sharp suits and a fedora!
7) Maurice
Maurice is a Closet Monster who cleans and cooks especially when he gets anxious helping empath Zoey look after her Monster Haven. My ideal man!
8) Ghost
I love all the direwolves in the book but Ghost is my favourite! The faithful companions of the Stark children in A Song of Ice and Fire.
9) Myrnin
An eccentric mentally damaged brilliant vampire scientist who wants to protect Claire one minute and kill her the next. I love his character!
10) Rodney
Rodney is a ghoul and I find him such a fascinating character in the Night Huntress books
BEST.LIST.EVER. Seriously you've named some great sidekicks. Oberon and Beezle. Beezle is one of the best ever! Any list with him is a great list.

DeleteLove these!! I would add Peaches from Montague & Strong series by Orlando Sanchez, Sig, the coyote from Laura Bickle's Wildland series and Sparky the firedrake from Bickle's Anya Kalinczyk series.

Apollo was such a hero! The author hinted at the possibility of a book with Apollo's story before he joins the team-I so want that to happen!
